Welcome to <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/snapshot">Snapshot</a>, where we highlight games that might fall outside our usual coverage but are still something we think you should know about. Today: <i>Datura</i> for PS3.</small></font></div><hr /><div style="text-align: center; "> <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/17/snapshot-datura-ps3/"><img alt="" src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/datura420.jpg" style="width: 530px; height: 338px; " /></a></div>Standing amongst fallen leaves in an unknown forest, a face stares at me from the side of a tree. It's not a real face, of course, only a mask. Expending considerable effort, I pry the mask from the tree, revealing a hollow behind it. Housed within the hollow is a small pickaxe. Upon grasping the handle, I black out.<br /><br />I wake up in the middle of a frozen wasteland. Crawling along the hard surface, I clear away some snow with my forearm, exposing the ice underneath. It's not a wasteland at all; it's a <em>lake</em>. Beneath the ice is a golden chalice. A noise from behind prompts me to clear away more snow, exposing a horror underneath: A woman is trapped below the ice, and she's still alive.<br /><br />The pickaxe still rests in my hand, so I immediately go to work, chipping away as the woman squirms against the surface. My heart pounds as the axe falls again and again, slowly cracking the ice. Finally, the ice gives way - directly beneath me - and I tumble into the chilly abyss, sinking down as I watch the light of sky recede into nothingness. Again, I awake in the forest, the mask in my hand, which I quickly discard.<br /><br />This is a moment pulled directly from <a href="http://joystiq.com/game/datura"><em>Datura</em></a>. Did I do something wrong? Something right? I haven't got a clue.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/17/snapshot-datura-ps3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Snapshot: Datura (PS3)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/17/snapshot-datura-ps3/">Snapshot: Datura (PS3)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 17 May 2012 12:30:00 EST. The game will introduce a brand new mode called Spartan Ops, which tells the story of the UNSC Infinity, the massive ship that serves as <em>Halo 4's</em> multiplayer hub (pictured). Spartan Ops will serve as an episodic continuation of <em>Halo 4</em>'s campaign, with weekly cinematic episodes that "center on the UNSC Infinity leaders and crew, and a new team of Spartans - Majestic Squad." Each episode will include new missions, allowing one to four players to "explore the corners of Requiem in these objective-based missions, and help uncover the secrets of the mysterious Forerunner world."<br /><br />Halo 4's competitive multiplayer will be known as War Games and, as <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/05/halo-4-bringing-the-battle-rifle-back-introducing-unlockable-ab/">previously detailed</a>, will offer plenty of character progression and customization, such as armor specializations that enable "combat enhancements" tailored to specific play styles.<br /><br />Both War Games and Spartan Ops are included with the standard edition of <em>Halo 4</em>, though those willing to pony up the dough for the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/halo-4-limited-edition-includes-multiplayer-map-dlc-videos/">$99 special edition</a> will also receive 9 maps (to be doled out across three map packs after launch) and early access to six armor specializations.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/halo-4s-infinity-multiplayer-to-introduce-spartan-ops-war-ga/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Halo 4's 'Infinity' multiplayer to introduce Spartan Ops, War Games</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/halo-4s-infinity-multiplayer-to-introduce-spartan-ops-war-ga/">Halo 4's 'Infinity' multiplayer to introduce Spartan Ops, War Games</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 May 2012 11:40:00 EST. The Geforce GRID platform features "dedicated ultra-low-latency streaming technology and cloud graphics software" and the company believes it will "fundamentally change the economics and experience of cloud gaming."<br /><br />A single GRID unit houses two GPUs based on Nvidia's Kepler technology, which the company says are capable of maintaining eight separate game streams simultaneously, an attractive prospect for gaming service providers. Additionally, "fast streaming technology" will supposedly drop server latency to "as little as 10 milliseconds," which, as we understand it, is <em>pretty fast</em>. So fast that GRID could potentially stream very high-end games to virtually any device, from phone to TV to toaster. Furthermore, Nvidia is working with smart TV manufacturers to reduce ethernet input lag so that, in theory, <a href="http://joystiq.com/tag/gaikai">Gaikai</a> could have latency on par with a console connected via HDMI (or slightly <em>lower</em> latency, if you believe the graph above).<br /><br />Of course, we'll have to wait and see how everything works out in practice, but the possibilities are, in a word, crazypants.