SimCity requires internet connection to play, will be sold outside of Origin

Mar 28th 2012 11:41AM (Joystiq)
I feel bad for the developers. So many people were looking forward to playing their game.

Sega's Shogun 2 expansion leads the charge on Origin

Unless it's a killer app like Battlefield, not buying anything off Origin. Steam all the way.

Dirt Showdown is about driving cars into other cars

This...is not the game for me. I associate Dirt with rally, not this.

PSA: Starhawk Beta open to all

Feb 22nd 2012 8:07AM (Joystiq)
I didn't care for it. The air combat in Warhawk felt less like dogfighting and more like Yar's Revenge 3d. Hawks stop and go like gigantic mosquitos. Not my thing, and Star Hawk doesn't play much differently. To put it another way, I'd like to see more Mech Warrior and less Mech Assault. in this series. Heavier, more meaty physics to flight and whatnot.

Players do use the walls well in most cases, protecting flags and base assets to a near impenetrable degree at times.

New Xenoblade Chronicles trailer shows off combat and menus

Feb 19th 2012 12:55AM (Joystiq)
Played the import a bit. The graphics are dated because hey, it's the Wii, but despite that I came away very impressed. This is what Final Fantasy should be in this day and age. Can't wait for this to come out.

Judge Xenoblade Chronicles by its (inside) cover

@Granger Yeah? Well, that's like, just your opinion, man. And I agree.

PSA: Ubisoft server migration means temporary offline time for some games

Feb 3rd 2012 1:52PM (Joystiq)
Six months from now I'll get something in the mail from Ubisoft outlining some sort of "class action lawsuit," skipping to the headline that says "How Does This Affect YOU?", jumping further still to the part that says "What Happens if You Accept the Terms," hoping for some kind of monetary compensation no matter how small, and upon finding nothing worthwhile, looking over the "What Happens if You Do NOTHING", double-checking to make sure that I'm not going to get reamed for something I barely care about to begin with.

Street Fighter X Tekken's Mega Man has Inafune's blessing

Jan 27th 2012 8:58PM (Joystiq)
I think it's hilarious. If you don't, that's fine but maybe lighten up? This isn't Marvel vs. Capcom. Traditional MM wouldn't look right in this game, but Bad Boxart Mega Man does.

Keeping an eye on this. That capital ship reminds me of TCS Tiger's Claw.

PSA: Soulcalibur now on iOS, is twelve freaking dollars

Jan 19th 2012 4:02PM (Joystiq)
Apple gaming has changed my expectations for how much games should cost on mobile devices. On its own, Soul Calibur has a lot of value as a fighting game provided you can play with another player. Compared to other games on the app market, you can get just as much value or more out of other games--Street Fighter IV is $3 and designed with touchscreens / mobiles in mind--plus Soul Calibur is really old. Most people have already played it before. There are times where you can buy Deus Ex: HR for close to $10 if you wait for a sale. Charging $15 flies in the face of customer expectations, and won't result in the sales they could make if they reduced it to $5.
