Brutal Legend ad commercializes Eddie Riggs for television

Oct 13th 2009 2:23PM (Joystiq)
I dunno. The dialogue in this game is so goddamn good. They could have highlighted the whole Jack Black being hilarious thing more. And the song was kinda... :/

I feel like they could have done better, as far as ads go. I really, really want this game to sell.

The Monsters Of Rock '88 Tour. Van Halen, Dokken, Scorpions, Metallica, and Kingdom Come, in one god damn day. That is enough rock to last any man a lifetime.

Tim Schafer walks us through Brutal Legend's beginning

Yeah, the car controls seemed like they were slightly loose, which I kinda expected (kinda like the vehicles in Jak 2). The collision detection with hitting the druids seemed a little wonky too. I actually thought it was a little lame that they had the monster's tongue stuck that long, instead of sticking for so many seconds and then continuing its attack pattern, but I guess it will work as a lesson of how to defeat bosses in the game by looking for a weak spot (which applies to most video games, really). Oh, and he seemed to kinda move slower than I'm used to at the beginning.

Thats it. Those stupid nitpicky complaints are the only things I saw wrong with this otherwise totally fucking awesome demonstration. The writing(/ad-libbing) and voicework are fucking fantastic, the graphics are impressive, the art design is astounding, and the combat looks fun as hell. That undetermined release date can't come soon enough.

I've never seen such a slow pitch for a webcomic before. Jesus christ, their heads have got to be completely submerged in their own ass by now.

Joystiq turns 5, you get the presents! Win inFamous & Prototype on PS3

I first started reading when people were ass-deep in speculation over MGS3, and I was a video game correspondent for a news show. I saw this as the easiest means to rapidly consume current events, and I've been doing so ever since. Them Joystiq claws is hooked deep, I tell you.

GameTap: Emulation 'complexity' holding back Panzer Dragoon Saga

@daniel Yes, because if a gamer isn't willing to pay upwards of $100 on eBay to play a game for a console ten years dead, well frankly, they're just slinging bullshit. It's so OBVIOUS! I mean, why the hell would we want any Tom, Dick, or Harry playing this game? Do you have any idea what that would do to its reputation?! No, no, it's best that this game remain one of those badges of the hardcore gamer, that superficial mark of honor that says "I guess I just CARE more about games, huh?"

This is a truly fantastic game. I bought a Saturn so I could play this game (I lucked into a copy from within my family), and if there's a way we can spread the sweet love of Saga, well goddamn, we better get out there and SPREAD IT.

John Connor destroys a bunch of robots in Terminator: Salvation trailer

FINALLY, the music actually sounds like a reworking of the Terminator theme, as opposed to a passing resemblance with an extra DADA DUH DUHDUH at the end.

I'll turn a blind eye to this for now, but so help me god, if this little breakup keeps me from the sweet, sweet love of a current-gen Twisted Metal, I will put on my stranglin' gloves and get a-stranglin'.

Max Payne director upset about potential R-rating

Sep 8th 2008 11:37PM (Joystiq)
I don't think some of you are seeing the problem here. He was intentionally scaling the violence he shot to stay strictly within his understanding of the totally undefined limits of a PG-13 rating. However, the MPAA, like their idiotic asses tend to do, thought that the movie "felt like an R", and rated it as such, screwing them out of a significant part of the audience (yes, people under 17 will still see it, but not nearly enough to make up for the losses). The MPAA has no guidelines or standards, and are prohibited from using other movies (like the Dark Knight) as precedent when rating movies. To hell with them.
