The first game, a piratey card game with puzzle and strategy elements, is called Dead Man's Draw, and is due out in October for iOS.
"Stardock is known for great strategy games," Bray says. "The mobile games – though they will vary in genre – will always have an element of strategy in the gameplay."
The two other mobile games are Hero Busters and Star Tails, each coming in early 2014. Stardock CEO Brad Wardell says, "The mobile platform allows us to design games that just wouldn't make sense on a PC and take advantage of some of the unique features inherent to a mobile device." We'll find out whether this refers to touchscreen gameplay or microstransactions (or both) in October.

Plymouth, MI – September 25, 2013 – Stardock Corporation today announced the formation of its newly formed mobile unit, Stardock Mobile. The new division will bring original strategy games to mobile devices starting next month when Dead Man's Draw™ is released for iOS in the Apple store. Dead Man's Draw is an entirely new and captivating card game designed by the minds behind the award-winning Galactic Civilization and Fallen Enchantress games.
"The goal at Stardock is to create great strategy games – whether that's on a PC, phone or tablet," said Derek Paxton, vice president at Stardock. "Dead Man's Draw focuses the decisions of a strategy game to that single moment where you either commit to jump off the cliff, or back off and play it safe, all within a game that only takes a few minutes to play."
Stardock Mobile's first release, Dead Man's Draw, blends strategic gameplay with timeless card game fun. Drawing from the best elements of the puzzle, strategy and classic card games, Dead Man's Draw is a new take on the genre: Swords steal, maps uncover, and cannons blast as you battle against a wide variety of pirates with different traits and abilities.
"Our core team consists of incredibly talented and passionate people," said Chris Bray, senior producer at Stardock Mobile. "Stardock is known for great strategy games. The mobile games – though they will vary in genre – will always have an element of strategy in the gameplay. Thought-provoking, fun game experiences are what ignite our creativity at Stardock, and we look forward to continuing that same tradition with our mobile offerings."
"We're very excited to branch out into the mobile space," said Brad Wardell, president & CEO of Stardock. "The mobile platform allows us to design games that just wouldn't make sense on a PC and take advantage of some of the unique features inherent to a mobile device."
