Rather than fancy cards, you'll just get a code on a receipt from GAME, which makes us wonder why the denominations are limited. In any case, it'll be easy to clean out your physical collection and clutter up your digital collection at the same time.
Retailer ups its PC gaming offering with Steam partnership
30th November 2012: Today, GAME becomes the first UK retailer to make Steam Wallet Codes available for customers to buy in-store. Steam Wallet enables customers to purchase games, add-ons and content to be used on Steam: the ultimate entertainment platform. The Steam agreement heralds the dawn of the retailer's increased offering for PC gamers.
Available in four denominations (£5, £10, £20, £50), customers simply take the Steam Wallet box to the till where they will receive a sales receipt with a Steam Wallet Code printed on it. When they get home, they enter the Wallet Code into Steam and their account is credited!
GAME is offering an extra 33% trade-in value on selected game trade-ins* against Steam Wallet, plus customers get reward points when they buy any Steam Wallet credit.
Martyn Gibbs, CEO at GAME said: "This is the latest initiative offering unrivalled value, range and ease of obtaining digital content for our UK gaming community. We are delighted to be partnering with Steam as we look to grow our PC gaming communities together. The partnership forms a significant part of our increased offering for any PC gamer which will also include a full digital catalogue available on tablets in store to browse and new ways to pay for digital downloads, making the process easier and more secure than ever."
Jason Holtman, Valve's Director of Business Development said: "GAME is the leading retailer of gaming content in the UK - one of the world's largest gaming markets. By making Steam Wallet codes available at GAME, we are together delivering more purchasing options for gamers."
