Coming soon to a film festival near you:
"Who killed the mid-sized truck?"

Judd Apatow to Write and Direct 'Knocked Up' Spinoff

Jan 7th 2011 8:56AM (Moviefone Blog)
It's not like Apatow is all that great at creating deep characters anyway.
Look at actors like Leslie Mann, Jonah Hill, and Michael Cera (who is particularly guilty of this) who can only play one character anyway.

Trailer Park: Eva, Howl, Exam

The Town looks pretty awesome. That's one great cast that they've assembled. I really like Gone Baby Gone, so I'm looking forward to see what Affleck has for us this time.
I'm also curious to see what John Hamm brings to the table. I get the impression that everybody is rooting for him to be the next big movie star.

Nic Cage Makes Good on His Threat to Punish Us with 'Ghost Rider 2'

Jul 16th 2010 2:22PM (Cinematical)
Ghost Rider got a lot of things wrong, but I think the casting is one of the things it got right. I'm glad they are sticking with Cage even the sequel will probably be just as much of a reboot.

What Was I Thinking?: Changing Your Mind About Movies

Jul 15th 2010 9:31AM (Cinematical)
For me it was Transformers (2007). I'm a big TF fan and I also was a Michael Bay fan. When I saw the movie on the big screen, I LOVED it, I mean every minute of it.
Then I saw it at home a couple more times, and the flaws really jumped out. ... and God knows that movie has some BIG flaws. Now I'm just indifferent about it.
I could say the same thing about the sequel. It was awesome in the theater the first time, but now it's just painful to watch again.

HS Movie Club Discussion: 'Session 9'

Jul 12th 2010 9:12PM (Horror Squad)
I just saw this movie for the first time, would you believe, about a month ago. Got it from Netflix. I loved it as well. Everything about it was fantastic. All the acting was spot on. I loved how genuinely creepy the entire movie is. I was afraid it would resort to cheap scares but it never did. The lead man David Mullen was phenomenal, and I wonder why I don't see him in more movies. Josh Lucas was also very good. He seems like an underrated actor.
I love that it looks like it's going to be a generic horror movie, but it ends up as a brilliant, psychological thriller, and that's the best kind of surprise ending.

Just One Thing in Defense of 'The Last Airbender'

Jul 6th 2010 1:12PM (Cinematical)
Glad to hear that. I always enjoyed his directing style and the way he's not afraid to take risks with the camera. For example, the WTF shot at the very end of "Lady" where the POV is in the pool looking up through the water.

New Nationwide cars don't look like Mustang, Challenger; NASCAR still irrelevant

Jul 6th 2010 11:25AM (Autoblog)
Remember when stock car races actually used "stock" cars?
Even the "S" in NASCAR stands for "Stock". The fact that the cars were stock, led to the appeal.

M. Night Shyamalan: The End is Near (for His Career)

Jul 4th 2010 8:47PM (Cinematical)
At the time I am writing this, Mojo is estimating a $40 million opening weekend for Airbender, to claim the #2 spot, and with a $57 million total thus far. That opening is more than "Knight and Day". That's more than "Robin Hood". That's more than "Kick-Ass". That's more than "Percy Jackson". It's almost more than "Cop Out" and "Zack and Miri" made together, in their entire theatrical runs!
Where are the articles claiming the end is near for James Mangold, Ridley Scott, Matthew Vaughn, Chris Columbus, and Kevin Smith? Where are they?
Let's give the guy a break. If you don't like his movies, don't go see them. I'm tired of critics who go to the press junkets, get flown to the film festivals, and see the movie for free, and then act like the filmmaker has committed some sort of atrocity against the world because he made a movie for 12-year-old boys, and God forbid you had to sit through it.
M. Night is going to be just fine. He'll always find a way to finance his films, and he'll keep making them, and someday he'll make a really good movie again.

There's Something For Everyone In 'The Last Airbender'

Jul 1st 2010 3:51PM (Cinematical)
It has something for everyone, as long as everyone is Helen Keller.
