As far as making new mistakes rather than old ones...I don't think that offering store inventory online was a mistake. That was an awesome feature that kept people from wasting time waiting at the Apple stores. They could look online and see whether or not the stores had iPhones (or whatever the product was...I forget now)

Why couldn't they offer that for this launch? That one feature that they already built up and used could save a lot of people a lot of frustration. With this launch, it seems like they didn't learn from past mistakes, they just decided to start from scratch and make new ones.

It's not the end of the world but the point is they've done better in the past. They didn't do some of the things that made past product launches smoother. I was promised 3-5 day shipping as well and now (almost day 6) it's still stuck in "Prepared for Shipment." It's just annoying to be told something and not have it fulfilled. Bad PR.

@MrAhh Because I'll always make sure to have my Wiimote in my travel bag just in case I get the itch to play some N64 games on the road.

Tech demos are fun but how is this useful to the extend that it should make me want to get rid of my iPhone?

Every time I or one of my family members/friends has bought a new Mac in the past 3 or 4 years, I've purchased a new box at the discounted price for myself. I just renewed and still have a shrink-wrapped box sitting on my desk waiting for the next renewal.....I'll be pretty peeved if it becomes free and now this $70 box is useless.

That's the selfish perspective...the other side of the coin is, AWESOME!!!

Here's something fun to think about (slightly off-topic). Notice how the new default desktop background for Lion is a mountain or volcano peak? Could this be subliminal messaging that perhaps this iteration of OSX is the last before a jump to OS11 (XI)? Rumors keep popping up about UI overhauls in this version...maybe Apple believes OSX has "peaked" and is starting a shift to something new.

Will it play through component cables to a TV? My guess is probably not since movie studios don't like to let us watch movies.