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/16/nvidias-grid-platform-hopes-to-dramatically-improve-cloud-gamin/">Nvidia's GRID platform hopes to dramatically improve cloud gaming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 16 May 2012 09:15:00 EST. If you hope to keep having fun, you might want to avoid the game-breaking bug discovered by fellow players. According to many posts <a href="http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4078907877">on the Blizzard forums</a>, equipping a Templar follower with a different shield may result in the game desynchronizing from Blizzard's servers. Users are also reporting that they are unable to log back into <em>Diablo 3</em> - specifically encountering <a href="http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4078817846?page=1">timeout error 3006</a> - even after restarting the game.<br /><br />As noted by <a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-05-15-error-3006-players-discover-game-breaking-bug-in-diablo-3">Eurogamer</a>, the issue may be restricted to the Demon Hunter class. Blizzard is currently looking into the problem. In the meantime, regardless of your class, you should <em>probably</em> avoid swapping equipment with the Templar follower.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> Apparently the issue arises specifically if you swap items that you currently have equipped with the Templar. Still, probably safer to not mess with a Templar's equipment at all for now..<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/15/diablo-3-psa-dont-give-a-templar-follower-a-shield/">Diablo 3 PSA: Don't give a Templar follower a shield</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 15 May 2012 10:00:00 EST. Kalypso and developer RealmForge are really banking on that last one with their upcoming stealth title, <em>Dark</em>. The game "puts players in the role of a vampire out to discover the secrets of the mysterious global GeoForge Corporation."<br /><br />Players will use their vampiric abilities - such as the power to turn into smoke and vanish - in order to take out enemies and generally be sneaky. Also aiding in the sneakiness: A <em>hoodie</em>. Dark is scheduled to arrive on PC and Xbox in early 2013 and, one way or another, it's going to suck.<br /><br />Because <em>vampires</em>, get it?<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dark/">Dark</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dark/#5016807"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/darkactionscreen01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dark/#5016808"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/darkactionscreen02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dark/#5016809"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/darkscreen02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dark/#5016810"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/darkscreen07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/dark/#5016811"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/darkscreen12_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/14/dark-is-a-stealth-game-with-vampires-sneaking-to-xbox-pc/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dark is a stealth game with vampires, sneaking to Xbox, PC</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/14/dark-is-a-stealth-game-with-vampires-sneaking-to-xbox-pc/">Dark is a stealth game with vampires, sneaking to Xbox, PC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 14 May 2012 09:15:00 EST. Images sent to Joystiq by an anonymous tipster reveal an in-store display for Steam Wallet voucher cards in both $20 and $50 amounts. This bolsters the image that <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/report-gamestop-to-start-selling-steam-vouchers-next-week/">made the rounds</a> last week, providing further evidence that the cards will indeed be going on sale at GameStops very soon.<br /><br />The upshot of all this, of course, is that GameStop will be selling gift cards for one of its major competitors, which is especially intriguing as the company has been working to build its own digital distribution platform for several years. We've contacted GameStop and will provide updates as this story develops.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> GameStop has officially announced that it is indeed selling Steam Wallet cards as of ... <em>today</em>. They're available in $20 or $50 denominations. Thankfully, developer Ronimo has revealed that both the first patch and downloadable character are on the way. As you can see in the teaser image above, it's a <em>lady</em>, which makes her the first female Awesomenaut. We don't know anything officially, though she appears to be wielding some sort of energy ball, has a Medusa hairdo and is <em>clearly</em> riding a hoverboard.<br /><br />Furthermore, <em>Awesomenauts</em>' first update is coming down the pipe. The update will include balance fixes suggested by community members, though Ronimo adds that "so far the consensus appears that the game is already fairly well balanced, which is great." <em>Indeed</em>. Patch notes for the update should be coming next week.<br /><br />Finally, Ronimo states that the launch went smoothly, with over half a million games played since launch, though some users have reported connection errors. The studio is working to resolve the issue, which seems to be related to NAT settings, and advises affected players to reset their routers and consoles as a temporary fix.