A Microsoft spokesperson told Polygon, "The news of Xbox Entertainment Studios has not impacted our progress and we're excited to share more details of Quantum Break at Gamescom in August."
Back in May, Creative Director Sam Lake revealed Remedy will finally present the time-manipulating shooter's gameplay at Europe's Gamescom convention. As for the plot, that deals with themes of time travel, the idea of time coming to an end, and lots of other timey-wimey things. It'll also be told across both the Xbox One game and TV show, with lots of crossover occurring between the two.
While the Quantum Break show goes on, the news of Xbox Entertainment Studios' demise comes just 17 months after Microsoft unveiled its foray into original programming. The studio's closure forms just part of Microsoft's biggest-ever round of layoffs, in which 18,000 employees are set to lose their jobs, the vast majority of them arising from the company's Nokia Services and Devices division.
