The only question is whether the cuts happened as a result of them not getting the grant, or if the cuts happened before the grant money was supposed to arrive. The timing makes a big difference.

On the bright side, the guy who worked there one day has to have a record for qualifying for unemployment benefits, which I believe Obsidian will have to help pay.

While I understand that the publisher is the one in control of some of the purse strings, better management would not have let them run at such a razor's edge margin. But alas, almost all management seems to suck.

Flash is just a container for video though. It's still frequently H.264 underneath, and you can stream that in other forms as well.

10-20% more? Where do you get that figure? These workers are getting a raise to ~$1.60 (USD) a day. I'm pretty sure American workers will need at least 5 times that, and even then you're only getting the people who are willing to work minimum wage. Add to that the inevitable union interference that comes with all production jobs, and you've increased your labor cost by 6-7 times, at minimum. I'm pretty sure that would increase costs by more than 20%.

Additionally, I would argue that low wages (relative to the rest of the world) and lack of social support are mutually exclusive. If the Party members in China weren't so busy finding and taking advantage of every single sleazy and corrupt revenue stream they could think of, the government and/or economy would have more money for the citizens.