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-new-character/">Awesomenauts (New Character)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-new-character/#5019847"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/agaihcea-1336769261_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/11/first-awesomenauts-dlc-teased-update-incoming/">First Awesomenauts DLC teased, update incoming</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 May 2012 20:00:00 EST. That is, until I walk to the edge of the platform and see an entire desert planet looming below. There's no time, however, to drink in the view. My comrades need help, so I call in a landing pad drop. A capsule screams in from the sky, smashing into the ground as the landing pad installs itself. I climb atop the pad and hop into a Hawk. The massive mech leaps into the air and, in a flash of whirring metal, transforms into a jet and rockets into the sky - at which point my beautiful flying machine is summarily obliterated by a more skilled pilot.<br /><br />The setting changes - different planets, different platforms - but I've repeated the above exercise more often than I'd like to admit. I could do something else. I could call down a supply bunker or a tank. I could concentrate on building defenses, dropping down turrets and walls. <em>Starhawk</em> offers those options, but me, I've got to fly.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starhawk-e3-2011/">StarHawk (E3 2011)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starhawk-e3-2011/#4198842"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/e3starhawkss02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starhawk-e3-2011/#4198843"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/e3starhawkss05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starhawk-e3-2011/#4198844"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/e3starhawkss06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starhawk-e3-2011/#4198845"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/e3starhawkss07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/starhawk-e3-2011/#4198846"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/06/e3starhawkss09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/11/starhawk-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Starhawk review: Drop in, blast off</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/11/starhawk-review/">Starhawk review: Drop in, blast off</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 11 May 2012 18:00:00 EST. Since you're on the internet, you may be doing that already, so feel free to stand up and subsequently sit down again. Ready? Good. It's been a <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2008/08/22/activision-wont-publish-sierra-legacy-titles/">long</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2009/07/23/space-quest-and-kings-quest-collections-join-steam-with-other/">long</a> road, but Sierra's classic Quest for Glory series is finally <a href="http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/quest_for_glory">available on Good Old Games</a>.<br /><br />You can snag all five Quest for Glory games in a single package for just ten bucks. Best of all, the pack seems to be based on the CD-ROM collection, meaning you'll get both the original and VGA enhanced versions of <em>Quest for Glory 1, </em>and the sweet, velvety voice of John Rhys-Davies all up in your <em>Quest for Glory 4</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/10/entire-quest-for-glory-series-now-available-on-gog/">Entire Quest for Glory series now available on GOG</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 10 May 2012 21:00:00 EST. The car-combat title is currently <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/death-rally/id422020153?mt=8">free on the Apple App Store</a>. It's only free for "a limited time" however, so get it while the gettin's good.<br /><br />Remedy is also giving away an iPad via the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/Deathrally"><em>Death Rally</em> Facebook page</a>. To enter the giveaway, users have to simply "like" Death Rally on Facebook. You should probably actually try the game first, of course. Not that we're suggesting anyone would ever "like" something dishonestly.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/death-rally-goes-free-on-ios-for-a-limited-time/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Death Rally goes free on iOS for a limited time</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/death-rally-goes-free-on-ios-for-a-limited-time/">Death Rally goes free on iOS for a limited time</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 May 2012 15:15:00 EST. Enter <em>Haunts: The Manse Macabre</em>, the first game from Mob Rules Games, a studio founded by Cryptic Studios vets. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/11/27/mob-rules-games-wants-you-to-vote-on-its-next-game-for-free-thi/">Voted by fans</a> to be the studio's first project, <em>Haunts</em> has one team investigating a haunted mansion, while the other team tries to put an end to those who would invade their home.