The former Sony Liverpool devs at Sawfly Studios are bringing <em>Men's Room Mayhem</em> to Vita next week, via PSN. It should arrive on May 21 in North America, although as always with news revealed by the <a href="https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/official-playstation-blogcast/id483223024">PlayStation Blogcast</a>, dates can be subject to change.<br />
<br />
If you're curious about the curiously named game, Phil Gaskell from publisher Ripstone describes it as "<em>Flight Control </em>meets <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carry_On_at_Your_Convenience"><em>Carry on at Your Convenience</em></a>." - No, it's not the flight paths of... that stuff, but about getting patrons to where they need to go.<br />
<br />
"In <em>Men's Room Mayhem</em> you're hired as the janitor of your very own chaotic men's room," said Gaskell on the <a href="http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/05/02/mens-room-mayhem-enforces-laws-of-the-lav-on-ps-vita-soon/">PlayStation Blog</a>. "You're responsible for directing patrons, keeping everywhere sparkling clean and steering patrons away from trouble! You need to get your customers safely to the urinals and cubicles in time - otherwise there'll be a few nasty accidents for you to clean up!"<br />
<br />
The Blogcast also outed a wee (ahem) bit of other content in next week's PS Store update. A "smattering of DLC" is coming to <em>Aliens: Colonial Marines, </em>although the podcast wasn't any more specific than that<em>. A</em> digital PS3 version of <em>Mugen Souls</em> is also due.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/mens-room-mayhem-hits-psn-next-week-aliens-colonial-marines-d/">Men's Room Mayhem hits PSN next week, Aliens: Colonial Marines DLC</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 12:45:00 EST. The <em>Super Luigi U</em> DLC for <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/new-super-mario-bros-u"><em>New Super Mario Bros. U</em></a> is being released as a digital download for the game on June 20 in both North America and Europe. However, it's also coming to retail as a packaged standalone. It'll be available August 25 in North America, and July 26 in Europe. The DLC will be priced at $19.99, while the standalone is $29.99. You won't need <em>NSMB U</em> to play the packaged game.<br />
<br />
This morning's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/nintendo-direct-summer-may-17/">Nintendo Direct</a> also revealed that Nabbit, a little critter who you chased in the first game, is a playable character in the new content. He'll be available in multiplayer games as an easier alternative to Luigi and the Toads. He won't take damage when he touches enemies, but to balance that he won't be able to use power-ups. <br />
<br />
<em>Super Luigi U</em> makes changes to<em> NSMB U</em>'s campaign to make every course "all-new" - it's essentially a new Luigi campaign.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/super-luigi/">Super Luigi U arrives as DLC June 20, packaged standalone August 25</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 10:21:00 EST. Sega and Nintendo have entered into a "worldwide partnership" on three upcoming Sonic games, and the first fruit borne from it is <em>Sonic: Lost World</em>. It's coming to Wii U and 3DS, and there'll be more news on it prior to E3.<br />
<br />
Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said on this morning's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/nintendo-direct-summer-may-17/">Nintendo Direct</a>: "<em>Sonic: Lost World</em> is a brand new action-adventure platforming game that will launch exclusively on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/sonic-lost-world-confirmed-for-wii-u-3ds/">Sonic: Lost World announced, launches 'exclusively' for Wii U, 3DS</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 10:05:00 EST. <br />
We're not sure today's Nintendo Direct will announce much in the way of new Wii U games. Well, it' unlikely to reveal any new <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/ea-has-no-wii-u-games-in-development/">EA ones</a>, anyway. What we <em>do</em> know is that the North American broadcast covers Wii U and 3DS games coming in the summer.<br />
<br />
As ever, the North American stream intertwines with simultaneous ones from Europe and Japan. Ninty's Euro division says its stream is about spring and summer Wii U games. Should you prefer, you can find both those streams after the break.<br />
<br />
We hope you're ready to rumble, because this summer party gets started at 10AM ET (7AM PT, 3PM UK) right here on this post, right here on this Joystiq. We'll have all the news for you as it's revealed, like lots of little suns peeking out from behind an Iwata-shaped cloud.<br />
<br />
<strong>Update: </strong>It's all over, friends.<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-direct-summer"> And there <em>was</em> a new game..</a><em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/nintendo-direct-summer">.</a> </em><p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/nintendo-direct-summer-may-17/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Watch this morning's summery Nintendo Direct right here [update: and it's done]</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/nintendo-direct-summer-may-17/">Watch this morning's summery Nintendo Direct right here [update: and it's done]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 09:50:00 EST. Series creator Hideo Kojima announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metal-gear-rising-revengeance"><em>Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance</em></a> is coming to the PC. Speaking on his HideRadio podcast, Kojima revealed the upcoming port. The news was then confirmed by Platinum Games creative producer Jean Pierre Kellams.<br />

Epic lays down <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/gears-of-war-judgment">Gears of War: Judgment</a> </em>with new multiplayer DLC in June. The 'Lost Relics' pack a new gametype and four further maps, including the return of 'Checkout' from Gears of War 3. Also bundled in are new armor and weapon skins.<br />
<br />
The gametype is called Breakthrough. It features one team trying to get a flag from A to B, and another trying to stop them. The attacking team has a limited pool of lives, while the defensive team has unlimited resources. Sounds like the attacking team's has their work cut out.<br />
<br />
