If by "automatic" you mean PowerShift (dual-clutch) with an auto mode, then I don't see why it's shocking to think that a computer could rev-shift optimally better than a real human driving a manual. Humans will probably let it rev much higher in each gear, and you can't shift up and down as smoothly because there is only a single clutch.

Uh, isn't that just an application though? Replacing the text input method in ALL locations (ie hooking into it at the OS level) would be more interesting.

Now if they can make it use the internet to predict, like Google can do in its search-box, that would be pretty awesome. That way foreign language words, technological terms, slang, etc would be able to be predicted without having a stored dictionary file on the handset.