<br /><br /><em>Haunts</em> features a single-player campaign and online multiplayer for Mac, PC and Linux. The visuals are inspired by the work of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Clarke">Harry Clark</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Gorey">Edward Gorey</a>, artists known for their iconic, creepy illustrations. The intruders choose a goal - recovering a specific artifact from the mansion, for example - which is unknown to the opposing team. Each team also selects its units in secret, making every game different.<br /><br />Having raised over $40,000 from other sources, Mob Rules Games is <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2066438441/haunts-the-manse-macabre">running a Kickstarter</a> for an additional $25,000 to finish the project. As expected, there are various rewards for different donation levels, but perhaps the most interesting is that every $5 donated nets donors an additional copy of the game, which they are free to keep, sell, give to a friend or just <em>hoard</em>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/mob-rules-games-launches-kickstarter-for-haunts-the-manse-macab/">Mob Rules Games launches Kickstarter for Haunts: The Manse Macabre</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 May 2012 13:45:00 EST. The "Colossal Mayhem" pack adds a number of new goodies, including a "Thermobaric Boom-Stick" weapon and a number of new powers and skins for Heller, the game's protagonist. The pack is available now for $5 on PSN and Xbox Live.<br /><br />The next round of DLC, available May 29, has already been announced as well. The "Excessive Force" pack will include a "Viral Infector" grenade launcher and yet more powers and skins. It will also sell for $5.<br /><br />In other <em>Prototype 2</em> news, a companion app has been released for <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.soapcreative.prototype2&amp;feature=more_from_developer%23?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLnNvYXBjcmVhdGl2ZS5wcm90b3R5cGUyIl0.">Android</a> and <a href="http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/prototype-2-official-sidekick/id516396305?mt=8">iOS</a>. The app allows users to keep track of achievements and in-game collectible thanks to some handy maps that have all collectibles marked. The app itself is free, though it only includes one map, the Yellow Zone. The remaining two maps can be purchased for $2.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/prototype-2-mutates-with-fresh-dlc-ios-and-android-companion-ap/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Prototype 2 mutates with fresh DLC, iOS and Android companion apps</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/09/prototype-2-mutates-with-fresh-dlc-ios-and-android-companion-ap/">Prototype 2 mutates with fresh DLC, iOS and Android companion apps</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 09 May 2012 11:45:00 EST. Writing on <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/05/08/starhawk-out-today-mlg-tournament-all-map-packs-free/">PlayStation Blog</a>, Jobe noted that the paid downloadable content divided the <em>Warhawk</em> community with every expansion, and "after we released three expansions, our player community was pretty fractured."<br /><br />Lightbox hopes to remedy that this time around by making all map packs free. Jobe added that there is still paid DLC in the works, though Lightbox is "still playing around with what that will be." The studio is already working on the first map pack, which will include the planet Cypress, pictured in the early concept art above.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/08/all-starhawk-map-packs-free-in-response-to-divisive-warhawk-cont/">All Starhawk map packs free in response to divisive Warhawk content</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 May 2012 20:00:00 EST. Now, the company is finally ready to reveal his first project, <em>Bubble Safari</em>. Zynga's first arcade title, <em>Bubble Safari </em>tasks a former space program monkey named Bubbles (not <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson_and_Bubbles"><em>that</em> Bubbles</a>, presumably) with saving his jungle friends. Bubbles does so in the only logical way: A match-three bubble-popping puzzle game.<br /><br /><em>Bubble Safari</em> will launch tomorrow on both Facebook and Zynga.com, with a mobile version under consideration.<br /><br />It might seem strange for Turmell to move from the likes of <em>Smash TV</em>, <em>NBA Jam</em> and <em>NFL Blitz</em> to a puzzle game, but he sees them all as fundamentally arcade experiences. "Match-three games have been around for 20-plus years," he says, "even the original <em>Bust-A-Move</em> in the arcade was one of my favorite games - that was in the same era as <em>NBA Jam</em>."