Leica trots out D-LUX 4, C-LUX 3 and M8.2 digital cameras

Sep 13th 2008 8:26AM (Engadget)
I had the chance to try an M, and even with my big hands I feel those cameras are far more comfortable than actual DSLR. Lenses are lightweighed compared to to classical reflex ones, so camera stands balanced in hand. Anyway, there are lot of Leica and third-parties made hand grips, for those who like (well, it might be useful with longer lenses)

Panasonic debuts "hybrid lighting" Pa-Look compact fluorescent bulbs

Jun 12th 2008 5:49PM (Engadget)
World first? I've bought one yesterday from Beghelli for my bathroom (price: €9 for the 23w version), and had another one bought more than an year ago... it has a fluorescent tube and an halogen "start up" lamp that dims as the tube warms.

Vodafone Station brings FMC service to Italy

Jun 2nd 2008 11:17AM (Engadget)
nothing like this. It is just a commond ADSL router with a common USB UMTS simcard based key. You can use both under the same contract, in you home or outside, but the pricing is different if you intetnet is routed trough adsl or umts. Also, you can keep the key connected to the router, and use 3g networking for your home internet if adsl is down or not still connected (in Italy getting a fuking cable connected can be painfully slow).
No free calls and no way you can connect a 3g phone to this thing, anyway.

Same problem with italian language... no wonder, blue (blu in italian) have the same sound! By the way, there are about 30% chance it recognize a male voice, while any girl I saw yelling "Blue! Bluuue! Bbbbblù!" was never been able to use it.

"30 Days with Mac OS X"

Jun 6th 2007 5:28PM (TUAW.com)
Bryan is right, Mac is not right for him!
The whole article looks more like a "3 days with mac" than a whole month... And he deliberatly choosed complicated ways to do simple things. He is right about the hardware part, but the software... why installing osx? Why all this x11 galore when there are neooffice and gimp.app? Do they lack in functionality? It doesn't seems to me they are so different from Win versions!
He also missed lot of useful freeware, I never had problems converting video files! And, if he likes linux and apt-get so much (like I do! I will marry apt-get before you, moron) why not simply get ffmpeg or mencoder?
Ok, maybe i'm going to far, but it seems to me like he was pretending a too-complete-solution-out-of-the-box

Currently unused component found in Wiimote

That chip IS used. It is the digital-to-analog converter, for playing sound on the built-in speaker. That's why it's right near the amplifier!
