Steam let <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/games/765/announcements/detail/1604686826011817344">six games and one piece of software</a> through its Greenlight service last week during E3, granting each the ability to be distributed on the platform.<br />
<br />
The greenlit games were <em>Assetto Corsa</em> by Kunos Simulazioni, <em>DreadOut</em> by Digital Happiness, Benjamin Hill's <em>Ether One</em>, <em>GunZ 2: The Second Duel</em> by MAIET Games, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/stonehearth"><em>Stonehearth</em></a> by Radiant Entertainment and Ben Falcone's first-person survival horror game for Oculus Rift, <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-forest">The Forest</a></em>. <em>Stonehearth</em>, a sandbox strategy game, recently <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/02/crowdfund-bookie-may-26-june-1-stonehearth-tug-son-of-nor/">raised $751,920 on Kickstarter</a>. <em>Heaven Benchmark</em> by Unigine was the lone piece of software that community approval last week.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/18/steam-greenlight-sneaks-out-six-more-games-one-more-app/">Steam Greenlight sneaks out six more games, one more app</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Jun 2013 12:30:00 EST. In late March, Square Enix <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-weak-sales-tomb-raider-hitman-absolution/">cited "weak sales"</a> of big console titles to explain its massive restructuring, which saw the dismissal of now-former President Yoichi Wada. Games such as <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/hitman-absolution">Hitman: Absolution</a></em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/tomb-raider-2013"><em>Tomb Raider</em></a> were slated to reach over three million units in sales in fiscal 2013, arguably considered successful to other publishers.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, Eidos Montreal's reboot of the long-running Thief series reportedly <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/30/report-thief-reboot-suffered-multiple-setbacks/">suffered multiple setbacks</a> during its lengthy development cycle. When asked if he feels pressure to ship a critically-acclaimed game in light of the "disappointing" sales of other top-tier Square Enix games, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/thief-2014"><em>Thief</em></a> Producer Stefan Roy told Joystiq at E3 that the developer "cannot compromise with this one. We reinvented this franchise, I think we have a single shot."<br />
<br />
"We cannot say, 'oh sorry, we missed, so we are going to try again.' No, it doesn't work that way," he added. "So we cannot compromise, we must really give a good product, we must work closely with the marketing to make sure that the messaging around the game is really clear."<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/thief-e3-2013/">Thief (E3 2013)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/thief-e3-2013/#5960175"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/10893thief-e3-2013online061113ss01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/thief-e3-2013/#5960176"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/10894thief-e3-2013online061113ss02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/thief-e3-2013/#5960177"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/10895thief-e3-2013online061113ss03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/thief-e3-2013/#5960178"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/10896thief-e3-2013online061113ss04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/thief-e3-2013/#5960179"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/10897thief-e3-2013online061113ss05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/18/thief-producer-we-have-a-single-shot/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Thief producer: 'We have a single shot'</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/18/thief-producer-we-have-a-single-shot/">Thief producer: 'We have a single shot'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 18 Jun 2013 08:00:00 EST. <br />
Now that another <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/e3-2013">E3</a> is in the bag, we're taking some time this week on Stiq Figures to look back at a trailer for a game shown off at E3 1997 by Nintendo. That game is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/the-legend-of-zelda-ocarina-of-time/"><em>The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time</em></a>, and the video is kind of a mess and may not be from that E3 in particular, but still captures the excitement surrounding the game's November 1998 release.<br />
<br />
Isn't it refreshing to watch a trailer that includes lots of in-game action?  <em>Those were the days</em>.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/16/stiq-figures-june-3-9-ocarina-of-time-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stiq Figures, June 3 - 9: Ocarina of Time edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/16/stiq-figures-june-3-9-ocarina-of-time-edition/">Stiq Figures, June 3 - 9: Ocarina of Time edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 16 Jun 2013 22:30:00 EST. <br />
Comedian Lewis Black took to his "Back in Black" segment on Comedy Central's The Daily Show to discuss what he sees as growing privacy concerns related to Microsoft's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/xbox-one">Xbox One</a>. Black specifically pokes fun at the expected improvements to the Kinect's detection capabilities.<br />
<br />
