Jesus, Yahweh, Allah, Buddah, Halie Selassie and Krishna, won't this chart just die already so we can get back to just friggin' enjoying playing video games?
I've been completely turned off and tuned out since The Who pack dropped, but that's the thing about the Rock Band DLC - when I was having a great time when The Cars and Pixies dropped, I suppose a lot of people getting so excited here were feeling like I do now. I'm not much of a metal fan, but I know that all I need to do is wait a few weeks and we'll be back to stuff I enjoy.
Because an institution designed to provide information accessible to all citizens regardless of age, economic status or educational background is something to hate and despise. Who needs libraries when you've got the ever-reliable Internet? Why on earth would you ask an information professional to help you find timely, accurate information when Wikipedia answers all?
Yeah, libraries are the great scourge of our society, and we'd all be better off without them. Riiiiiiight.
I've known non-Christian soliders, and I've known liberal soliders. They do exist. To suggest that someone who identifies as politically liberal somehow hates America is oversimplifying things. It is entirely possible to disagree with the basis, handling and current conduct of a military operation without hating America. Personally, as one of the atheist social liberals (not so much an economic liberal, except in the libertarian liberal sense) you seem to hate and despise so much, I think that we need some manner of overseas presense now that we've destabilized the Middle East. My guess is we'd disagree how to restabilize the area and promote peace in the battered region, a peace that would benefit not just the United States but the entire world, but that disagreement is at the heart of American democracy. I hope we can stop the name-calling. I hope the entire nation can stop the name-calling. I respect your passion, and your obvious love for the country, but the essence of a free and civil society must be cooperation and comprimise because wholly rational people can and will disagree.
This goes out to the entire board. It's hard to keep the emotions under control because you obviously care deeply in your beliefs. But insults aren't going to get us anywhere. I know this is just the internet, and just a game blog on the internet, but it's still a channel for discussion - which makes this a channel for democracy. May I very humbly suggest we assume the best of the person who disagrees with us, and seek understanding deeper than a few pithy lines?
There's a saying that the political is the personal, and that the personal is political. To suggest that video games are free from politics is absolutely absurd. I think the huge number of comments you refer to is evidence in that direction.
Actually, he is a journalist. Employed by the Philadelphia Inquirer. You, however, are not a journalist. You are a blogger. By that reasoning, you need to stop pretending that you know what you're talking about.
This is an opinion piece. You can disagree or agree with it, and give evidence to your claim. Your ad hominem attack has no bearing on whether this article is related to video gaming, nor does it have any bearing on whether waterboarding or video game violence are related. You give no evidence that waterboarding and video game violence are not related, beyond "it's ridiculous," which sounds like a argumentum ad populum - which seems to be a false assumption since there are people here who think otherwise.
The "switch two" thing actually can have a lot of strategy behind it, especially when looking to chain together combos. On top of that you've got spells that can change jewel colors or destroy jewels, which is a whole other layer to consider. Having played the game and enjoyed it considerably, I didn't think the gameplay was boring because there was a lot of variables in how you executed the simple play mechanic.
