Again, there are many reasons for doing this, the primary being it opens up many possibilities for how you play the game.

Continue reading Me, Myself and I..meet the Alts

Me, Myself and I..meet the Alts originally appeared on Joystiq on Mon, 01 Nov 2004 14:57:00 EST. Here's a special feature on the human side of MMORPGs from guest columnist Miss B, a dedicated
MMORPGer with over a year of Lucas Arts' Star Wars Galaxies under her game playing belt:

At the core of playing any Massive Multi Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) is the inescapable element of human
drama. Whether you're playing in a galaxy far far away, or in a city of heroes, you are bound to come up against
the same pathos of your everyday real life (RL) existence. One area in particular, that of romance, emerges as a
regular if not given element in online game play. There are several dynamics in the MMORPG romance, and they are
all in some way or another dictated by the personal dynamics of those behind the keyboard.

In this HOW-TO we show you how to build your own PC NES controller, which emulator software we used for PC game play, and where to buy the kit or a finished controller if you'd rather not solder one up.

Continue reading HOW-TO: Make a Nintendo controller into a PC Joystick

HOW-TO: Make a Nintendo controller into a PC Joystick originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 07 Sep 2004 11:35:00 EST.
PBS has a pretty amazing look back at the gaming industry and how it got started, changed our world, and how it may
ultimately destroy us all given how gaming is now being adapted for use in modern warfare.
Our pals over at Charmed Labs have released the Xport. The Xport Robot Controller (XRC) turns the Game Boy Advance and
standard LEGO components into an advanced robot development system. Best of all, you can add Bluetooth now.

The Bluetooth module is an add on.

"Class 1" radio with 100 meter range

Up to 200 Kbps continuous, error-free datarate

Integrated chip antenna

Low power (55 mA typical)

Small (0.8" x 1.2")

We'll be trying this out soon and will post anything cool we come up with. We welcome our LEGO driven Bluetooth
connected robot overlords.