Privacy concerns related to the Kinect were <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/06/microsoft-addresses-xbox-one-kinect-privacy-concerns/">addressed by Microsoft</a> earlier this month, which said that users "will determine how responsive and personalized your Xbox One is to you and your family during setup." Black's satirical take on the Kinect, as with his comments related to other products such as Google Glass, still make for an entertaining video to check out, not one to take at face value. Be warned, the video also contains mature language.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/16/lewis-black-pokes-at-the-kinect-on-the-daily-show/">Lewis Black pokes at the Kinect on The Daily Show</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 16 Jun 2013 20:30:00 EST. We did it, readers. We survived <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/e3-2013">E3 2013</a>. While we still have plenty of leftover goodies from the week to deliver to you (our content ovens have been pre-heating all day), now seems like as good a time as ever to reflect on the news from the week. The <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/ea-spotlights-pvz-garden-warfare-mirrors-edge-reboot-at-e3-20/">EA</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/ubisofts-e3-2013-conference-details-the-division-rabbids-invas/">Ubisoft</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/microsoft-reveals-titanfall-killer-instinct-halo-xbox-one/">Microsoft</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/sony-throws-down-new-games-new-footage-and-the-gauntlet-at-e3/">Sony</a> press conferences had a number of big moments that we'll be discussing for a long time, for starters. We've already wrapped up E3 2013 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/14/e3-2013-wrap-up-with-joystiq-and-engadget/">with our friends at Engadget</a>, and your input has fueled plenty of discussions for weeks to come.<br />
<br />
So, this wouldn't be fun unless we had you folks help wrap up E3 with us, right? This week's Wrapup question is: What was your favorite announcement, game or moment from E3? While you wrap E3 2013 up in a neat little package, check out last week's webcomics and vote for your favorite after the break! Thank you for sticking with us through this hectic week!<br />

This trailer for <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fifa-14">FIFA Soccer 14</a></em> from E3 shows stars of the sport interspersed with early clips from the game on Xbox One. While the next-gen, Ignite engine-powered versions of the game don't have a release date, the game will roll to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on September 24.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/15/next-gen-fifa-14-trailer-is-messi/">Next-gen FIFA 14 trailer is Messi</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 15 Jun 2013 12:30:00 EST. You could argue that EA Sports' FIFA series has a stranglehold on the simulation soccer game genre. The publisher <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/08/ea-sports-and-fifa-extend-exclusive-license-until-2022/">locked up the FIFA license</a> for many years to come, making it the only company with access to a number of real-life teams that other publishers such as Konami can't get its hands on.<br />
<br />
If you care only about the number of teams that are in your sports games, then sure, FIFA is king. Until I played <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/pro-evolution-soccer-2014">Pro Evolution Soccer 2014</a></em> at E3, I was still convinced that I am a "FIFA guy." That might be changing, now that Konami has <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/04/pro-evolution-soccer-2014-powered-by-fox-engine-this-year/">introduced the Fox Engine</a> to the series, which is being used to generate facial textures and animations in a more lifelike manner.<br />
<br />
Sports game developers traditionally don't have the resources to commit to rendering lifelike emotion for in-game athlete's faces. In the case of games such as FIFA or Madden, expressions on athletes waver between lifeless and lifeless-with-an-open-mouth. Truly, one of the biggest tangible ways to convey the excitement of scoring goals or making crucial mistakes lies in generating that emotion through the athletes that players interact with, not unlike viewing sports broadcasts in real life. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pro-evolution-soccer-2014-e3-2013/">Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 (E3 2013)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pro-evolution-soccer-2014-e3-2013/#5960093"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pes2014allianzarena01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pro-evolution-soccer-2014-e3-2013/#5960094"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pes2014ballfox_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pro-evolution-soccer-2014-e3-2013/#5960095"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pes2014bmallianz_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pro-evolution-soccer-2014-e3-2013/#5960096"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pes2014bmucl_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/pro-evolution-soccer-2014-e3-2013/#5960097"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pes2014m.a.s.s_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/14/the-faces-of-fox-engine-in-pro-evolution-soccer-2014/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>The faces of Fox Engine in Pro Evolution Soccer 2014</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/14/the-faces-of-fox-engine-in-pro-evolution-soccer-2014/">The faces of Fox Engine in Pro Evolution Soccer 2014</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Jun 2013 12:00:00 EST. Capcom sure seems to enjoy when people sing the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ducktales-remastered"><em>DuckTales</em></a> theme song, as its E3 section features an enclosed glass booth for that sole purpose.<br />
