Like #7 says, Takara is the company originally owning the rights to the original Transformers, before Hasbro bought the rights to distribute in the U.S. This alliance was made in 1983. Originally, Takara distributed the toys as Microman and Daikron toys. Hasbro whipped up all the 'autobot' and 'decepticon' lingo.

So the "guaranteed to work" policy just means "we didn't test it, so if it doesn't work, we will just keep giving you the same thing until it does".
