Editorial: Waiter, there's a Nazi theme in my Android Market (updated)

Aug 13th 2010 6:04PM (Engadget)
"an app store isn't the internet. It's not a free-for-all, it's not an open venue where any type of wares might be hawked."

You just spelled out why Android appeals to me and iPhone does not.

An app store SHOULD be an open venue where anything and everything can be sold. I don't care if you want to create an ESRB-like system, or a "mature" section, or whatever... just keep it open.

Finally!
I've been dying to have some game controls on Android. I HATE virtual overlays on the iTouch and my Android phone. And with thousands of NES, SNES, & Genesis ROMs on my Android, it's been the source of much lament for me.

@NiftyPixel

Wow, thanks for posting that. This thing is even better than I realized. Half the size, 75% of the power. That is pretty damn amazing. And here I thought my Osborne 1 was tight!

@Firehazel

I think you're missing the point. None of the micro PC's out there even come close to how small this thing is.

Acer does make some pretty small micro PC's though, much tighter than Dell Zinos and Mac Minis. Just a question of preference. If you're purely making your decision on price, It'd be better to snag a refurbished Zino for $250 --most bang for the buck.

Google launches social networking initiative, more Farmville than Facebook

Android on the PS3? ...how would that work?

If you mean cheap, open-source, open-platform applications and games then hell yeah, bring it on, Sony.

On topic: I have no interest in crap like FarmVille and MafiaWars, but I am interested to see where Google goes with this. If it only manages to bring some new ideas to the table, then at least other companies will gain some new ideas, and that's a good thing. Much like how smartphone gaming has inspired consumer ratings for content on the PS3.

True dat. It does run 2.1 & 2.2 nicely. Switching apps is often slow though while it unloads and loads from it's tiny cache of memory.