<br />
We took a quick video when passing by of one gentleman exercising his vocal chords to the enjoyment of viewers behind him. Listen closely for the "woo-oo" part of the song; he totally nailed it.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/14/seen-e3-capcoms-ducktales-singing-booth/">Seen@E3: Capcom's DuckTales singing booth</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 14 Jun 2013 04:00:00 EST. A teardown of the new Xbox 360 announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/new-xbox-360-costs-200-for-4gb-300-for-250gb/">at Microsoft's E3 press conference</a> by <a href="http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Xbox+360+E+Teardown/15062/">iFixit</a> showed some surprising non-changes to the redesigned system. Namely, the console still uses the storage, cooling fan and processing power from the current version of the system first announced in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/14/new-xbox-360-shipping-today-for-299-250gb-hdd-built-in-wifi/">June 2010</a>.<br />
<br />
Among the changes made to the system (referred to as the Xbox 360 E), iFixit noticed that Microsoft updated the RF module and that "the absence of the power button backlight found in the Xbox 360 S is easily noticed." The redesigned console is <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/new-model-of-xbox-360-available-today/">available now</a> for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/new-xbox-360-costs-200-for-4gb-300-for-250gb/">the same price</a> as the existing models. We got <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/take-a-closer-look-at-the-new-xbox-360/">a good look at the system</a> ourselves at E3, albeit from the outside.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/13/new-xbox-360-2013-tear-down/">New Xbox 360 torn down, shows we're all the same on the inside</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Jun 2013 13:07:00 EST. <br />
When stepping into Sony's booth at E3, my eyes darted to one empty game kiosk. Sony reps invited me to play a popular racing game that I was certain would take me back to the days where I'd pass hours of time fine-tuning my vehicle to beat my best records by seconds.<br />
<br />
The game being offered was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gran-turismo-6"><em>Gran Turismo 6</em></a> for PS3. Within seconds of starting the demo, I attempted to follow a blue line on the road and immediately hit a wall. I never totally gained confidence behind the wheel, and constantly went off-course. Even though I played games such as <em>Test Drive 4</em> and <em>Gran Turismo</em> for dozens of hours on the PlayStation, my lack of time on the road in recent years left me in the dust.<br />
<br />
Afterwards, I picked up a DualShock 4 controller and played a brief track in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/driveclub"><em>Driveclub</em></a>. Again, I spun out almost immediately, but quickly picked up the controls and stayed course, finishing the race with a not-so-terrible record. Accessibility was a driving point impressed upon me by Technical Art Director Alex Perkins, and I saw it firsthand. I rarely felt like I was over-steering on tight turns, despite the powerful car I was driving. With simple gas, brake and handbrake controls, the pick-up-and-play nature of <em>Driveclub</em> instilled more confidence in me than<em> Gran Turismo 6</em> could in its first few moments.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/13/taking-a-test-drive-with-driveclub/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Taking a test drive with Driveclub</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/13/taking-a-test-drive-with-driveclub/">Taking a test drive with Driveclub</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 13 Jun 2013 08:30:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare"><em>Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare</em></a> is being planned for PC, producer Brian Lindley told Joystiq at E3. The third-person action game was announced for Xbox One and Xbox 360 <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/ea-reveals-plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare/">at EA's E3 press conference</a> yesterday. Lindley said the game will launch in spring 2014, and that "at the moment we're not announcing any platforms." You know, outside of PC.<br />
<br />
<em>Garden Warfare</em> was announced with a demo of its four-player cooperative multiplayer action. Lindley confirmed that the game will include competitive multiplayer modes in which players can control zombie characters instead of plants. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-e3-2013/">Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare (E3 2013)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-e3-2013/#5957116"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pvzgwe3screens01wmv3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-e3-2013/#5957117"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pvzgwe3screens02wmv3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-e3-2013/#5957119"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pvzgwe3screens03wmv3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-e3-2013/#5957121"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/pvzgwe3screens04wmv3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/plants-vs-zombies-garden-warfare-coming-in-spring-planned-for/">Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare coming in spring, planned for PC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Jun 2013 21:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/deus-ex-human-revolution"><em>Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut</em></a> will launch on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC/Mac later this year, Square Enix announced in a press release. The version was initially announced for Wii U in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/20/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-announced-for-wii-u-c/">March</a>, and Eidos Montreal said the <em>Director's Cut</em> improvements <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/02/deus-ex-wii-u-improvements-not-planned-for-other-platforms/">were not planned</a> for other platforms as of April.<br />