You can peruse layouts of the four maps - that's Checkout, Lost City, Museum, and Ward (for OverRun) - in the gallery just below these words. More details are due in the coming weeks. Finally, in case you missed it, <em>Judgment</em> received a free OverRun map <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/10/gears-of-war-judgment-gets-free-overrun-map-may-15/">earlier this week</a>. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-judgment-lost-relics-maps/">Gears of War: Judgment (Lost Relics maps)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-judgment-lost-relics-maps/#5887497"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/checkoutmap_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-judgment-lost-relics-maps/#5887499"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/lostcitymap_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-judgment-lost-relics-maps/#5887500"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/museummap_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/gears-of-war-judgment-lost-relics-maps/#5887501"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/wardmapwithobjectives_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/17/gears-of-war-judgment-gets-lost-relics-multiplayer-dlc-next-m/">Gears of War: Judgment gets 'Lost Relics' multiplayer DLC next month</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Fri, 17 May 2013 07:30:00 EST. <br />
Ahead of <em>Arrested Development</em> blue-ing up on screens once more when the fourth season arrives <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2013/apr/04/arrested-development-netflix-may-26">later this month</a>, Netflix released a sizzle reel (below the break) for the sitcom's hapless actor wannabe Tobias F&uuml;nke. As ever, Tobias' awkward choice of words is the star of the show, but the <em>Jumpman</em> cameo is a very close second.<br />
<br />
That'd be pretty tenuous to post on its own, but thankfully Capcom stepped in and gave us the perfect excuse. Responding to Tobias' call in the sizzle reel - "Insert me anywhere!" - Capcom did just that with a selection of its classic games. And now we want a Mega Man game with Dr F&uuml;nke as the villain. "Shit gets really weird" in <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/fuse"><em>Fuse</em></a>. Not our words, but those of Overstrike 9's Dalton Brooks. Still, would be a great tagline for <em>Fuse</em>, or any game for that matter. Oh well, Insomniac's <em>Fuse</em> will have to make do without when it launches on May 28 for PS3 and Xbox 360. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/">Fuse (Launch)</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884728"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884730"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884731"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884732"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/fuse-launch/#5884733"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/fuse05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/fuse-ignites-launch-trailer-new-screens/">Fuse ignites launch trailer, new screens</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 12:30:00 EST. Nintendo of America tell us it's got a Direct for tomorrow that's focused on summer Wii U and 3DS games. The company's Euro division also has a Wii U-focused Direct scheduled for the same time. Just to be different, its Direct is on spring <em>and</em> summer Wii U games. We've no confirmation of one for Japan yet, but chances are tomorrow's another worldwide triforce of Directs.<br />
<br />
Nintendo of Europe also announced there'll be a Direct broadcast around the time of next month's E3 conference, and that one will cover Wii U games for "autumn and beyond." Nintendo <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/nintendo-details-its-new-e3-plans/">recently revealed</a> it'll have two closed events at E3 in lieu of the traditional presentation. The company noted "Nintendo Direct videos in the run up to E3," so there may be more pre-E3 broadcasts beyond the autumn one.<br />
<br />
As ever, you'll be able to tune in to tomorrow's streams here on Joystiq, so we recommend you move precisely no muscles for the next day or so. Well, the streams will be in a new post, so you'll have to move some muscles. Apart from that, we'll see you right here(-ish) at 10AM ET (7AM PT, 3PM UK) tomorrow.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/nintendo-direct-tomorrow-may-17/">Wii U Direct tomorrow covers summer, autumn details around E3</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 11:00:00 EST. Newly registered trademarks and domains point to Sonic's return in something subtitled <em>Lost World(s)</em>. Sega Europe trademarked <em>Sonic: Lost World</em> just yesterday, and locked down domains for both SonicLostWorld.com and SonicLostWorlds.com on Monday, May 13.<br />
<br />
The cerulean critter's last major outing, discounting <em>Sonic 4 Episode 2</em>, was <em>Sonic Generations</em> in November 2011. Sega's been <a href="http://blogs.sega.com/2013/02/02/happy-hedgehog-day-3/">teasing</a> this year as a big one for Sonic fans, and you have to go back to the days of <em>Sonic Adventure 2</em> and <em>Sonic Heroes</em> for as long a gap between major 3D Sonic games.<br />
<br />
We've reached out to Sega, but we suspect we'll find out more about Sonic's next outing, and whether it involves more than one lost world or not, at next month's E3 shindig.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/sonic-lost-world-trademarked-domains-registered-by-sega/">Sonic: Lost World trademarked, domains registered by Sega</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 08:30:00 EST. A new achievements listing suggests <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/crysis-3"><em>Crysis 3</em></a> is suiting up for multiplayer DLC. Posted on the typically reliable <a href="http://www.xbox360achievements.org/game/crysis-3/achievements/">Xbox 360 Achievements</a>, the listing indicates a 250G pack featuring four maps called Creek, Crossing, Ascent, and Coastline, and two modes called Frenzy and Team Possession. The mention of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTduy7Qkvk8">a flag</a> points to Team Possession being a CTF variant.<br />
<br />
The DLC apparently also has a new weapon: the boat oar. We mainly wanted to mention it because the associated achievement is called '<a href="http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mbiqec1JUw1ri1mxoo1_400.gif">Totally Oarsome.' </a><br />
