Oct 23rd 2007 7:49PM (Joystiq Xbox)PERIOD.
Guitar Hero III looks like it's the only one of the two that meets my requirements.
67% of Wii owners haven't touched the console recently
Oct 16th 2007 7:13PM (Joystiq Nintendo)There just aren't any really GREAT games out for the Wii right now, and the lack of decent online support outside of Strikers really hurts the replayability of Wii games.
Give me a Wii Sports 2 with online play, or maybe an FPS based on the MP3 controls and I'll be excited to play the Wii again, but right now I'd much rather pop a game in my 360 and jump on XBL for some head-to-head play against other people.

"Halo 3, please. Oh, and a Wii."
Sep 29th 2007 12:53PM (Joystiq Nintendo)I've played SSX and Excite Truck and found both to be pretty ho-hum. Then again, I don't really like sports games and I don't like any racing games that aren't part of the Mario Kart series. Mario Kart DS is the best racer I've ever played, and it's going to be very difficult for any other racing game outside the Kart series to live up to that kind of quality.
I also own and enjoyed Red Steel, though it definitely has really broken controls and could have been a lot better. I know the game is flawed, but people don't give it enough credit for graphics and atmosphere. It's actually quite pretty at times.
I also have Marvel:UA, which has the flimziest, most tacked-on motion controls I've ever seen. But I didn't expect that one to be good, and I only got it as a gift.
I do enjoy Strikers Charged though! It's a fun little game and even though the online can be frustrating and have some lag, it's nice to be able to play against other people. I just wish there was more of an ability to communicate with whoever you were playing against.
What I like about games like Halo is that they have both online deathmatches and solid stories. When I have extra time I can play through the campaign, but when I only have 15 minutes I can just jump into multiplayer and shoot up a mess of 12 year olds. And unfortunately there aren't any Wii games that let me do that yet. Strikers is a good start, but let's be honest - the single player game doesn't really leave you hanging at the edge of your seat.
Once Mario Kart Wii and Smash Bros Brawl come out I think the Wii is really going to turn around and be considered a "serious" console by gamers, but right now it's still being beaten by the 360.
"Halo 3, please. Oh, and a Wii."
Sep 29th 2007 11:54AM (Joystiq Nintendo)While I haven't played Halo 3 yet (my 360 is in the mail as we speak) I thoroughly enjoyed the first two games, and found them to be wonderful additions to the FPS genre. Sure, there's very little that Halo did FIRST, but what the original Halo did was bring together all the best things about the FPS genre and put them in one box.
As a total package of story, music, gameplay, graphics, and multiplayer the Halo series stands out clearly as one of, if not THE best FPS series of all time.
I also have to agree with David that my Wii gets very little play time, even without another console currently in the house. While I really enjoy Wii Sports and Twilight Princess, the Wii doesn't have a lot of (good) games that I can pick up and play for short stretches when I get home from work or before a show my girlfriend wants to watch comes on. If I had more free time I'm sure I would play it more, but as a working gamer it just doesn't get much time.
TL;DR version = The Wii has the most potential of any system I've ever owned, but it's currently unrealized because developers seem to feel a need to churn out endless numbers of terrible minigame compilations instead of making serious games. Also Halo is a good series and if you hate it you've either never played it or you're a Nintendo or Sony fanboy.
