'All decent people should denounce' Modern Warfare 2, Maine Christian group says

Dec 23rd 2009 3:21PM (Joystiq)
Well, it looks like this will be the last joystiq article I read. I don't mind joystiq, but as a Christian who does not have a problem with video games, I can't stand the hate I recieve as a Christian just because I am one.

"I didn't know christians were in the business of telling people what to do and how they should live..

Oh who am I kidding, they've been doing it for 2000 years."

"organized religion is humanity's greatest hoax on humanity

It's all fake and make believe people. I wish I could be around when humans don't have religions..."

And that makes atheism what then? Amazing how 98% of the world disagrees with this point and yet I get slammed by athiest biggots daily at school for my beliefs. Quit telling me how to live my life, your just as bad as the "christian" that you say that I am! Christianity is about love, not law. Don't judge me based on what the church has done, but judge me based on who I am!
Thanks for telling me how to live mine.

Micro-transaction model a possibility for WoW

Jul 5th 2009 8:07PM (Joystiq)
Its called Guild Wars. I don't want to get into this debate yet again, and I'm not a fanboy. It makes no sense for me to pay $15 when I can get my MMO fix for free in Guild Wars. High quality PvE and PvP, in my opinion and great community tools. Plus, my friends play Guild Wars, not WoW. At college, when every penny of your job goes to pay tuition, housing, books, and other stuff, $15 a month on an nonessential thing seems slightly rediculous when I spend maybe an hour or so playing games a week while I'm at college anyways. Thats how paying $15 is unreasonable to me. Plus, how long has WoW been out again? I don't remember, but the game has paid for itself 9x over, probably closer to 10000x over. Makes no sense to charge the same ammount of money if they don't include the expansion packs in free updates. Maybe my standards are too high, but oh well, I'm happy with what I play.

StarCraft II: Blizzard responds to lack of LAN support

Jul 1st 2009 1:38AM (Joystiq)
Marketing at its best. Exclude features that should be in the first that are relatively easy to implement, include them in another episode or expansion so the game also now has the function to print money.

While I'm at it, I can think of few instances where I've really had good, comparable experiences with online gaming to LAN gaming. The closest I've come is back in the days of Halo PC, my clan and I used to have a great time in Team Speak, but that is only because I will never meet them in real life. Funny thing, over the years I can guarantee that I've spent 1000+ hours in online gaming (I know I've spent 400+ in Guild Wars alone, and its still going up), and the most amazing gaming experiences I've had are not beating the currently ranked 2nd player in halo pc in a 1v1, but rather a simple LAN party in which we played many games that I did not originally own, but I bought them afterwards because I liked playing them so much. Also, college gaming=screwed. We LAN all the time since our stupid server won't connect us together for any sort of matchmaking or connection with LIVE or any other service (no clue what the issue is, but its fixable and the school just refuses), and the only thing that works around it is Killingfloor and Guildwars. Oh well, I thought Blizzard has been a jerk for a long time for not lowering the subscription fees for WoW even though it has profited more than any game that I can think of, but now, I think they will become the epitome of mockery amongst the LAN community.

"hey guys, want to play Starcraft II?" "Pfft, no, lag sucks, lets play some Demigod instead"

Joystiq Review: Watchmen: The End Is Nigh

Mar 7th 2009 7:53PM (Joystiq)
I would buy Lost and the Damned... but I can get Unreal Tournament 3 for three dollars less or Mass Effect for five dollars more. Not to mention the sweet chocolaty goodness that is the Orange box. I will buy DLC for things like... Fallout 3, but I see no reason to spend $15 on an expansion for a game I stopped playing about a month after it came out when I can get an awesome game for nearly the same price. Whether your selling horse armor or 10 hours of new content, I'll still pick buying Bioshock for $15 than DLC.