<br />
EA hasn't announced any upcoming DLC for Crysis 3, although developer Crytek previously indicated it had <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/391874/crytek-has-big-plans-for-crysis-3-dlc/">"big plans"</a> for post-launch content. We've reached out to EA for more info.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/crysis-3-multiplayer-dlc-emerges-via-achievements-listing/">Crysis 3 multiplayer DLC emerges via achievements listing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 08:00:00 EST. In what's come across as far too amicable to be called a dispute, Notion Games has accepted Ubisoft's request and changed the name of its upcoming platformer to <em>Super Ubie Land</em>. The PC and Mac platformer, successfully funded through Kickstarter to launch later this year, was originally christened <em>Super Ubi Land</em>. Ubisoft then <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/09/ubisoft-asks-super-ubi-land-dev-to-change-games-name/">stepped in</a> and asked for the name to be changed, which Notion's now done with little fuss.<br />
<br />
By the way, that's our interpretation above of how <em>Super Ubie Land'</em>s new logo will look. As if the sheer quality didn't make that obvious.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/super-ubi-land-becomes-super-ubie-land-as-dev-complies-with-ubis/">Super Ubi Land becomes Super Ubie Land as dev complies with Ubisoft's request</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 07:00:00 EST. The PlayStation Japan website just unveiled a trailer for what's apparently a new Japan Studio game, possibly called <em>Panopticon</em> going by the page name. The unveiling followed a week-long countdown, which was more like a count-up since the timer eventually ticked up to "1,000,000 years." It did just that at 6AM ET, with this trailer in its stead.<br />
<br />
The trailer depicts a futuristic, totalitarian world where citizens are seemingly identified by virtually visualized ID numbers. There's no indication of any platforms or release date.<br />
<br />
Earlier this year, <a href="http://gamingeverything.com/38990/scee-trademarks-panopticon-redblack-symbol/">it was spotted</a> SCE Europe <a href="http://esearch.oami.europa.eu/copla/trademark/data/011512407">trademarked</a> <em>Panopticon. </em>The word <a href="http://www.thefreedictionary.com/panoptic">traces it roots</a> to the Greek language, and means to "include everything visible in one view."<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/sonys-panopticon-countdown-ends-with-mysterious-trailer/">Sony's Panopticon countdown ends with mysterious trailer</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 06:00:00 EST. A <a href="https://www.waystonegames.com/betaSignup/intro">website</a> for a new fantasy MOBA called <em>Dawngate</em> launched this morning, listing EA and a company called Waystone Games as involved. As spotted by online sleuth <a href="https://twitter.com/supererogatory/status/334946132440539136">superannuation</a>, the site apparently launched early. Links to Twitch. Twitter, and YouTube lead to accounts either inactive or private.<br />

"<em>Dawngate</em> is a new MOBA," the page reads, "Built from the ground up to look and feel familiar while offering a whole new way to experience MOBA gameplay. <em>Dawngate</em> empowers you to forge the champions you love for the roles you want in a competitive arena, shaped by ever-evolving, community-driven content and story."<br />
<br />
Superannuation suggests <em>Dawngate</em> is the MOBA <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/09/visceral-games-may-be-working-on-a-moba-game/">seemingly outed</a> by Visceral Games job listings late last year, and that Visceral's free-to-play group has been renamed Waystone Games. Apart from the little that's on the site, there's no other info on the studio.<br />
<br />
Earlier this year, it was <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/05/report-dead-space-4-canceled-after-poor-dead-space-3-sales/">speculated</a> Visceral had undergone massive restructuring following below-target sales of <em>Dead Space 3</em>, claims which EA strenuously denied. EA recently announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/08/ea-lays-off-900-employees-in-organizational-restructuring/">900 layoffs</a> across its total workforce as part of organizational restructuring.<br />
<br />
The<em> Dawngate</em> website has a page that allows users to register for a chance to take part in an upcoming beta. As far as we could see, signing up requires an Origin account.<br />

We've seen plenty of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/shin-megami-tensei-4"><em>Shin Megami Tensei 4</em></a> in Japanese, so here's a better, albeit brief look at how the upcoming 3DS RPG looks and sounds in English. North America passed the rite to receive the Atlus game on July 16, while Europe is still waiting in the wings with a summer release window. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/16/shin-megami-tensei-4-trailer-is-definitely-going-to-be-a-samurai/">Shin Megami Tensei 4 trailer is definitely going to be a samurai</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Thu, 16 May 2013 04:00:00 EST. Former THQ president Jason Rubin has spoken about the struggles <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/metro-last-light"><em>Metro: Last Light</em></a> developer 4A Games went through to get its game to launch. In a post on <a href="http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-05-15-jason-rubin-metro-last-light-is-the-triumph-of-an-underdog">GamesIndustry International</a>, Rubin extolled the efforts of the Ukrainian studio, citing a relatively meager budget, cramped working conditions, and extreme logistical troubles as major adversities.<br />
<br />
According to Rubin, the game's development budget was "less than some of its competitors spend on cut scenes, a mere 10 percent of the budget of its biggest competitors." That budget apparently didn't extend to swanky office equipment, with 4A's staff sat "elbow to elbow" at card tables and on folding chairs. Upon seeing 4A Games in person, Rubin wrote, he wanted to buy them proper office chairs, but the logistics were something else.<br />
<br />