<br />
The touchscreen features seen in the <em>Director's Cut</em> version developed for the Wii U version will translate to Microsoft's SmartGlass app and the PlayStation Vita. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-e3-2013/">Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut (E3 2013)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-e3-2013/#5955473"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/dxhr-wiiu---screenshot-04-wlogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-e3-2013/#5955474"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/dxhr-wiiu---screenshot-05-wlogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-e3-2013/#5955475"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/dxhr-wiiu---screenshot-06-wcontroller-wlogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-e3-2013/#5955476"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/dxhr-wiiu---screenshot-07-wlogo_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/deus-ex-human-revolution-directors-cut-e3-2013/#5955477"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/dxhr-wiiu-city-street_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/deus-ex-directors-cut-coming-to-360-ps3-pc-mac-later-this-ye/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Deus Ex Director's Cut coming to 360, PS3, PC, Mac later this year</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/deus-ex-directors-cut-coming-to-360-ps3-pc-mac-later-this-ye/">Deus Ex Director's Cut coming to 360, PS3, PC, Mac later this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Jun 2013 19:51:00 EST. <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/need-for-speed-rivals">Need for Speed: Rivals</a></em> is slated to be a launch title for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Lead Designer James Mouat told Joystiq at E3. The game was already announced as coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/23/need-for-speed-rivals-speeds-to-xbox-one-ps4-and-current-gen-this-november/">November 19</a>, but Mouat said the team wants the game to "be out on launch" for next-generation consoles.<br />
<br />
Mouat also confirmed that the game will not include local, split-screen multiplayer. While the <em>Rivals</em>' "AllDrive" feature places a heavy emphasis on competitive, online-connected multiplayer, Mouat assured us that "if you never touch the Internet with your console, it still plays fine," and that "you'll have an entire single-player campaign to play through."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/need-for-speed-rivals-will-launch-with-next-gen-consoles-this-y/">Need for Speed: Rivals aiming to launch with next-gen consoles this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Jun 2013 17:38:00 EST. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced <em>Wii Party U</em> for the Wii U during the company's Nintendo Direct stream today. This sequel to Wii Party was initially announced at a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/23/wii-party-sequel-coming-to-wii-u-this-summer/">January Nintendo Direct</a> event, but now has a full title and an October 2013 release date.<br />

Along with the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/playstation-eye-dualshock-controller-both-priced-59-for-ps4/">$59 price listing</a> for the DualShock 4 and PlayStation Eye accessories, a Sony Japan press release noted that the PlayStation 4 will include a 500 GB hard drive.<br />

When looking back at our initial <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-and-playstation-4-specs-compared/">specs comparison</a> between the Xbox One and PS4, the latter system's storage capacity was one of the points that was had yet to be revealed when the system was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/20/playstation-4/">announced in February</a>. Another big detail missing in February was the system's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/ps4-launches-399/">$399 price</a>, which was announced during Sony's E3 press conference Monday.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/playstation-4-to-include-a-500-gb-hard-drive/">PlayStation 4 to include a 500 GB hard drive</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 11 Jun 2013 01:46:00 EST. <br />
Ubisoft announced an interactive TV show based around its lovable, quirky rabbit-like creatures called <em>Rabbids Invasion</em> at its E3 press conference. The show will come to Xbox One and will allow viewers to interact with the show's characters, dancing with the Rabbids and solving puzzles that will push the story forward.<br />
<br />
