I hate all that news is so old crap, some people just come here to read their news and so it's just good that it gets reported, especially if it's not real big important news.

I'm on the same terms as poster no.1. I would love to be a pro gamer, but i kinda dont have 1337 skills

If he had glasses in that photo he'd look like Napoleon Dynamite.

He's a FPS player...big deal. This whole "professional gamer" stigma given to all these FPS players/teams is really annoying to hear about IMO. I'm not jealous or anything, but I'd give the guy a lot more respect if he could do something like beat Ikari Warriors without dying one time.

Playing UT2k3 and having the right weapon with enough ammo at the right time doesn't mean you're a professional.

OMG, dude I think you're using the word "professional" too losely. In a world that beats up people like this, I wouldn't quit your day job.. Video game professionals are like the William Huang's (see American Idol) of the entertainment industry where their biggest fan is themselves. I don't know about everyone else but "videogame pros" don't make me want to run out and buy a game or hardware, etc.

Pro-Gaming is getting bigger ad bigger. I just hope it can survive on TV. Maybe they should test it out online first before moving to TV but the deals are already done.

I met a few so called video game pros... They seem to be only living in small world. I have no idea why the sponsors keep giving them stuff because I dont see myself buying a keyboard, motherboard or a cpu because 1 gamer or gamers use them. Oh some of them are complete egomaniacs.

I expect professional gaming will get a lot bigger than it is now as games become more lifelike and fun for non-gamers to watch.

While I wouldn't consider it "athletic" exercise, there is a lot of tedious mential exercise that these guys need to go through. Some might joke about it being easy, but personally, I sure as heck wouldn't want to have to play a FPS 8 hours a day. Not to mention that it's a pretty big financial risk - one that most people aren't willing to take.

Considering that there's plenty of money in professional card games like Poker and Blackjack - and these even get televised - I don't see why video games shouldn't rise to that level. I for one would much rather watch a hectic deathmatch than some guys playing cards, or fishing, etc...

I think you all fail to give pro gamers their due credit. Most of the people that play in CAL and CPL are pretty good at what they do. It takes way more skill than you think. Most don't spend as much time playing as Fatal1ty does simply because he truly does this for a living.

Anyways, here's a link to the upcoming documentary "Amer1can Gamer." (http://americangamer.org/) There are some trailers on their website, and the footage is from summer CPL a few years back.

Long, long ago, National Lampoon had a piece called 'The Encyclopedia of Participatory Sports.' The entry for pool (as in Billiards) noted that 'Pool is expected to appear as an Olympic event right after farting in the bathtub.'

That sizes up the way I regard the very concept of professional video game players.Anything lacking the slightest chance of producing bloodshed is not something I view as a viable spectator event. Even Tiddlywinks (Australian Rules) has more likelihood of carnage.