"When 4A needed another dev kit, or high-end PC, or whatever," Rubin wrote, "Someone from 4A had to fly to the States and sneak it back to the Ukraine in a backpack lest it be 'seized' at the border by thieving customs officials. After visiting the team I wanted to buy them Aeron office chairs, considered a fundamental human right in the west. There were no outlets in the Ukraine, and our only option was to pack a truck in Poland and try to find an 'expediter' to help bribe its way down to Kiev."<br />
<br />
In the end, the offices were too cramped for the wider Aeron chairs anyway.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/ex-thq-president-rubin-discusses-terrible-metro-working-conditio/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Ex-THQ president Rubin discusses cramped Metro working conditions</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/ex-thq-president-rubin-discusses-terrible-metro-working-conditio/">Ex-THQ president Rubin discusses cramped Metro working conditions</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 13:30:00 EST. Ubisoft has shipped and digitally sold 6 million units of <em>Far Cry 3 </em>since its release late last year. That's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/07/assassins-creed-3-at-more-than-12m-shipped-far-cry-3-over-4-5m/">1.5 million more</a> than the figure reported in Ubi's Q3 report back in February.<br />
<br />
 <em>Assassin's Creed 3</em> sits at 12.5 million shipped and digitally sold (it was at over 12 million back in February), while <em>Just Dance 4</em> is up to 8.5 million shipped.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/far-cry-3-up-to-6-million-shipped-and-digital-sales/">Far Cry 3 up to 6 million shipped, digitally sold</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 12:01:00 EST. European PlayStation Plus subscribers have plenty to keep themselves busy with when the rain inevitably lashes down on Wimbledon next month. June's Plus update brings two very different breeds of RPG to the PS3's Instant Game Collection in <em>Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning</em> and <em>Demon's Souls</em>, as well the <em>Ico and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection</em>. All three games arrive a wee bit early on May 29.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile on Vita, June features <em>Rayman Origins</em> and <em>Coconut Dodge Revitalized</em> for the portable. Both Vita games join the Collection on June 5. <em>Coconut Dodge Revitalized</em> is the next Futurlab PS Mini to get the HD treatment. As before, the self-explanatory (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/10/coconut-dodge-bounces-to-psn-may-19-in-europe-soon-in-us/">or not</a>) 2D high-scorer gets leaderboards and trophies support on Vita.<br />
<br />
As ever, the revolving door that is PS Plus means new arrivals are countered by departures. <em>Hitman: Absolution</em>, <em>Joe Danger 2</em>, and <em>Dead or Alive 5</em> leave the service on May 29, followed by <em>Sine Mora </em>on June 5, and Futurlab's <em>Velocity Ultra</em> on June 12.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/ps-plus-europe-explores-amalur-demons-souls-ico-sotc-in-june/">PS Plus Europe explores Amalur, Demon's Souls, Ico/SotC in June</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 10:15:00 EST. Sony's slogan for the PS4 may be "Greatness Awaits," based on a recent trademark and a purported ad leak. It's emerged Sony Computer Entertainment America trademarked the term last week, just ahead of next month's E3 conference. That on its own doesn't mean much, but it backs up Siliconera's prior report of a leaked script for a PS4 ad, with the term used as a slogan for the upcoming console.<br />
<br />
The script, which <a href="http://www.siliconera.com/2013/05/09/sonys-playstation-4-marketing-slogan-is-greatness-awaits/">Siliconera</a> has in full, certainly resembles PlayStation's unique brand of surreal, high-octane advertising. It features a man walking down a road, talking at the camera and demanding the viewer not to be ordinary, afraid, or a slave to the past.<br />
<br />
Around him buildings appear "increasingly damaged," and the scene grows more chaotic as windows break apart, two people covered in yellow paint sprint past him, and eventually a crowd of followers fall in line behind him. It even features a "homemade flag [sic] painted with the icon from <em>Destiny</em>" being unfurled out of a window, and a "giant spacecraft from Killzone" flying overhead.<br />
<br />
The ad closes with the man saying, "Who are you to deny greatness? If you would deny it to yourself, you deny it to the entire world... And we will not be denied."<br />
<br />
Then the words 'Greatness Awaits' appear on screen, followed or joined by 'PlayStation.'<br />
<br />
We've reached out to Sony for comment.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/sony-america-trademarks-greatness-awaits-points-to-ps4-slogan/">Sony America trademarks 'Greatness Awaits,' points to PS4 slogan</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 09:30:00 EST. EA is bringing a new DICE studio to Los Angeles, and it's expected to be a key part in the creation of new Star Wars games. As the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887324715704578483171152663246.html">Wall Street Journal</a> reports, DICE LA hopes to take advantage of the area's "extreme talent pool," a pool Activision is already knee-deep in via Infinity Ward and Treyarch, both based in California. DICE LA plans to employ 60 members by the end of 2013, and is keen to bring the very best to the studio.<br />
<br />
"There is an extreme talent pool over [there] that we want to be a part of," DICE General Manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson told WSJ. "It's no secret our main competitor is there."<br />
<br />
Troedsson didn't reveal just how much the company is investing in the new studio. The news comes after what's been an eventful month for EA. The company announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/08/ea-lays-off-900-employees-in-organizational-restructuring/">900 layoffs</a> due to restructuring, estimated to be 10 percent of its then workforce. However, EA is clearly looking to build big on the platform of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/06/ea-disney-exclusive-rights-star-wars/">exclusive rights to Star Wars games</a>.<br />

