Amazon knocks some space bucks off Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 downloads this week

Mar 26th 2012 3:53PM (Joystiq)
I already have ME1 and ME2 on Steam, but haven't purchased any DLC for either game. Anyone know how that works?

Steam weekend sale on Square Enix catalog, Hitman special deal today

Mar 22nd 2012 6:26PM (Joystiq)
Since Gog.com got Thief and Thief 2, I've been waiting for Steam to get them. They're part of the Square/Eidos catalog on Gog. I wonder if there will be a Thief day or a Thief/Deus Ex day ...

Origin auto-adds EA games bought through Steam -- no, it's not creepy

Feb 27th 2012 11:29PM (Joystiq)
Let's say I buy Mass Effect 2 on Steam. I install it. Then I install Origin. Origin detects ME2 on my computer and lists it in Origin. Okay.

Now let's say I format my computer. Before I install Steam, I intall Origin. Will Origin now let me download ME2? From Origin servers? Or was Origin just smart enough to list games that are installed on my computer?

Uncharted Golden Abyss review: Grave rubber

Only read this review because Ludwig wrote it.

SSX soundtrack surprisingly doesn't feature The Avalanches

Feb 8th 2012 5:54PM (Joystiq)
Joystiq's game info for SSX says that this game is "available now," but according to everything I can find, its release date is February 28, 2012 (in US).

Tiny Tower builds up 10 million downloads

Feb 7th 2012 1:56PM (Joystiq)
I wish this game could sync between multple devices (ie iPhone and iPad) so I can have one game that saves to the cloud.

Nintendo: 3DS sales prove there's still room for dedicated gaming handhelds

Jan 27th 2012 5:39PM (Joystiq)
That's a nice sales spike for the 3DS, but I still think the dedicated portable game device's days are numbered.

Smartphones are becoming ubiquitous, they're less expensive than gaming handhelds, the games are cheaper. The reasons keep piling up.

Rayman Origins coming to PC March 29, retail versions DRM free

Jan 27th 2012 11:19AM (Joystiq)
@Special Agent Steve

Steam has/is DRM, but occasionally a game will be available on Steam that stalls additonal DRM on your machine. Didn't From Dust initially include additional DRM, but Ubi stripped it out in an update?

I don't mind DRM as long as I get to pick which one I'm dealing with (Steam), and I don't have to wade through multiple flavors to play a single game.

Steam launches Android and iOS app for free, in beta

Jan 26th 2012 3:06PM (Joystiq)
@(Unverified)

I couldn't find it either but if you view this Joystiq article in Safari on your iPhone and follow the "iOS" link, you can download the app. I did, and tried to sign in, but it told me that I am not part of the beta but that my account has been noted.

THQ incurs more layoffs, five internal studios not affected

Jan 26th 2012 2:39PM (Joystiq)
Why has Joystiq used the old THQ logo for the last two stories? OR did THQ switch back to the old logo?