Ubisoft's trailer for the game showed children using motion control gestures to launch eggs at Rabbids and scream along to virtually crack the screen in varying mini-games. While no set release date was given for the <em>Rabbids Invasion</em> show, it is expected to launch "soon."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/rabbids-invasion-interactive-tv-show-announced/">Rabbids Invasion interactive TV show announced [Update: Trailer!]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 10 Jun 2013 18:48:00 EST. <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/forza-motorsport-5"><em>Forza Motorsport 5</em></a> will include a "Drivatar" cloud-based feature, as announced at <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/10/xbox-e3-2013-liveblog-on-joystiq/">Microsoft's E3 press briefing</a> today. We're a hungry bunch here on Stiq Figures, and we have a sincere appreciation for delicious, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/02/stiq-figures-may-20-26-cake-vs-zombies-edition/">stylish cakes</a>. That's why we're drooling over this <a href="http://i.imgur.com/ZBXy4WR.jpg">Super Nintendo cake</a> posted to the web by Reddit user <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1fzu4c/my_friends_wedding_cake_was_super/">Bessman911</a>.<br />

The cake apparently belongs to a bride and groom, who can be seen <a href="http://i.imgur.com/onVwVdB.jpge">posing with the cake</a> at their wedding prior to smearing the sugary <em>Super Mario World</em> cartridge all over each others' faces.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/09/stiq-figures-may-27-june-2-super-nintencake/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stiq Figures, May 27 - June 2: Super Nintencake</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/09/stiq-figures-may-27-june-2-super-nintencake/">Stiq Figures, May 27 - June 2: Super Nintencake</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 09 Jun 2013 23:00:00 EST. Upcoming Wii U party game <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/spin-the-bottle/"><em>Spin the Bottle</em></a> will use a gradually-increasing price model, creative director Lau Korsgaard told <a href="http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/06/spin_the_bottle_will_adopt_a_unique_pricing_structure_for_wii_u_eshop">Nintendo Life</a>. Korsgaard said the game will launch at a "cheap-ish," but still undetermined price and will increase as the developer creates more content for it.<br />
<br />
"If you buy early you will get all future updates for free. Our plan is to release two more updates in 2013 - each time raising the price a bit," he said. "We want reward the early adopters of the Wii U while still being able to earn money on the long run."<br />
<br />
<em>Spin the Bottle</em> was originally <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/11/spin-the-bottle-points-to-may-2013-release/">expected to launch in May</a>, but its <a href="http://www.knapnokgames.com/press/sheet.php?p=spin_the_bottle/">official site</a> now lists it as an early summer eShop release.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/09/spin-the-bottle-to-reward-early-adopters-with-gradually-increasi/">Spin the Bottle to reward early adopters with gradually-increasing price model</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 09 Jun 2013 16:00:00 EST. Donuts originally appeared in the game as an unlockable Furbottom Features character. Exato Game Studios' voxel-based shooter <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/guncraft/"><em>Guncraft</em></a> will launch July 11, the developer announced in a recent <a href="http://www.exatogames.com/Guncraft/2013/06/guncraft-final-release-date/">blog</a>. The game will launch on PC via Desura, Green Man Gaming, Rain Digital Games, GamersGate and the official Guncraft website.<br />
<br />
<em>Guncraft</em> blends first-person shooter action with <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/minecraft"><em>Minecraft</em></a>-like visuals, which has lead <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/06/notch-responds-to-guncraft-im-a-huge-fan-of-clones/">some to believe</a> its the work of <em>Minecraft</em> creator Notch. Exato Game Studios raised $16,487 on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/26/guncraft-is-minecraft-with-guns-or-call-of-duty-with-blocks-pic/">Kickstarter</a> in March 2012 to make the game a reality. The developer is now seeking community approval on Steam's <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=94212175">Greenlight service</a> to launch the game on Steam.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/08/guncraft-digs-up-a-july-11-release-date/">Guncraft digs up a July 11 release date</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sat, 08 Jun 2013 12:00:00 EST. I've developed a hatred for Beardo, a blue bear with a mustache and sideburns that built his house right next to mine in <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/animal-crossing-new-leaf"><em>Animal Crossing: New Leaf</em></a>. I had plans to surround my mansion-to-be with flower beds. While the line of cherry trees I planted set me apart from Beardo, it wasn't good enough. Even as the mayor of the town of Hayward, a title granted to me by mistake because I stepped off the train alone after the game's brief introduction, my power was limited. Sure, I could mosey over to the town hall to complain about how Beardo dresses or talks, which I did, but he only assured me he'll clean up his act. I couldn't just kick Beardo to the curb.<br />
<br />
As mayor, it's my responsibility to make the town sparkle with new public works projects. Beardo didn't fund the yellow bench or the fountain it sits in front of - I did. He didn't plant the assorted trees, build a campsite or a police station. While I'm paying for prime tourist attractions, Beardo is lumbering around town with a watering can, flooding the flowers I already watered.<br />
<br />