Here's a better feel for how battles work in the upcoming <em>Time and Eternity</em>, thankfully without <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/22/nis-america-bringing-disgaea-d2-the-guided-fate-paradox-and-ti/"><em>that</em> voiceover</a>. In the Imageepoch PS3 RPG you control two souls trapped in one magical princess body, trying to escape the cycle of a recurring wedding day. Like most weddings, then.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/time-and-eternity-trailer-features-two-souls-in-one-on-one-battl/">Time and Eternity trailer features two souls in one-on-one battles</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 07:30:00 EST. In Japan-always-seems-to-have-the-coolest-3DS-skins news, the country's getting a new Metallic Red 3DS as well as - and we admit we're particularly jealous of this one - a very limited edition 3DS XL skin based on Eevee, the adorable critter from the Pok&eacute;mon series.<br />
<br />
The striped 3DS XL, which rather resembles 1960s wallpaper, was spotted by <a href="http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/7117840.html">Hachima</a> being advertized in one of Japan's official Pok&eacute;mon Center stores. Like last year's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/10/26/charizard-3ds-xl-lights-up-japanese-pokemon-centers/">Charizard 3DS XL</a>, the &yen;18,900 system ($185) is only available via reservations, which then go into a lottery to win the chance to buy the system. In other words, this is one of those times when the words 'limited edition' genuinely apply. The lottery is being held until June 3.<br />
<br />
More freely available is the Metallic Red 3DS below, which will be released for &yen;15,000 ($147) on June 13. Like the Light Blue and Gloss Pink models announced <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/3ds-light-blue-gloss-pink-models-announced-for-japan/">earlier this year,</a> it includes a 4GB SD card.<br />

Psychological horror <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/among-the-sleep"><em>Among the Sleep</em></a> achieved its $200,000 Kickstarter goal this morning. That means the happy, innocent-looking faces of Krillbite Studio can endeavor to provide us with nightmares when the game hit PC, Mac, Linux, and Oculus Rift in Q4 this year.<br />
<br />
While <em>Among the Sleep</em> was already close to its Kickstarter goal, we suspect some of Krillbite's cheer comes from the validation of doing so after releasing the playable alpha yesterday. That's still available for free on the game's <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/krillbite/among-the-sleep">Kickstarter</a> page, if you'd like to experience how the game leverages its scares from a two-year-old's perspective. You can also read <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/28/crawling-in-the-dark-in-among-the-sleep/">Richard's thoughts</a> on a demo which made him "love a teddy bear within the span of a half-hour."<br />
<br />
 <em>Among the Sleep</em> has already cleared its first stretch goal: $200,030 got bought ice creams for each member of the team - which might also explain those happy faces. With three days to go, Krillbite only has two other stretch goals currently listed, with $225K allowing the team to optimize Oculus Rift support, and $230K unlocking in-game commentary.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/15/among-the-sleep-clears-kickstarter-goal-with-three-days-to-go/">Among The Sleep clears Kickstarter goal with three days to go</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Wed, 15 May 2013 05:00:00 EST. The PS4 won't be delayed into 2014 in Europe, according to a <a href="http://www.computerandvideogames.com/405682/ps4-release-date-set-for-2013-in-europe-says-insider/">CVG</a> source. "An insider involved with PlayStation's business strategy" told the site Sony is expecting Microsoft to more aggressively target Europe. The insider claims Sony, mindful of the Xbox 360's early arrival ahead of the PS3, will release the PS4 on the continent this year to maintain the region's affinity for PlayStation.<br />
<br />
As CVG notes, <a href="http://www.edge-online.com/news/playstation-4-revealed/">Edge</a> sources previously claimed the PS4 would be delayed in Europe until "early 2014." Sony has precedent here; the PS3 reached Europe in March 2007, having arrived in North America and Japan in November 2006. Europe was originally lined up for November 2006 too, but Sony <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/06/european-launch-of-playstation-3-delayed-until-march-2007/">delayed</a> the PS3's arrival with two months to go.<br />
<br />
At the PS4 reveal in February, Sony said the console was coming in "Holiday 2013," but <a href="http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/interviews/a460945/ps4-interview-sony-uk-boss-talks-streaming-hardware-and-uk-launch.html">refused to commit</a> to which regions the window applied to. E3 would seem a good bet for Sony to get more specific about the PS4's arrival, especially depending on just how much Microsoft reveals <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">next week</a>.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/rumor-ps4-to-hit-europe-this-year/">Rumor: PS4 to hit Europe this year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 13:15:00 EST. This new gameplay trailer brings <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/pokemon-x-and-y-gets-four-new-characters-of-various-types/">the <em>Pokemon X</em> and <em>Y</em> info-dump</a> from the latest CoroCoro magazine to life, with the two playable characters, four recently unveiled monsters, and the star-shaped Kalos region taking the limelight. The metropolis shown off above is Lumiose City, the epicenter of the Kalos region.<br />
<br />
The four new Pokemon on show are Gogoat, Pancham, Fletchling, and Helioptile - <a href="http://www.pokemonxy.com/en-us/pokemon/">find out more on them here</a>. Also, as CoroCoro recently revealed, the two 3DS games support trainer hair and skin color customization - you know, in case the blonde with red gingham look just isn't doing it for you.<br />

<br />
 <em>Metro: Last Light</em> doesn't sound appetizing with its "suffocating despair" and "gnarled monstrosities," but it's that kind of loveliness that made Ludwig enthuse about the <em>Metro 2033</em> follow-up in his <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/metro-last-light-review/">four and a half stars review</a>. He deemed <em>Last Light</em> "an unusual, meticulously detailed shooter inextricable from its environment."<br />
<br />
Of course, Ludwig wasn't the only brave soul to delve into the underground sequel. Here are some other thoughts we dug up.
