Mar 22nd 2010 2:17AM (Joystiq)The best DRM solution I have seen so far is what Impulse did for Demigod. GPG basically came out and said, "pirate our game, here is the link to the torrent on TPB". The idea was, you could pirate the game, and play the single player freely. However, if you wanted to play online, you would have to buy the game so you could register your Impulse account with the game with a key. The majority of people who did this ended up buying it because they wanted to try out the multiplayer. Then of course, you didn't need to have Impulse open to play Demigod, not even for online! You didn't need to have most recent versions either; you just could only play against people who had the same version as you.
