Rock Band dev Harmonix breaks from Viacom, goes independent again

@Gemini Ace We already got their best and worst albums in addition to some other DLC...I'd call it a wash.

@AntDC Apple doesn't dictate the prices; developers do.

In a perfect world, it'll help developers for OS X get more exposure (something that's severely lacking) and streamline updates for third-party software. So that's really cool. But we don't live in a perfect world, so it'll be interesting to see how it works out.

@Faenix It's brilliant. It's one of my favorite games in the last few years. Go play it.

@Roto13 Agreed. I mean, A for effort, but there's no depth to the choices. And the parallels between this game and Every Day the Same Dream are too blatant to ignore.

PlayStation Phone reportedly caught on (very clear) video

@LENSconcept As someone who owns a PSP, DS, Xbox 360, PC, PS3, Wii, and an iPhone, and as someone who has been a hardcore gamer his entire life, I saw more interesting, clever, innovative games on iPhone than any other platform this year. Yeah, I love my iPhone, as do a lot of people -- but not all of us are Apple zombies.

In any case, the PlayStation Phone has a pretty great design and it looks pretty snappy, interface-wise. Android really needs a gold standard for gaming to ensure that some sort of hardware parity is established across devices if it's ever going to be a strong competitor to iOS in terms of games. This very well could be it.

@GordoJones88 Or you could support good game developers and buy it at its regular price. :)

Killzone 3 Helghast Edition headed to Europe

@Ludwig Kietzmann

Oh, haha. I didn't think you'd see my comment. You're very welcome though!

Now, um, let's try to keep this from getting too awkward.

Killzone 3 Helghast Edition headed to Europe

Dec 1st 2010 3:38AM (Joystiq)
There's your average Joystiq writer, and then there's Ludwig Kietzmann. It takes a special kind of writer to be able to take a dull, rote press release about a ridiculous, limited edition release of a AAA game and turn it into a strange, clever, alliterative vignette.