<ul>
	<li><a href="http://www.gamesradar.com/metro-last-light-review/">GamesRadar</a> <strong>(90/100)</strong>: "Subtlety is what makes <em>Last Light</em> such an exceptionally immersive game. It nails the core tenets of a shooter, then forces you to react to enemies in ways outside of simply taking cover. It plops you in a post-apocalyptic world, then fills it with tons of minor but substantial details, like the shadows of once-living people now permanently nuked into stone walls. It strips you of hope, only to dangle a tiny sliver of it ahead of you like a carrot on a stick."</li>
	<li><a href="http://www.gameinformer.com/games/metro_last_light/b/pc/archive/2013/05/13/metro-last-light-review.aspx">Game Informer</a> <strong>(88/100)</strong>: "This sequel plays more like a shooter than its predecessor, but doesn't sacrifice its intricate narrative or creative vision in the process. Masochistic fans will appreciate the harder difficulties that recreate the grueling experience of the original, but no matter how you approach it, exploring <em>Last Light</em>'s absorbing world is wholly entertaining."</li>
	<li><a href="http://www.giantbomb.com/reviews/metro-last-light-review/1900-577/">Giant Bomb</a> <strong>(80/100)</strong>: "By its very nature of being a sequel, <em>Last Light</em> doesn't feel as fresh as Metro 2033 did, but there's still nothing else like it. Few games generate immersion through gameplay and transport you to their world the way Metro does."</li>
	<li><a href="http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-05-13-metro-last-light-review">Eurogamer</a> <strong>(70/100)</strong>: "<em>Metro: Last Light</em> is not a bad game, but nor is it a good one in quite the same sense as its predecessor. <em>Metro 2033</em> was flawed but trying to do its own thing. If anything, <em>Last Light</em> feels like a regression. Similarities abound, but this is a more conservative FPS, one looking at the competition rather than itself, and one with some terrible missteps. So go in with low expectations, and you might be pleasantly surprised."</li>

Nintendo was encouraged by its <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/25/nintendo-downloadable-game-sales-more-than-double-this-year/">digital growth</a> over the last year, and a significant part of that is the indie scene on Wii U and 3DS. The big N visited Madrid's iDEAME conference last month to chat with some of the indie faces behind the indie games, and thankfully it recorded the footage. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/wii-u-3ds-indie-devs-talk-shop-at-ideame/">Wii U, 3DS indie devs talk shop at iDEAME</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 07:00:00 EST. There's something odd going on with <em>Wolfenstein 3D</em> on PSN and XBLM. First off, this week the ESRB re-rated the classic game on Xbox 360 and PS3, nearly four years after it arrived on the platforms digitally. Secondly, it's sprouted an <a href="http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Search?q=wolfenstein%203d#Games">additional page</a> on XBLM.<br />
<br />
Playing Spot the Difference between the two pages, the new one lists the publisher as Bethesda rather than Activision. Developer id Software was acquired by Bethesda's parent company Zenimax in June 2009, just a few weeks after <em>Wolfenstein 3D</em> came to XBLM and PSN. Also, the release date is now listed as May 31 of this year, which is a bit odd. The box art is slightly different too, and once more notes Bethesda's name instead of Activision's.<br />
<br />
Overall, the whole thing's as curious as Adolf Hitler in a mech suit. The timing's certainly interesting given the recent reveal of <em><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/wolfenstein-the-new-order-announced/">Wolfenstein: The New Order</a></em>. When approached on the matter, a company spokesperson told Joystiq, "No comment on that from Bethesda."<br />
<br />
<strong>Update</strong>: Bethesda VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines told Joystiq there's <a href="http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/p480x480/935784_10151424178252005_1158080246_n.jpg">nothing to see here</a>.<br />
<br />
"No changes. Was originally published through Activision, so now that it's reverted back to us we have to jump through ESRB (ratings go to the publisher, they don't "follow" the game to a new publisher) and console hoops (game has to be "re-certed" by the new publisher)," Hines said. <p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/wolfenstein-3d-re-rated-by-esrb-gets-new-page-on-xblm/">Wolfenstein 3D re-rated by ESRB, gets new page on XBLM [update: housekeeping]</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 06:00:00 EST. Atari's <em>Breakout</em> turned 37 last month, and that apparently (but not unsurprisingly) is enough of an excuse for yet another Google easter egg. If you <a href="https://www.google.com/search?q=atari+breakout&amp;source=lnms&amp;tbm=isch&amp;sa=X&amp;ei=uUmRUYTnFMetigL0g4HgCw&amp;ved=0CAoQ_AUoAQ&amp;biw=1244&amp;bih=957">type 'Atari Breakout' into Google Images' search</a>, instead of finding graphics of the classic game, the screen will transform into a playable Breakout clone made up from those images. Clever, no?<br />
<br />
So, if by the end of today you're wondering where all the Joystiq posts have gone, be sure to blame/thank Google.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/google-commemorates-ataris-breakout-in-interactive-fashion/">Google commemorates Atari's Breakout in interactive fashion</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 05:00:00 EST. <em>Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery</em> sets off for Vita and iOS this week. Lucid's cutesy-looking Unreal Engine 3 puzzler pitches up in North America via PSN on Tuesday, May 14 - it should be Wednesday in Europe. Then iOS welcomes it on Thursday. No prices are announced as yet.<br />
<br />
The game features Jacob, a kid who prefers traipsing the outdoors to milling around with his peers. Thankfully, his trip to Camp Eagle Feather includes bumping into Bigfoot, an event that always brightened our summer camp excursions.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, we're still waiting on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/06/ex-bizarre-devs-lucid-tease-possible-reveal-at-next-gen-xbox-eve/">Lucid's mid-May announcement</a>, which looks to be a racing game, and one possibly tied to <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/24/xbox-reveal-may-21/">Microsoft's own mid-May announcement</a>. The studio, comprised of ex-Bizarre devs, gave a brief <a href="https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=557626957593259&amp;id=191831577506134">shout-out</a> today to fans of Blur and Project Gotham Racing who'd sent the studio messages recently. Which group will be the more pleased later this month, if either, remains to be seen.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/lucids-jacob-jones-and-the-bigfoot-mystery-unravels-on-vita-io/">Lucid's Jacob Jones and the Bigfoot Mystery unravels on Vita, iOS this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 04:00:00 EST. A 3D-enhanced version of <em>Sonic the Hedgehog</em> spins its way onto Japan's 3DS eShop on May 15. As <a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/49932545629/3d-sonic-the-hedgehog-coming-to-eshop-segas-3ds">Tiny Cartridge</a> reports, the latest of Sega's 3D portable reworks has some interesting additions, including optional spin dashes, button remapping, and being able to choose either the Japanese or western version of the game.<br />