<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bubble-safari/">Bubble Safari</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bubble-safari/#5009755"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/bubble-safarihummingbirds_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bubble-safari/#5009754"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/bubble-safaribubbles-from-friends_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bubble-safari/#5009756"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/bubble-safarilightning_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bubble-safari/#5009758"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/bubble-safarimap_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/bubble-safari/#5009759"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/bubble-safarimulti-player_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/08/how-mark-turmell-went-from-creating-nba-jam-to-match-three-at-zy/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>How Mark Turmell went from creating NBA Jam to match-three at Zynga</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/08/how-mark-turmell-went-from-creating-nba-jam-to-match-three-at-zy/">How Mark Turmell went from creating NBA Jam to match-three at Zynga</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 08 May 2012 16:00:00 EST. The developer banged out a game in 48 hours for the <a href="http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&amp;uid=12633">23rd Ludum Dare 48 competition</a>, which went down from April 20-23. Entitled <em>Fracuum</em>, the game tasks players with navigating a cube through a maze of traps and hazards. Graphically, it's not terribly different from early efforts on the Atari 2600, though it comes packing a twist.<br /><br />Taking on the Ludum Dare 23 theme of "Tiny World," each level of <em>Fracuum</em> has another level embedded inside of it, creating a loop of levels within levels and a mild case of tunnel vision. It's easier to play than it is to explain, so just head over to <a href="http://www.glaielgames.com/LD48/fracuum.html">Glaiel's website</a> and try it out. Ludum Dare 48 voting closes in just under a week.<br /><br />[Thanks, Cal.]<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/07/fracuum-the-game-within-a-game-from-closures-tyler-glaiel/">Fracuum, the game within a game from Closure's Tyler Glaiel</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 May 2012 18:30:00 EST. Unfortunately, that's about all we know. Illiger noted that the game will be for iOS but, "otherwise it's a big secret, I am not telling anything to anyone."<br /><br />Regarding the development of <em>Tiny Wings</em>, Illiger noted that he wanted to create a positive game about the dream of flying. The shots show off 25 different titles, some of which are already known, and some that aren't. Notable games include <em>Rabbids Party Land</em>, <em>Marvel Super Heroes</em>, <em>Just Dance 4</em>, <em>Monsters Party</em> and <em>Sports Connection</em>. Granted, many titles may be placeholders. For example, "Zombie" seems like an awfully vague title.<br /><br />There's no way to know how accurate the list actually is, though there are plenty of Ubisoft titles listed, so it certainly feels like a proper console launch. Check out the full list after the break.<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> A <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=37629861&amp;postcount=66">user on NeoGAF</a> who claims to have recently left Blockbuster's employment has stated that the company's list of Wii U titles is "entirely speculated by the sales team" and that titles are "there purely as placeholders." <br /><br />[Thanks, Vallanthaz]<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/07/report-blockbuster-uk-lists-25-wii-u-titles/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Report: Blockbuster UK lists 25 Wii U titles</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/07/report-blockbuster-uk-lists-25-wii-u-titles/">Report: Blockbuster UK lists 25 Wii U titles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 07 May 2012 10:30:00 EST. The game has been in development since 2007 by a team of 250, according to a post on <a href="http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=472749">NeoGAF</a>. It will feature full voice acting throughout and will be played from a third-person perspective (generally not the most efficient way to play previous Elder Scrolls titles). As mentioned in yesterday's announcement, <em>The Elder Scrolls Online</em> takes place 1000 years in the past and will span almost all of Tamriel, though certain areas are being saved for the purposes of future expansions.<br /><br />Zenimax Online is reportedly doing its best to strike a balance between the Elder Scrolls series and traditional MMOs, trying to appeal to players of both. In other words, yes, expect to use a traditional MMO hotbar to access your skills. You can also expect epic player-vs-player battles - up to 100-vs-100 in some instances - as factions compete to take over Cyrodil's Imperial City, with the winning faction installing its greatest champion as emperor. The NeoGAF post has plenty of other details and, of course, July's issue of Game Informer has even more.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-elder-scrolls-online-concept-art/">The Elder Scrolls Online (Concept Art)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-elder-scrolls-online-concept-art/#5003809"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/elderscrollsonline01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-elder-scrolls-online-concept-art/#5003810"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/elderscrollsonline02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-elder-scrolls-online-concept-art/#5003811"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/elderscrollsonline03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-elder-scrolls-online-concept-art/#5003812"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/elderscrollsonline04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/the-elder-scrolls-online-concept-art/#5003813"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/05/elderscrollsonline05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/04/first-elder-scrolls-online-details-unfurled/">First Elder Scrolls Online details unfurled</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 04 May 2012 10:00:00 EST. Pacific Squadron WWII</em>. As the rather unwieldy title implies, <em>Damage Inc.