"NO SKATING ONLINE" for PS3's Tony Hawk

Sep 18th 2006 6:36PM (Joystiq)
I know what a fanboy's response will be, but for everyone else: if you're given graphics that are pretty much the same, longer load times, NO ONLINE PLAY for most third party games, and are asked to pay an extra $200 or so . . . why would you?

"Epic" RPGs: too time-consuming for casual gamers?

Sep 18th 2006 6:20PM (Joystiq)
You can run through Oblivion in 20-30 hours. Would I recommend it? No. I spent over 200 hours (and yes, I have a wife, 3 kids, a job and for a spell, a great deal of sleep deprivation). The joy of Oblivion is that it has lots of little things you can do for 30 minutes or so. Did that stop me from playing for 4 hours straight? No. But for folks with more willpower . . .

You can fly through a game like Obilivion, but why would you want to?

Now if you're going to change something, find a way so that I can play with a buddy over Xbox Live in co-op.

Game On returns to the UK, London's Science Museum

Saw it in Seattle. It is definitely worth a visit. Plan for most of a day. If you're reading this blog, you need to be there. Being able to play the old Star Wars game, Tron Discs, Asteroids, etc, etc in cabinet form and then to have pretty much every console game you can think of to boot (Pitfall, etc) makes the cost of admission more than worth it.

Critiquing Nintendo's Wii launch details

Sep 14th 2006 3:18PM (Joystiq)
I'm still betting that Sony slips again.

Which would have the Wii coming out first.

I play online almost exclusively. Looks like that's not going to be a focus of the Wii. So no Wii for Mii.

You have to defend your IP. Period. Failure to do so only opens you up more when someone comes along and tries to make money on your ideas.

It's a lawyer thing, not a "let's be mean to the community thing".

Xbox 360 HD-DVD bundle to undercut PS3 in Europe, according to uh-oh ... "retail sources"

Sep 8th 2006 6:09PM (Joystiq)
Is it just me or do the comments from azn and non-believer look . . . well, the same or at least scripted?

Are these folks hired by Sony or just fanboys out for revenge.

What I love is this "next gen" debate? Sorry, but I think the "next gen" started last November. If you've played Oblivion or Fight Night (remember a Sony Tech demo from E305?) or Chromehounds or GR:AW then I think you'd be pretty convinced you've played "next gen".

Have there been any non-pre-rendered videos of PS3 games that blow 360 games out of the water? Uh, no.

Have there been any details about online gameplay from Sony besides some blanket promise about being free? Uh, double no.

There seems to be some fixation with size. So you have a bigger storage medium, what counts is what you put on it? So what you end up with is stupid comments like "Resistance Fall of Man wouldn't fit on a DVD". Of course if won't, you're putting all the localized content from multiple countries on it. Do you have to do that? No. It's like boasting that the size of the bag you got from McDonalds is twice as big as the bag from Burger King. It's the food inside the bag that counts, stupid, not the bag.

Until a PS3 is actually played, (besides actually being Made) all the rampant speculation about "being technically superior" or "having better graphics" is pure speculation.

If you like games then you probably already have a 360, are waiting for a Wii and might pick up a PS3 when you can finally find one. But for all the masses out there, what do you think is going to happen in Nov when the reviews start coming in saying that there isn't that much of a difference? That the load times are beyond long? What do you think is going to happen when you can compare COD3 on the two systems. And then what happens when you look around and see a 360 and a Wii sitting on the shelf as your two big choices.

I've got a guess . . .

X360F asks, what are you playing? (again)

#14 About the riot of parents . . .

Do you think there will be a lot of parents camping out to shell out about $1000 US for a "game console" for their kids?

I really hope not.

What's your Xbox 360 top 3?