<br />
You'd think that last one would indicate an impending western arrival, but we're still waiting on the 3D-enhanced versions of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/11/21/space-harrier-3d-gliding-onto-eshop/"><em>Space Harrier</em></a> and <em><a href="http://tinycartridge.com/post/45777972965/3d-super-hang-on-the-second-3d-updated-sega">Super Hang-On</a></em>. We've reached out to Sega to find out what, if anything, is on the horizon.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/14/3d-sonic-the-hedgehog-rolls-onto-3ds-eshop-in-japan-this-week/">3D Sonic the Hedgehog rolls onto 3DS eShop in Japan this week</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Tue, 14 May 2013 02:00:00 EST. PS2 and GameCube RPG<em> Tales of Symphonia</em> and its Wii-exclusive sequel <em>Dawn of the New World</em> may come to the PS3 via an HD upgrade. Spanish site <a href="http://www.koi-nya.net/2013/05/12/hideo-baba-deja-caer-una-posible-remasterizacion-para-ps3-de-ambos-tales-of-symphonia-tales-of-symphonia-perfect-edition/">Koi-nya</a> gained info from internal sources on a PS3 HD bundle of the two games, which it reckons is called <em>Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition</em>. Koi-nya quizzed series producer Hideo Baba, who's already <a href="http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/03/21/tales-of-graces-f-coming-to-psn-326-tales-of-xillia-on-ps3-this-summer/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PSBlog+%28PlayStation.Blog%29">teased</a> 2013 as being a bountiful year of Tales news, the cheeky scamp that he is.<br />
<br />
While Baba said he couldn't confirm <em>Perfect Edition</em>, he did say such a game would be "a representation of the dreams and hopes of the fans, who have long been wanting it."<br />
<br />
One Koi-nya source also says <em>Tales of Xillia 2</em> is coming to the west, but given we're still waiting on the first Xillia to arrive - <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/11/tales-of-xillia-trailer-touts-aug-9-eu-launch-date-special-edi/">it's due in August</a> - don't expect a localization soon.<br />
<br />
We've reached out to publisher Namco Bandai for comment.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/rumor-tales-of-symphonia-dawn-of-new-world-to-get-ps3-hd-remak/">Rumor: Tales of Symphonia, Dawn of New World to get PS3 HD remakes</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 14:45:00 EST. <em>Ace Attorney 5</em> is scheduled to appear in North America and Europe this autumn, now under the new legal name of <em>Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies</em>. Capcom says it's releasing the 3DS game in the west digitally (on the eShop).<br />

A DLC-stuffed version of <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/game/final-fantasy-xiii-2"><em>Final Fantasy XIII-2</em></a> is headed for Japanese retail shelves on July 18. Square Enix released a ton of additional content for the JRPG sequel, and the 'Digital Contents Collection,' going for around $50, offers most of it.<br />
<br />
The bundle features the <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/15/lightnings-story-finally-hits-final-fantasy-xiii-2/">Snow</a>, <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/15/lightnings-story-finally-hits-final-fantasy-xiii-2/">Lightning</a>, and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/16/new-dlc-brings-afros-and-bikinis-to-final-fantasy-xiii-2/">Sazh</a> episodes, as well as three weapons, seven costumes, and six Coliseum opponents. <a href="http://gematsu.com/2013/05/final-fantasy-xiii-2-dlc-collection-announced-for-japan">Gematsu</a> has the full list. Also, the DLC from the Collection is coming in its own bundle to PSN and XBLM.<br />
<br />
Square Enix is also re-releasing the game in the country under the 'Ultimate Hits' label. That version arrives in stores on the same day, but also on PSN and XBLM two days prior.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/final-fantasy-xiii-2-dlc-collection-announced-for-japan-coming/">Final Fantasy XIII-2 DLC Collection announced for Japan, coming in July</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 11:15:00 EST. Everyone can freak out at <em>Among the Sleep</em> as of tomorrow, when developer Krillbite releases an alpha build of the indie horror game for free. Krillbite told <a href="http://www.polygon.com/2013/5/12/4324562/among-the-sleep-free-public-alpha-coming-may-14">Polygon</a> it's delivering the free version via its <a href="http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/krillbite/among-the-sleep/posts">Kickstarter page</a>, freely available for all.<br />
<br />
 <em>Among the Sleep</em> places you in the eyes of a two-year-old, and significantly at the eye level of a two-year-old, experiencing the daunting scale of the world around you. If it's funded on Kickstarter - with five days to go it's at around $180,000 of its $200,000 goal - it'll chill the spines of PC, Mac, Linux, and Oculus Rift (<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/07/among-the-sleep-adds-support-for-occulus-rift-playable-alpha-co/">see for yourself</a>) in Q4 this year,<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/among-the-sleep-free-public-alpha-coming-tomorrow/">Among the Sleep free public alpha coming tomorrow</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 09:30:00 EST. <em>Dead Island Riptide</em> is the second game this year to keep the competition at bay for three weeks in a row. Despite a 55 percent drop in sales, the semi-sequel repeats the run of <em>BioShock Infinite</em> earlier in the year. That's no surprise given the new releases shelves are just tumbleweeds rolling past each other.<br />
<br />
The charts do include two (sort of) new releases, and both did well. Coming in at ninth is the physical box set of <em>The Walking Dead</em>, which released in North America late last year. Another latecomer to Europe is <em>Persona 4 Arena</em>, and distributor Zen United must be pleased with the fighter punching in at 11th.<br />