</em> is a flight combat game set in the Pacific theater of World War II, beginning with the attack on Pearl Harbor and progressing through "23 historically accurate missions and 100+ mission objectives." The game will also feature online co-op and versus multiplayer. <em>Damage Inc.</em> will be released on Xbox and PS3 this summer.<br /><br />And, if you're still wondering why a peripheral manufacturer would be dabbling in publishing, meet the <a href="http://damageincthegame.com/gear">Pacific AV8R Flightstick</a>. The stick will be included with the collector's edition of Damage Inc, which has yet to be priced. Strangely, the <em>Damage Inc.</em> website showcases a PC version of the stick, though no PC version of the game has been announced.<br /><br />We'll be giving the game a spin at E3 next month. In the meantime, check out some fresh trailers and screens.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/damage-inc-pacific-squadron-wwii/">Damage Inc. As reported by the <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17922623">BBC</a>, WebMediaBrands tracks Facebook usage as it relates to mobile applications. According to the data, the number of daily users that log in to <em>Draw Something</em> via Facebook dropped from 14.3 million 10.4 million from April 2 to May 2, suggesting that the game may be losing its death-like grip on the masses.<br /><br />Zynga <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/03/21/wsj-zynga-buys-draw-something-dev-for-200-million/">acquired <em>Draw Something</em> developer OMGPOP</a> in March for a cool $200 million. It's important to note that the report doesn't include all <em>Draw Something</em> users, as it's also possible to connect with just an email address. Still, assuming the report is accurate, a decline of nearly 4 million daily users probably isn't the best news for the company after making such a large investment.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/02/report-draw-something-daily-users-declining-rapidly/">Report: Draw Something daily users declining rapidly</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 02 May 2012 12:30:00 EST. It attempted to give Ninja Gaiden's Ryu Hayabusa <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/09/18/hayashi-ninja-gaiden-3s-dismemberment-free-gameplay-adds-meani/">a softer side</a>, for one. Only two months ago, Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi said <em>Dead or Alive 5</em> will <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/14/hayashi-team-ninja-taming-its-sex-and-violence-image-in-doa-5/">rise beyond</a> "sex and violence," instead pursing "a direction that contains emotional experiences that can move players."<br /><br />Now, in an interview with <a href="http://www.famitsu.com/news/201204/29014056.html">Famitsu</a>, Hayashi has now revealed that <em>Dead or Alive 5</em>'s voluptuous vixens will feature costume-specific breast physics. Furthermore, each costume will have varying levels of transparency. It <em>sounds</em> like a contradiction to Hayashi's previous statements ... that is, of course, until you realize that "move" is a very ambiguous term.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/dead-or-alive-5-has-costume-specific-breast-physics/">Dead or Alive 5 has costume-specific breast physics</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 May 2012 21:00:00 EST. Donnez-moi ton fromage. Je donne tu mon amour." My high school French teacher, Madame Rose, would probably take issue with the grammar, but it translates to "Give me your money. Give me your cheese. I give you my love."<br /><br />I mention this to make a point. While <em>Awesomenauts</em> was certainly inspired by the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre, it is by no means merely derivative. It cobbles together a strong identity of its own, accomplished in part by translating a familiar experience into a new format, and in part by cribbing from the memories of the 1980s to create a Saturday morning cartoon that never existed.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-12-6-11/">Awesomenauts (12/6/11)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-12-6-11/#4660545"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/screenshot-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-12-6-11/#4660546"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/screenshot-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-12-6-11/#4660547"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/screenshot-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-12-6-11/#4660548"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/screenshot-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/awesomenauts-12-6-11/#4660549"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2011/12/screenshot-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/awesomenauts-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Awesomenauts review: Feel the magic, hear the roar</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/awesomenauts-review/">Awesomenauts review: Feel the magic, hear the roar</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 May 2012 15:45:00 EST. Each player will be assigned a home region based on location, but will also have the option of playing on another server if desired.