Iwata: 3DS is Nintendo 'priority,' even at the sake of short-term profitability
Nov 2nd 2011 12:47PM (Joystiq)absolutely thrilling discourse! thanks again! you sir, are a peach!
Iwata: 3DS is Nintendo 'priority,' even at the sake of short-term profitability
Nov 1st 2011 3:05PM (Joystiq)Then they said they weren't sure if it would be a launch title. then they said maybe by christmas. then they said 2012. go to Nintendo.com and search for Kid Icarus (Uprising doesn't even show up).
this is what I meant by "forgotten." they took the most exciting title for the system and misplaced it. stopped talking about it. it is baffling.
(also baffling: both of you telling me this is not what forgotten means. what word would you use?)
I read some notes around E3 that the game was really hard to control (not sure if this was Sakurai's intention. or if Nintendo freaked out at the concept of a launch game being not-casual).
Then I read (here? Gamasutra? Giant Bomb?) that game was badly received by the press, and was going to be pushed back for tweaking.
Now we hear they've added ARG cards and multiplayer. wha? just give me the damned game.
everytime they show it, or someone talks about playing it for 5 minutes, i drool. 3DS could have used an exciting launch franchise, and here it is. but instead it's been swept under the rug and forgotten. to me, this is the most interesting aspect of the 3DS failure so far.

Nov 1st 2011 1:12PM (Joystiq)I think they figure those will be enough to drive people to the system.
I think they're holding the rest back so that next year isn't empty.
(however, i made some psychotic pact to only buy the 3DS when the new Kid Icarus comes out. soo. this strategy isn't selling me).

Nov 1st 2011 1:10PM (Joystiq)Why don't you release some sort of bullet hell game - in 3D. You could point out that nobody has made a 3D Bullet Hell game, because it's too hard to judge the bullet distance while also flying around in 3D - unless you are viewing it in 3DS. Maybe you could call this game Kid Icarus Uprising. thbbt.

Nov 1st 2011 1:05PM (Joystiq)So I'm still waiting to buy the system until Kid Icarus Uprising to come out. (does anyone remember this game? the one they ANNOUNCED THE SYSTEM WITH and then forgot about?)
Kinect's 'Family Vision': FMV games in every home
Oct 19th 2011 6:12PM (Joystiq)http://www.microsoft.com/Presspass/Features/2011/oct11/10-18KinectPlayfulLearning.mspx
these are NOT meant to be games, Mr. Fletcher. This represents a new form of television programming. (no?)

Oct 19th 2011 6:10PM (Joystiq)i got the impression these weren't going to be "games"
I thought the whole point was that these were going to be original tv show programming. ie, a form of tv you could only watch/interact-with on Xbox.
help? anyone? (my thoughts are based on how gamasutra reported this)
Pixar's 'Rush,' new Sesame Street game coming to Kinect (for kids)

maybe it's confused because Pixar and double fine are doing games, and the others are making tv shows? or maybe this was mis-reported. help? anyone?
RAGE review: Anger management
Oct 4th 2011 2:58PM (Joystiq)I'm well above minimum specs, but the experience is unplayable. i think they should have set minimum higher. but I don't know anyone running at recommended or higher specs, so i haven't actually been able to see the game running reasonably yet.
it feels very much like a shitty console port.
RAGE review: Anger management
Oct 4th 2011 2:56PM (Joystiq)it is very sad to hear that this game is just a tech demo - because it's a very bad tech demo that I can't play. on my iMac i7 (running windows7 via bootcamp) - it crashed whenever i tried to start.
turned out i had to download an ATI hotfix driver. Now it starts, but the pop in, horrible frame rate, video glitches, and audio cutting off = adds up to an unplayable mess of bullshit.
so angry I preordered this game. so angry i trusted iD to deliver what they've promised in interviews.
I strongly get the feeling this game onyl remotely works on their recommended specs, and they just figure everyone else should get used to constant texture pop up and crappy frame rate. disgusting.
(doom3 runs amazingly on my system. it's gross that a hot new release can't match up to years old games).
I wish they'd been more up front about how shitty the experience would be on PC, if you didn't have brand new bullshit. *$&%#$@
