Fantastic Skyrim Gameplay that looks like a Bug #1: Giant physics

Nov 13th 2011 9:17PM (Joystiq)
This happened to me the first time I encountered giants. Only instead of watching my comrades be kicked out of the atmosphere, it was me. I was laughing too hard to care that it was a bug, and I would not mind if it stayed.

Gears of War 3 stats show shotgun domination; sawed-off weakened

And this is why I didn't bother getting this game. The single player is rarely fun - interesting, and attractive, but not fun - and the multiplayer issues weren't fixed on Gears 2 fast enough, and I knew they wouldn't be changed on Gears 3. Give it 3 years, boys... the 7th title update will bring about the changes needed.

@trunas

Gotta agree with @eat it on this one... Put it to the test. I have a shotty, you stand 20 feet away from me, I'll load my 12-gauge with some 1325fps shells, and we'll see who's standing after I pull the trigger.

*disclaimer* I would never shoot you. I love you.

@LENSconcept

Maybe they're shooting only slugs in vital points? And I don't know... a 12-gauge shotty from 10 yards would rip most of your torso up.... with a kevlar vest, maybe not, but you'd probably not want to move much, none the less.

Plus, all game guns are overpowered and over accurate - it's a fact of life. If I pull the left trigger, bam - sight stays perfectly still... just like my hands do when I hold a gun to my face for 10 minutes. No movement.

It's the exact same thing as Halo's Firefight! Which is the exact same thing as Gears' Horde Mode! Which is the exact same thing as... ah who cares.

If it looks fun, sounds fun, smells fun, it is fun. Who cares what game it's for? I'm not getting MW3 (Skyrim will be monopolizing my time) for a while, but this looks like one of my favorite modes in one of my favorite styles of game, so I can't imagine it would suck.

And I'm betting that if BF3 had something EXACTLY like this, It'd be just as fun, but when you only have the cash to buy one game, that's the one you're going to say is better just to justify yourself.

Gears of War 3 review: The damage done

Sep 15th 2011 9:08AM (Joystiq)
Gears lost me on multiplayer in the first game. Way too slow paced for me, and just absolutely unbalanced. Gears 2, I hesitatingly bought expecting the same thing.... and got the same thing. I liked Horde Mode, but only when my teammates were useful and had "tricks" to actually stay alive. Gears 3's Horde looks way too slapped together and "tower defense" style, which I just don't like.

The story sucked in the first one. I guess it worked, but I still had no clue what I did by the end of it. The story in the second one was just as stupid, but with a significantly larger amount of blood (and MARRIAA!! NOO!!!). This one is probably going to be just as ridiculous.

That being said, I have played the first two and for some stupid ass reason want to finish the story much like I did with Halo:Reach. I'll rent it, and go through on Easy. GOTY? No. Battlefield or MW3 might try for that, but I have a good feeling it'll be The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Chase down this Need for Speed: The Run footage

@kgoo867

I feel the same way. I actually didn't play NFS:HP2010, but it's really because it felt boring. I wanted to trick out cars and do the Underground modes again with drag racing. This seems like a fun change of pace. The running sequences SHOULD be scripted... it's a racing game at heart. I hated when I could get off the board in Tony Hawk cause the controls were bad. Heck, I'd be happy if they went completely over the top a la Modern Warfare and made me outrun a nuclear blast. Why not? If it's fun, if it gets my adrenaline pumping, I'm going to play it and I'm going to enjoy it.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary preview: Combat revolved

@My Prerogative

My thoughts exactly. It'll be a rental like the other Halo's after 2. Depends on how "budget" it is as mentioned in a previous Joystiq post, though. $30? I might cave and spoil my nostalgia. $40? That's 2-3 months of Gamefly I can wait for it while playing Skyrim.
