Ubisoft character could be drafted for Smash Bros. Brawl

Jun 25th 2006 2:15AM (Joystiq)
Personally, I don't think there should be more than 3 3rd party characters. The ones that are going to join should at least be kind of fictional like a Nintendo character. Although Snake has been in NES games, he is a bit too human for my taste. How is he going to have a 3rd jump? Which weapons will he use? The characters that were in Melee had some fiction to them, even if they were human. Take Mario for example, he's human but he has an incredible jumping ability and he is pyrokinetic (ability to create fire by PSI). I ca't see Snake being comical or fictional enough to be in a Super Smash Bros. game.

Controller showdown: PlayStation 3 vs Wii

May 14th 2006 1:49AM (Engadget)
I wonder if Sony actually thinks they're fooling someone. Do they even want people to buy their PS3? Back in E3 2005 Ken Kutaragi said," The Playstation 3(Praystation 3, in the way he said it) is not targeted towards households", then who the hell are they targeting? Not only that, but they are really making themselves look bad. When Nintendo unveiled the Wiimote has motion sensing capabilities, Sony made fun of them. When Microsoft announced the 360 would have 2 SKU's, Sony made fun of them. When Nintendo said people prefer gameplay and innovation over graphics and power, Sony made fun of them. Well look at Sony now. They copied motion sensing capabilities from the Wiimote, they put 2 SKU's on the Playstation 3, and they are now acting like they're innovative and trying to improve gameply with their gimmicky controller that can only be used for driving games and flight simulators. Sony, you aren't fooling anyone. So stop pretending like you are, and either come up with original high quality games that won't break, or get out of the gaming industry, because you don't belong.

PS3 to outsell Revolution by 33%-60% in 2006 (USA)

Mar 21st 2006 9:12PM (Joystiq)
There is no way the PS3 will beat the Nintendo Revolution. One reason is that the PS3 gameplay isn't that different than the PS2, Just better graphics and a weird controller that looks uncomfortable. The Nintendo Revolution will literally revolutionize gaming. I bet when the Xbox 3and PS4 come out they're gonna copy the Nintendo Revolution's idea for the controller. Also the companies. You can trust Nintendo, They have been around for 20 years and I have never heard of any one of their consoles or games being defective. As for Sony, 3 million out of their first 9 million sold PS2s were defective, And I hear a lot of complaints about the PSP being the most defective game console ever, I wouldn't trust Sony with an expensive console that doesn't have any difference in gameplay. And another reason is developement, The PS3 will be hard to develope for (as told by one of Sony's employees that got fired for revealing this)and when you do the math the 32 Mbz(Mbz means megabits, MBz means megabytes) that it will be using will mean the loading times could be up to a minute, Thats pretty long for the so called "next-gen" console. The last reason is the price. I don't know how much the Nintendo Revolution costs to manufacture, But the PS3 costs about $900.00 to make one unit. Do you actually believe that Sony will be selling the PS3 for $500.00? to keep the profit for each unit like the PS2 they would have to sell it for $745.00-$825.00. I think it will cost about $600.00-$700.00. But its not just the console, Its also the games. Don't expect games for the PS3 below $60.00. Also Sony is using this new tech to the PS3 that makes it so you can't play used games on the PS3. When I say it can play used games it means no renting, No borrowing, No selling used PS3 games, And no refunds. Sony has always been full of moneywhores and could care less about the costumer. Nintendo however, actually cares about its costumers and will sell the Nintendo Revolution at an affortable price. They said it would be below $300.00. I think will cost somewhere around $200.00. Thats a pretty good deal for a console thats actually trying something new instead of just beefing up graphics. In my opinion, The PS3 will be a definite rip-off. Thats why the Nintendo Revolution will beat the PS3.

Sony HUB = PlayStation Network Platform, offers some free gaming

Sony always promises but either disappoints or never delivers. I think its best not to trust them. Especially since the older perverts will be harrassing you.

Nintendo DS Lite live shots!

Mar 2nd 2006 10:17PM (Engadget)
You guys really think the PSP can beat the DS Lite? Today was the DS Lite launch in Japan and they already sold out the first day. The line for the DS Lite launch was longer than the line for the Xbox 360 launch. And don't go on bitching about the PSP being able to play movies, Go online and music. Because Nintendo announced that they are making cartidges that can do that, And more. The online cartidge will let you do more when you go online than the PSP, And it won't take as long to browse because you can use the touch screen to write down the website and it will go there. And they also have a cartidge that will let you watch broadcast television. Let me remind you that there are movies all the time on broadcast television, And you can actually change the channel like you were watching a normal TV.

PS3 is a no-show at Sony's PlayStation Event

Mar 2nd 2006 2:29PM (Joystiq)
What I don't get, Is why Sony is always trying to make such a big deal out of power and graphics. You don't need multiple cell processors to play a game. The more power it has, The more easily it will overheat and cause problems. And graphics can only go so far. What will Sony do when graphics look so good that they can't improve on them? Then what are they supposed to do? Haven't you noticed that all Playstation consoles have nothing special about them, And that they always talk about graphics and power. So far Nintendo is the only company actually giving us "TRUE" next-gen capabilities. We have had stunning graphics and power with computers for a while now, So why does Sony call their PS3 next-gen? In my opinion, I think the Nintendo Revolution will win the console wars not only because they aren't gonna charge $500.00 for a game console, But because they are trying something that will revolutionize gaming. Besides, When Sony and Microsoft see how successful the Nintendo Revolution is with their controller, They are gonna copy Nintendo's idea because they weren't smart enough to try something new.