<br /><br />All characters, items and friends lists will be exclusive to a single region. The same rule applies to the in-game auction houses.<br /><br />The <em>Diablo 3</em> website has also been updated with <a href="http://us.battle.net/d3/en/services/auction-house/how-to">a new guide</a> to the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2011/08/01/diablo-3-to-feature-player-to-player-real-money-auction-house-fo/">auction house feature</a>. Said guide explains the process of buying or selling items step-by-step. It also answers some questions regarding the transaction fees associated with auctions. All in-game gold auctions include a 15 percent transaction fee, while real-money auctions vary somewhat.<br /><br />In North America, a $1.00 fee applies to all equipment auctions (weapons, armor, etc.), while a 15 percent fee applies to commodities auctions (gems, etc.). According to the auction house FAQ, the reasoning behind the percentage-based fee on commodities is that, unlike equipment, such items can be listed in bulk quantities.<br /><br />The proceeds of real-money auctions can be transferred to a player's Battle.net Balance or to an approved third-party service such as PayPal. For everyone out there with dreams of Scrooge McDuck-level riches, be warned that transfers to third-party services are also subject to a 15 percent transfer fee. If you're still confused, check out the <a href="http://us.battle.net/support/en/article/diablo-iii-auction-house-general-information">FAQ</a> for yourself.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/diablo-3-getting-global-play-auction-house-explained/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Diablo 3 getting Global Play, auction house explained</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/diablo-3-getting-global-play-auction-house-explained/">Diablo 3 getting Global Play, auction house explained</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 May 2012 13:45:00 EST. In fact, developer darkForge has raised $12,000 beyond its goal, with around 60 hours to go as of this writing. The developer hopes to use the extra funds to add more modes and options to <em>Nekro</em>, specifically character customization and an online co-op mode.<br /><br />Should darkForge raise $120,000, it will include character customization, notably the ability to create either a male or female necromancer, while the co-op mode goal is currently $150,000. A versus multiplayer mode, unfortunately, is not in the cards, as "the amount of work required to balance spells, items and units is just too great," and darkForge would rather concentrate on the single-player experience.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/01/nekro-reaches-kickstarter-goal-dev-hopes-to-add-customization/">Nekro reaches Kickstarter goal, dev hopes to add customization, co-op</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 01 May 2012 11:15:00 EST. As the title implies, the cast of Sega characters drive transforming vehicles this time around, with screenshots showing off planes, boats and, of course, cars. The roster now includes more favorite Sega characters, including Vyse from <em>Skies of Arcadia</em> and Gilius Thunderhead (A.K.A. "the dwarf") from <em>Golden Axe</em>.<br /><br />The game also promises dynamic tracks and a "fair weapon system" that allows players to block or evade incoming attacks. One of those tracks is based on Panzer Dragoon, which makes this racing sequel the closest thing to a new Panzer Dragoon game in a long time (well, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/crimson-dragon">almost</a>).<br /><br /><em>Sonic &amp; All-Stars Racing Transformed</em> will make its way to Xbox, PS3, Vita, 3DS and PC this holiday.<div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed/">Sonic &amp; All-Stars Racing Transformed</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed/#4993980"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/sonicalrt02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed/#4993981"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/sonicalrt03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed/#4993982"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/sonicalrt04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed/#4993983"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/sonicalrt05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed/#4993984"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2012/04/sonicalrt06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/04/30/sega-announces-sonic-and-all-stars-racing-transformed/">Sega announces Sonic &amp; All-Stars Racing Transformed</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 30 Apr 2012 13:15:00 EST.