One Saturday afternoon, the town's citizens competed in a sea bass fishing derby. I devoted hours to luring in dozens of fish, and was determined to win a sweet gold trophy for the center of the main room of my house. I came in second, and you better believe I was bitter when Beardo stood above me on the winner's podium, holding the first place trophy that was meant for me. I then abandoned my duties as mayor to dig holes around his house, plant trees in front of his doorway, send him vulgar letters and shove him around until he stormed off in anger. It may be my job to make Hayward heaven for its citizens, but it became my personal <em>mission</em> to make it hell for Beardo.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/animal-crossing-new-leaf-6-3-13/">Animal Crossing: New Leaf (6/4/13)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/animal-crossing-new-leaf-6-3-13/#5930900"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/newleaf1-1370288261_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/animal-crossing-new-leaf-6-3-13/#5930901"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/newleaf2-1370288263_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/animal-crossing-new-leaf-6-3-13/#5930902"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/newleaf3-1370288264_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/animal-crossing-new-leaf-6-3-13/#5930903"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/newleaf4-1370288266_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/animal-crossing-new-leaf-6-3-13/#5930843"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/06/hni0019_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/04/animal-crossing-new-leaf-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Animal Crossing New Leaf review: Beardo's lament</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/04/animal-crossing-new-leaf-review/">Animal Crossing New Leaf review: Beardo's lament</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 04 Jun 2013 12:20:00 EST. This week on Stiq Figures, we're licking our chops while ogling a delicious-looking cake brought to the Internet by Reddit user <a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1fi5rh/my_friends_4yearold_son_loves_plants_vs_zombies/">Wiltylock</a>. The cake is for a 4-year-old's birthday, and was decorated to resemble a level from PopCap's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/plants-vs-zombies"><em>Plants vs Zombies</em></a>.<br />
<br />
We've seen many delectable cakes in our day, but we've never seen one we want to <em>play</em> and not eat. Who are we kidding? We want to eat it, too.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/02/stiq-figures-may-20-26-cake-vs-zombies-edition/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Stiq Figures, May 20 - 26: Cake vs Zombies edition</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/02/stiq-figures-may-20-26-cake-vs-zombies-edition/">Stiq Figures, May 20 - 26: Cake vs Zombies edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Jun 2013 23:30:00 EST. This trailer for the upcoming Man of Steel movie was recreated with a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/minecraft"><em>Minecraft</em></a>-like twist by Steelehouse Productions. We prefer the cinematic experience of this animated trailer to the recreation of the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/09/the-first-5-minutes-of-star-wars-recreated-in-minecraft/">first five minutes of Star Wars</a>, which was created using <em>Minecraft</em> itself.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/02/mine-of-steel-trailer-blends-superman-with-minecraft/">'Mine of Steel' trailer blends Superman with Minecraft</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Jun 2013 22:00:00 EST. Londoners not attending E3 this year have a video game-centric event of their own to attend called "EToo." EToo was announced as an alternative to E3 with both Sony and PlayJam's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/gamestick">GameStick</a> headlining the event as sponsors. The event's press release noted that over 30 developers will show off their latest games. Demos of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/lost-planet-3">Lost Planet 3</a></em> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/ducktales-remastered"><em>DuckTales</em></a> will be presented by Capcom and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/the-last-of-us"><em>The Last of Us</em></a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/rain"><em>Rain</em></a> will be on display as well, to name a few.<br />
<br />
EToo will be held at the Loading Bar in Soho from Monday, June 10 through Thursday, June 13. The daily events will be free to the public but require <a href="http://etoolondon.eventbrite.co.uk/">registration</a> in advance, while nightly livestream shows have a &pound;6 entry fee. Hopeful attendees will have to act fast, as the June 10 evening show has already sold out.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/02/sony-sponsored-etoo-event-in-london-is-an-alternate-to-e3/">Sony-sponsored 'EToo' event in London is an alternate to E3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Jun 2013 19:00:00 EST. An enormous sign on the LA Convention Center, where E3 will be held starting June 11, pairs <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/dark-souls-2"><em>Dark Souls 2</em></a> with a March 2014 release window. Two separate photos of the sign were posted to the web by <a href="http://www.allgamesbeta.com/2013/06/dark-souls-ii-coming-march-2014-says-e3.html">All Games Beta</a> and Twitter user <a href="https://twitter.com/VaatiVidya/status/341020668810387456/photo/1">VaatiVidya</a>.<br />

While it seems the writing is on the wall, we've contacted Namco Bandai to confirm the game's March 2014 release window.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/02/dark-souls-2-takes-over-los-angeles-building-coming-march-2014/">Dark Souls 2 takes over Los Angeles building, coming March 2014</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Sun, 02 Jun 2013 11:35:00 EST.
