That sounds like a zero. Unless they are also grading it on its ability to serve as a drink coaster, a frisbee, and a lame rearview ornament, for which they gave 1 point each.

Mar 14th 2012 2:01PM (Joystiq)While I understand that the publisher is the one in control of some of the purse strings, better management would not have let them run at such a razor's edge margin. But alas, almost all management seems to suck.

Mar 7th 2012 7:37PM (Joystiq)10-20% more? Where do you get that figure? These workers are getting a raise to ~$1.60 (USD) a day. I'm pretty sure American workers will need at least 5 times that, and even then you're only getting the people who are willing to work minimum wage. Add to that the inevitable union interference that comes with all production jobs, and you've increased your labor cost by 6-7 times, at minimum. I'm pretty sure that would increase costs by more than 20%.
Additionally, I would argue that low wages (relative to the rest of the world) and lack of social support are mutually exclusive. If the Party members in China weren't so busy finding and taking advantage of every single sleazy and corrupt revenue stream they could think of, the government and/or economy would have more money for the citizens.
