Hands-on: Nintendo DSi XL

Feb 24th 2010 11:30AM (Joystiq)
This is for me !

This is clearly aimed at the adult users of the DS & DSi. The original phat was a pretty comfortable fit in my hands.

I started getting arthritis in my hands in my EARLY 20s (23-24) generally my consoles only get use with the big comfortable controllers(joysticks), and i find myself PC gaming more often simply for issues of comfort now (im 32)

The DS lite(which i currently use daily on my train commute) Hurts my hands to use for long periods, it FORCES casual gaming just due to comfort factor for me. I have issues with playing Gamepad dependent games, and anything using the shoulder buttons But it works fine in "book" orientation, and stylus driven games.
Ive started Bringing my GP32, Lynx or TurboExpress instead recently they are just more comfortable to play.

I'll be watching for a gamestop trade-in deal when they arrive, Plus the dark color is nice compared to my first run White "lite", I could just never justify replacing it for a simple color change, and the DSi was smaller. But for a bigger brighter, More comfortable DS, Sign me up.

TUAW Review: Checkout, top notch Point of Sale software for Mac

Nov 24th 2009 12:55AM (TUAW.com)
Wow! Josh -
Every article of yours I read I like !

Q: - How well does it synchronize between multiple locations? On-the-go and using it on a laptop-talking to a server- for example.

Q: - does it have reasonable time billing and accounting : such as repair charges vs labor - plus plain POS on the parts associated on a repair-
(or is it a work around using employees as "suppliers" of an allotted Line item for labor like some other systems)

10 things I learned from a destitute alt on an RP realm

Jan 18th 2009 3:22PM (WoW)
I think there is one BIG thing thats everyone here is missing that ive found to be a necessity.

Lvl your Bank/auction alt to 25, and TAKE ENCHANTING -
Most people say "What?! enchanting costs?!"- Not so

You want the DIS-enchanting ability here, at lvl 25 you can enchant to 225, and disenchant items up to lvl65 or so -

You auction the greens- the greens that dont sell after 3 times you DE immediately- Now you have a steady supply of Enchant mats to sell or use (a VERY lucrative option), even beginner level "Strange dust" sells for 6-7g a stack on my server, and dont get me started on the 50+g dusts and shards that you stumble across DE'ing Random "useless" greens and blues

Addon Spotlight: New, old, and outdated!

Whats with all the Dev trolls for auctioneer?

The new auctioneer is horrible. Period.

Auctioneer classic was loved BECAUSE it was so simple, its the 5349858457623948756 options that WE DONT like.

Branch it. - Move the advertisment features, the autobuy Etc into another Add,

Give us back the simple what its worth, sell all stacks features into a "new" classic - Minus all the BS. - i dont care if it needs to scan every time i visit the auction house.. its the clusterBeepd settings that are killing it.

if there was a checkbox on the first page of options that said "Make it look like and work like classic" - it would solve this .. as it is i spent nearly an hour screwing with the settings (FAR FAR FAR from intuitive & with really POOR explanations of what each setting does) and still have "settled" for where i have it.

the Classic Auctioneeer was Simple, intuitive , and easy to use , the new one is None of these.

- Berating your Users for telling you they DONT like what your doing IS Poor PR , i dont care who you are or what you're working on.

-As for Buggy - ITS EXTREMELY buggy , even on Vanilla WoW (ONLY auctioneer installed), i get a tool tip error EVERY time i sign in and mouse over ANY item(every login), it errors on quite a few reagents regularly and chokes on pets/mounts items - sinister squashling comes to mind.

Breakfast Topic: Gankster Poll

Apr 8th 2008 3:58PM (WoW)
A few weeks ago (im only lvl'ing my second toon) a 15 'Lock, i got ganked 6 times while on the longshore in Westfall,(by a lvl61 warrior- Thumbs up winnar) culminating in some affliction that left my Own Voidwalker dealing 60+ damage to my entire party for something like 5 minutes.

Every time i summoned him the whole group would start chewing me out. Took forever for me to figgure out i need to just take him out far far away , make him stay , and wait a good distance from him.

On a side note , i see the Druid brotherhood feeling on my Druid, ive never had a foul encounter with another druid unless it was in warsong.

How would you change Apple's MacBook Air?

Feb 10th 2008 12:03AM (Engadget)
i'd Give it:

FireWire ports, FW800 preferred (4 Pin at the very least)
3d Accelerator, The Nvidia Go or an ATI 24-2600 Equivalent

i'd lust after it even with a 1" smaller display ,and 1/8" thicker case

For now , its an expensive macbook, yes a pretty one, but its no Pro.

Who cares about the Optical, But give me an external one that will work on other machines not something "special" for one machine, that makes it 3x as expensive 3 years from now when i need a replacement(like the Air's).

i think the price-point is right on, its the feature-set thats wanting.

Looks like I'm still waiting for a 12" Macbook Pro.
