Nov 20th 2007 3:19PM (Joystiq)R&C is one of the most impressive games that I've seen to date. It feels like an interactive pixar movie. As a ps3 early adopter (I waited until 8 months after launch) I am glad that good product is finally coming out. In addition to this, multiplatform titles have finally reached parity as far as performance is concerned.
It's painfully true statements that F.R. made and continue to make that will get Sony's attention to actually support it's product and, in turn, support the consumers that believe in the product enough to own it...which, let's face it, Sony's got a bad track record of leaving us out to dry. Recently Sony's adjusted their marketing strategy and have made dev kit's more accessible.
Owning all 3 platforms takes me out of the fanboy mentality. I just don't want any of these purchases to be a waste of money. Something that, until now, the ps3 was looking more and more to be.
Kudo's to R&C. I look forward to more. Staring at a tech/spec sheet that tells me how superior my already upside down by $200 game machine that has nothing to do does little to nothing about the fact that, yes, for the last 6 months, it's been a shiny, heavy, dust collecting, folding, paperweight. But playing this game and seeing others makes all the difference.
As I see it, Sony needs to first win back the people that they have, to this point, turned thier backs on. The people that already own the system. That have seen 2 price cuts. That have had not had anything to show for thier early loyalty to a company that has made "cost-prohibitive" a part of thier long term sales strategy. This is a step. Continue to and increase supporting your Dev's Sony. Show me that I didn't make a mistake by buying your machine.
F.R., keep willing to be the guy that gets flamed for telling the obvious. In the long run, it helps everyone, because criticism creates improvement. Maybe some of this will get back to the right people, and they'll do something about the sad state of affairs that has placed an established company in the position to tout an obvious failure as a reason to take encouragement...and also...try the game out...it's pretty dope.
