The Fear

The Fear is thusly named not only for his effect on enemy troops and easily disturbed children, but for every soldier's fear of being transformed into a heartless monster on the battlefield. With menacing eyes, an elongated tongue and unusual, staccato movements, The Fear is a monster in the very literal sense. The area in which Snake battles him is also laced with traps and hazards, a deadly arena for a fly battling a spider.

Special abilities: Inhuman agility and invisibility. The Fear also packs a crossbow and poison-tipped arrows.

Weaknesses: Being a snarling, warm-blooded creature, The Fear can be spotted quite easily, even when invisible, through the thermal goggles. All that leaping about and swinging in the trees also makes him hungry, enabling you to scatter some poisonous frogs and mushrooms in his foraging path.

Trivia: The best time to attack The Fear is right after he's eaten a poisoned snack. It doesn't seem right to shoot a man while he's letting off a technicolor yawn, but hey, this is war.
