Microsoft will reportedly announce this morning that the speed of Xbox One's graphics processing unit has been increased. Game Informer
caught a cache of a GameSpot
article that apparently flipped early, in which the site discusses a Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb podcast that hasn't been posted yet.
In the podcast, Microsoft's corporate VP Marc Whitten tells Hryb the system's GPU running speed has been increased from 800 MHz to 853 MHz.
"This is the time where developers have the final dev kits in their hands, they're really working closely with us on how things have come together. There's some things that have really started to come together quite well," Whitten reportedly said.
This latest news doesn't appear to be aimed at consumers so much as developers. More power in the system means longer hardware life, which for developers means a longer tail to sell games.
