Liam over on PSP-Vault has filled us in on his prediction about
the upcoming Metal Gear title for the PSP that we announced yesterday. It turns out that Kojima lists the game
as "Metal Gear Solid BD" on his personal blog, and in an interview with Famitsu
magazine, he revealed a partnership with Frank Miller that will produce a "digital comic" version of Metal Gear
Solid for the PSP. In addition, Sony has registered "PSPMagazines," "PSPBooks," and "PSPComics" as trademarks in
Japan, and this past weekend, the PSP Contents Viewer was announced at the G-Star convention in Korea (see "Read"
link).
Liam believes that the new Metal Gear Solid title will make use of the PSP Contents Viewer, and indeed, will be a digital comic, not a game. The PSP Contents Viewer will likely be introduced in a future firmware upgrade. Sorta a letdown, no?
[UPDATE: In French, comics are called Bandes Dessinés, often shortened to "BDs." Anyone know if Kojima has a French fetish? Thanks phil fish!]

Now a full fledged MGS game on PSP? Would have been damn swell--guess I'll just wait for Ubisoft to work on Splinter Cell for PSP instead...

-Play watered down versions of games I've already played, sometimes costing more than the console counterparts
-Play movies that don't have the special features of DVDs and cost almost as much
-Pay what will probably be an extremely high price to READ a comic book that I could probably purchase for less than five dollars at a comic book store.
I hate to say it, but PSP sucks. That's why mine is on eBay right now. I'm going to get me a DS. I'm sorry I ever convinced my Mom to get me a PSP for graduation. I totally bought into the PSP sexy hype machine and now I am bathing in its mediocrity.
I know people like the God of War guy will make some great games for it, but there's good stuff on DS now.
If I want to read comics on a handheld I'll get a cheap PDA that can download them from the internet for free thank you.

PDA that costs significantly less than 200€ and is good enough to read comics? Holy crap.

Then again, some people would say the same about Nintendogs and "Brain Training" and other alternative titles for the DS...

PSP sucks? Whatever. Take your opinion and go sell your PSP.

I got GTA for the PSP and had never played it before, especially when I was called a "bitch" for my bad driving. That was funny and worth it just for that. I even got Madden and other than the slow load times, it's pretty good.
So yes, the PSP has been languishing for a while but now it's starting to get good.

and for the price of a PSP and a 1gb memory stick you can get an Ipod video AND a DS (which I did).
-Games?
PS2 rehashes, nothing uniwue (unlike the ds, go and compare the top scores of the PSP and DS games on gamespot.com, for the DS there are 20 games that have a score of 7 and above, PSP? 5 games)
-Internet?
Doesnt work from where I am, why would I browse with something I cant see past my forum avatar?
-Movies?
My video Ipod's with every Babylon 5 episode (ripped) and Lost from Itunes, which I can watch on my computer and my TV. Doesnt help Sony's memory sticks price equals an Ipod here.
-MP3 player?
I still have 15gb left in my Ipod, even though in it there's every classic rock album and the aforementioned tv episodes.
Sony had the sexiest thing alive, yet they ruined it by:
-No hd, even the nano has 2-4gb!
-No stylus (DS wins hands down with RTS and FPS coming out, and web browser)
-No games!! Dammit, I lined up 3 hours to get one, then seeing the games it had I left empty handed.
Someone should wkae Sony up and get them to save the PSP already.
