Metareview -- Left 4 Dead (360)

Nov 18th 2008 1:16PM (Joystiq)
True, as Monkeys Suck (great name) said, I am primarily referring to the 360 version.
@ Pimliconite...sorry, 4 episodes, 20 levels. Still, a level editor would be cool because it would offer almost limitless replayability. I mean, I know what's going on with Sony deleting levels in LittleBigPlanet, but have you seen some of the stuff people are making on that?
Amazing.
Now, I wouldn't expect quite that level of innovation to spring up in Left 4 Dead, but there are a lot of talented people in the mod community...some looking for their lucky break into the industry.
I'd buy this game in a heartbeat if they were given the tools to create stuff.

Also, I don't see why it's not possible on 360...most people who have one, have a HDD. I think developers should try to bring that level of creativity to consoles.
We're at a point where consoles are just streamlined PC's.
It would blur the lines between the two even further.
Just my opinion.

Metareview -- Left 4 Dead (360)

This is EXACTLY the kind of game that should have shipped (on consoles AND PC) with some kind of level-creator mod tools.
With only 4 levels, this game won't be around too long on the charts.
But if we were to get user-created content...it would last for YEARS.
A missed opportunity really...

LittleBigPlanet delayed worldwide, Qur'an misuse cited as cause [update]

Oct 17th 2008 1:55PM (Joystiq)
Ok, enough of the America and Europe bashing...this is ridiculous.
First, Americans do not think Europe is one country, but you do have a unified currency.
Second, who the hell cares WHO started slavery...it isn't around in civilized countries anymore, and is irrelevant to the post.
Third, I agree that Europeans have lost some of their culture and identity by allowing such a massive influx of Muslim immigrants...England and Spain in particular are FUCKED.
Fourth, if the rest of the world doesn't wake the fuck up and see that Islam is calling the shots on what should and should not be censored through TERRORISM in the name of religion, we will all be fucked!
They don't want to watch South Park...FINE!
They want to burn American flags in their streets (I'm offended by THAT), FINE!
We want to make cartoons parodying Chritianity, Judaism, and ISLAM...OK BY ME!
Screw them terrorist bastards! I'm sick of the appesement of Muslims.
I'm normally an accepting person of all races/religions, but the fact that THEY do not reciprocate means all bets are off.
Remember...it is MUSLIMS who are hateful and predjudiced, and if Westerners now feel that way, guess what? They have THEMSELVES to blame!

Joystiq interview: Bungie's Jarrard talks Halo 3: Recon, new weapons, details

Oct 15th 2008 9:38AM (Joystiq)
Bungie literally set the bar when they created the Saved Films/Screenshot feature. I was really hoping other developers would copy this, especially in games like GTA IV or Saints Row 2.
Unfortunately, that's where it all ends.
Bungie is NOT at the cutting-edge with graphics, and in this generation of games, MOST if not ALL FPS games should offer some kind of map tool like Far Cry 2.
Forge just doesn't cut it anymore.
Hell, Timesplitters offered it way back when, and even included a single-player level creator.
In this "next" generation of gaming, something besides UE3 graphics is required.
LittleBigPlanet is proof of that!
Microsoft needs to take note of that game.

I haven't had any problems yet, and I've played over 40 games.

Rumor: 360's GTA IV DLC to hit in Jan/Feb '09

Aug 28th 2008 8:00PM (Joystiq)
I'm happy if the DLC comes out in Jan/Feb. There's too much good stuff coming out before Christmas, and I can't afford it all!

Joystiq hands-on: Quantum of Solace

Thank God it's in COLOR. I'm sick and tired of these brown and gray games.
I don't care if ultra-colorful games are not as "realistic" or "gritty" looking...they are eye-candy after all this desaturated crap.

Get excited, Castle Crashers releases to the XBLA!

Aug 27th 2008 9:31AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think the game is great. The art-style is friggin' amazing. I bought 4 XBLA titles this month, and this is the best yet.
Bionic Commando is a bit disappointing in that the arm just doesn't do what you tell it to do. Being that you can't jump, that's a HUGE problem.
Castle Crashers is old-school fun, with co-op and excellent HD graphics.
For $15, this is a phenomenal deal.

Bungie: No new Forge features for Halo 3

Aug 26th 2008 8:54AM (Joystiq)
Far Cry 2 is proving that developers CAN provide gamers with good map-making tools.
I'm all for user-created content.
The problem is, I want to see this expand beyond multi-player.
I think the TimeSplitters series is the only console game to actually touch on user-created single-player levels.
This should be a common feature on current-gen consoles.
We have the horsepower, we have the HDD's...now we just need the tools.

No Final Fantasy for Xbox 360 in the works [update]

Jun 6th 2007 6:58AM (Joystiq)
Screw Square-Enix and all the other Japanese developers that choose (for no reason I can figure out) not to support Xbox 360.
This is complete bias, and they deserve NOT to get our millions of hard earned scratch.
These turn-based RPG's are antiquated anyway. Give me Action-RPG's like Oblivion or Fable anyday over this crap.