<br />
As we said last week, you know it's quiet season when Call of Duty's re-gunning for the top; <em>Black Ops 2</em> is now up to second place, a full six months after being released. Oh, and on the day <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/square-enix-posts-134m-fiscal-net-loss-projects-profit-for-com/">Square Enix releases its financial results</a> for the fiscal year, <em>Tomb Raider</em> makes it 10/10 - that's ten weeks in the UK top ten. Just. Saying.<p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/dead-island-riptide-tops-the-uk-charts-for-third-week-running/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Dead Island Riptide tops the UK charts for third week running</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/dead-island-riptide-tops-the-uk-charts-for-third-week-running/">Dead Island Riptide tops the UK charts for third week running</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 09:00:00 EST. As approximately projected, Square Enix posted a net loss of &yen;13.7 billion for the fiscal year ending March 31 2013, that converting to around $134 million. Back in March, Square Enix announced it was implementing major restructuring that would produce an <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-president-wada-to-step-down-106m-restructuring-l/">"extraordinary loss"</a>. Today the company further detailed its new strategy for the next fiscal year, in which it projects a return to profit.<br />
<br />
"The business environment surrounding the [Square Enix] Group is in the midst of major changes, where smart devices such as smartphones and tablet PCs are spreading rapidly," Square Enix stated in today's results, "while the console game markets in North America and Europe are increasingly competitive and oligopolistic. In light of such environmental changes, the Group is focusing all efforts on a substantial earnings improvement through driving reforms of business structure in order to establish new revenue base."<br />
<br />
Square Enix previously noted<a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/03/26/square-enix-weak-sales-tomb-raider-hitman-absolution/"> "weak" sales of "big console titles"</a> in North America and Europe, including <em>Sleeping Dogs</em>, <em>Hitman: Absolution</em>, and even <em>Tomb Raider</em>. Today the company said it will increasingly target smartphones and tablets, citing <em>Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade</em> and <em>Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur </em>as satisfactorily profitable. Square Enix also noted <em>Dragon Quest X </em>as "showing steady performance."<br />
<br />
As such, the restructuring brings overhauls to Square Enix's larger-scale development,with the company looking to improve turnover and produce content better tailored for different regions. Square Enix was clearly dissatisfied with the performance of its western portfolio, and layoffs were incurred in the company's <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/02/layoffs-square-enix-los-angeles/">North American</a> and <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/04/29/square-enix-lays-off-staff-in-europe/">European</a> divisions.<br />
<br />
Square Enix believes these changes will be the platform for profit in the coming fiscal year, projecting net income of between &yen;3.5 billion and &yen;6 billion, or $34.4 million to $59 million.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/square-enix-posts-134m-fiscal-net-loss-projects-profit-for-com/">Square Enix posts $134M fiscal net loss, projects profit for coming year</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 07:00:00 EST. <em>Final Fantasy X-2 HD</em> could feature content never previously released outside of Japan, although Square Enix is reportedly "undecided" about including it. According to Famitsu (via <a href="http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20130510-00000006-famitsu-game">Yahoo Japan</a>), the publisher is considering the "Last Mission" content from the Japan-only 'International Version.' It features an extra mission set after the original's ending.<br />
<br />
Extra content would definitely make the HD remaster more enticing for western fans - although some might argue <em>X-2</em>'s perfect ending (<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbugG6m0b-A">spoilers</a>) tinkered with the storyline quite enough thank you. In any case (we're not bitter honestly) the remasters of <i>X</i> and <i>X-2</i> come west (really we're not) later this year, arriving together on PS3 but separately on Vita. <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/">Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/#5869533"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/10679ffx2hd01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/#5869534"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/10680ffx2hd02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/#5869535"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/10681ffx2hd03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/#5869536"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/10682ffx2hd04_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/photos/final-fantasy-x-x-2-hd-remaster/#5869537"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2013/05/10683ffx2hd05_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/report-final-fantasy-x-2-hd-could-include-last-mission/">Report: Final Fantasy X-2 HD could include 'Last Mission'</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 06:00:00 EST. <a href="http://www.joystiq.com/tag/harvest-moon-a-new-beginning"><em>Harvest Moon: A New Beginning</em></a> may enter its European phase soon. The 3DS sim, which arrived in North America last October, cropped up on the Australian Classification Board and German ratings board USK over the weekend.<br />
<br />
Both ratings list Zen United as the publisher - Zen distributed <em>Persona 4 Arena</em> in Europe recently, and has a history of bringing BlazBlue and Arcana Hearts games to the region. We've reached out to Zen in the hopes of cultivating some comment.<p style="padding:5px;background:#ffffcc;border:1px solid #ffff99;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.joystiq.com"><img src="http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.joystiq.com/media/feedlogo.gif" alt="Joystiq" style="float:left;padding:0 5px 5px 0;" /></a><a href="http://www.joystiq.com/2013/05/13/harvest-moon-a-new-beginning-ratings-point-to-pal-produce/">Harvest Moon: A New Beginning ratings point to PAL produce</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.joystiq.com">Joystiq</a> on Mon, 13 May 2013 05:00:00 EST.
