Atlus.com hacked, trojan may have spread to visitors' computers

Why Atlus of all publishers? Attack Activision next time, please!

The Maw dev on the 'negative stigma' of DLC

Mar 31st 2009 2:48PM (Joystiq)
The whole argument about DLC being an unlock key or not is moot: it's quite easy for a dev/publisher to just strip content from a completed game, so that your download is physically bigger and you feel less ripped off.
I think that most of the DLC we see nowadays should be free, as in "Thanks for buying our game *and* thanks for not selling it (the used games market being the current nemesis of the industry, and rightly so in some ways). DLC like The Lost And Damned, it makes sense to sell it (for a reasonable price). Also, Having someone pushing *against* free DLC is pure madness, but then Microsoft notoriously sucks (I do own a 360).
Finally, as always, the blame is shared by those who sell and those who buy, accepting to be ripped off.

Rock Band Euro price won't 'magically' drop

Apr 14th 2008 6:46AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Do you know what else, Greg? Rock Band Euro discs and bundles won't 'magically' sell. And I sure hope they don't. Inflated price AND arrogance, now that's what we need.

Microsoft exec discusses the handheld game, Nintendo's strengths

Sep 27th 2007 2:50PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
"a system is only so good as its games"

This is true from an abstract, perhaps historical point of view. But changing perspective, the price, the looks, the (perceived) innovation factor of a system attract buyers, and buyers attract more and better games. Also, technical features (lack of a second analog stick on the PSP, touch screen on the DS, media support type, graphical horsepower) determine what games you can successfully develop on a certain system.

You see, it's way more complex and bidirectional than that.

He he, yes I did. That's why I wrote "should". :)

And I thought this would be a modern take on Tapper, where you actually *Tap* the screen! :D

By the way, I think this is the sort of release that should be free - as in Nintendo-funded. Or at least pack 4 or 5 and sell them for 10 dollars/euros.

Picross not hard enough?

Aug 17th 2007 4:18PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Great link strider. But unfortunately, another case of a reviewer missing the option to play Picross DS with the D-Pad and buttons, avoiding the annoying zoom and general clunkiness of stylus controls.

I'm sorry. I'm not used to this linking style. My brain thinks that links in pictures show a bigger version of them and "Read" links at the bottom show the full article. :)

Why isn't the link to Play-Asia in the article? Link, people, link!

Anyway, the 200$ price tag is still lower than the price of the Lite alone in Europe.

Taiko DS can't handle clothed drums

Aug 1st 2007 4:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Honestly I believe the frequency of bugs has more to do with rushing out releases than with the difficulty of coding for the DS...
