Apr 6th 2007 7:40PM (Joystiq)First off, I have a launch console (Dec. 10, 2005). In November of 2006, I got my first Red Ring of Death. I called tech. support (and luckily they had just instituted that new policy that launch owners got a 1 year warranty) and got it replaced for free and very quickly.
Now, (four months later), I come home and notice my XBOX on with a second Red Ring of Death.
Man, I am so pissed; for something that costs $400 to only last 1 year is crap. This thing should have a lifespan of close to 4+ years!
Well, wish me luck, hopefully Microsoft will see fit to replace it before it graduates to being covered under the lemon law (3 strikes).

Mar 2nd 2006 1:08AM (Engadget HD)Here then on, it's basically the same as a cable internal installation. setup the router (which they provided!!! D-Link Super-G), etc. They were really nice and helpful. Offered to setup the router, install the branded software, and even went to www.speakeasy.net/speedtest to show you that you are truely getting the bandwidth that they advertise!!! They even showed me a tool called TCPOptimizer (which I was familiar with), that went through Windows and modified a number of things related to the TCP/IP settings to get the most out of the additional bandwidth.
I was getting 6mbps download and 768kbps upload with Adelphia for $54+tax/per month. Now I get 15mbps download and 1.7 mbps download for $50. nice!!! :)
Hope it comes to your neighborhood soon!!!
