Oblivion heads to Japan, scores big

Jul 26th 2007 4:00PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Oblivion was the first game that I bought for my 360, and it is worth every penny and more!

Wait for the GotY edition to come out. That should have KotN ($10) and SI ($30) on it, if I'm not mistaken, not to mention all of the DLC that's available on XBLM.

Either way, please play this game. Mass Effect and Eternal Sonata will be must-buys for RPG fans this holiday season, but Obliviion is a must-buy, period.

Best XBOX 360 I've played yet. Gears is great, but the story is too short. You can spend hundreds of hours with Oblivion, all by yourself, and not get bored. It's THAT good.

We want a bloody 300 themed Elite!

I wonder how many of these will be on eBay within hours of the giveaway?

Sad. Someone will likely pay $1000+ for it, too.

Starving children, people. Starving children.

Rumor: 360 price cut by $50 in August

If you include a free game (between $40 and $60) and a free year of Live ($50), isn't that like knocking another $100 off?

The reason why the sales have slacked off is because there is a large install base already. We're almost 2 years out from the launch.

Here's what I would rather have:

-- Kill the Core: No point in owning the system if you don't have the HDD, in my opinion.
-- Rename the 'Premium' the 'Standard' and price it at $299.
-- Keep the 'Elite' name and make it $399.

Another thing about people petitioning for a free year of Live. The ability to download content and make a friends list is already free (the Silver membership). I can understand a free 2 months of Gold Live (roughly $16), but not a full year.

Free Vampire Rain and Project Sylpheed content

I'm actually looking forward to playing both. They can't be THAT bad. Of course, if you look at my games-played list, I play everything on the planet, so his will be no different. :-)

Hands on with the Chatpad and Messenger Kit

@8... The point of the keyboard being that size is so you won't have to clutter up your space with a damn USB keyboard that you have to put down your controller to type with two hands. This is a HUGE help for all of us who message our friends.

And I need a new headset. :-)

It looks like it will be VERY addictive. I can't wait to download the trial and then buy the game if I like it.

Aaron Greenberg: no X07 this year

@9 --- Damn right!!! 2008 will seem like a down year when the 360 will see roughly 20 titles released between August and December. Still, even if the 360 does half of the sales that they are doing now, they will still be ahead of Sony.

Fallout 3 screens show ludicrous gibs

@ccc --- You can probably find 1, 2, Brotherhood of Steel bundled together at either Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.

Regarding this article:

I'm really anticipating this title. I'm anxious to see what Bethesda did that would outdo Oblivion with respect to gameplay mechanics is concerned. Obviously, the visuals are going to be different, given the time periods of each game.

Bioshock's eerie musical score gets analyzed

Gay? Music is one of the main components in game design. When Halo fanatics hear the first chords of the Halo theme, they get goosebumps. Music is extremely important in setting mood, atmosphere, and everything in the game that supports the gameplay.

By the way, the fact that I've only purchased two games mean that I rent... a lot.

$16.99 per month for 3 games or movies out at once. Beats Gamefly, hands down.
