No political influence in Manhunt decision says BBFC

Jun 19th 2007 7:52PM (Joystiq)
There are Hostel 2 ads on TV at the moment, we just saw one on C4 about 15 minutes ago, so I'd say they were screening it. I'll be going along with my Wiimote, and replicating every single gory violent action in the film as it happens. CENSOR THAT BBFC!!!

The strangest thing is, in the UK we pride ourselves on being that bit more liberal and open minded about controls over media. Im surprised that we're banning a game that will be available to adults in the US, which (to us, at least) has a much more conservative outlet on media.

Before, I kind of wanted to play this game to at least get something made for my age group on the wii, now I HAVE to play this game, even if it is purely to exercise what i feel is my right to experience whatever media I should want to. This game is bound to get an eventual UK release, I just hope we don't end up with another SNES Mortal combat.

iPod blamed for stealing the thunder from contemporary art

Jun 15th 2007 8:01AM (Engadget)
Wow, techies HATE art!

First up, David Hockney is a more important artist than banksy. While everyone else in the world (read: the suburbs) natter on about his political agenda, those of us who've lived around and seen the progression of his work usually groan with embarrassment every time a new piece is unveiled. It is just boringly obvious. "yeah man, we hate Bush!" etc. How original.

Secondly, Hockney is right in his own way. The Proliferation of the iPod has been the key to the fragmentation and personalisation of popular culture. In 2007, we will never have another Beatles or Elvis; someone who appeals to almost everyone and sells masses of records. Instead, Apple sell millions of iPods to people who then choose their own unique playlists. Now we all want our own personal pop culture, and we can all buy the same product with which to experience it.

Sony: no 80GB PS3 for Europe

Jun 12th 2007 8:17AM (Engadget)
Sony Just love to crap all over Europe! Next you'll tell me that the PS3 is almost double the price here than what they sell it for in the US.

...YOU WHAT?!!!

Safari 3.0 available for Download

Jun 11th 2007 3:48PM (TUAW.com)
Also, I just activated this comment in hotmail and the link opened in a new window with a tingle tab for the TUAW page (I have tabs hidden unless there's more than one open) and the f***ing STATUS BAR at the bottom.

Status bar is the bane of my life. No wonder Safari 3 is still beta!

Safari 3.0 available for Download

I'm on a PPC mac, the safari beta is still brushed metal for me too. Also, the Find Bar feature was the one thing i was really excited about (I have to do a lot of research for uni and scanning to the useful bits of a website is much appreciated) doesn't seem to be there. Am I just being an idiot or can no one else find it?
