Looks like the love child of the Sony Ericsson C902 and the current iPhone...... And it all looks kind of nice.
Wonder if this is the form factor the next ipod touch will take or if the fact it resembles more of a 'candy bar' form factor will see a completely different direction for the Touch.
Cant believe they are not releasing in the UK following the Apple let down. Really wanted to get this because of the OLED screen, radio and stunning interface.
Looks like Sony or Samsung are going to get my money now though. I know it wont matter to Microsoft in the slightest, however with the positive vibes Windows 7 is getting everywhere the Zune HD could have piggybacked the hype of the launch and it would have done well (at least in the UK).
Gotta love the sheer irony. They bash MS for rehashing Vista as Windows 7 and then simply speed bump all there existing hardware and tweaks there existing OS!
I really was looking forward to the new iPhone and feel a little bit gutted by it. Dont really feel the need for a digital compass!
Do like the 13 inch Pro though, putting that on my shopping list as we speak.
I love coming here and reading all the Sony hater comments that all seem to have made their minds up prior to a device getting a full release.
'Not Apple..... FAIL'.
I prefer.... 'My mum and dad brought me an ipod touch for Christmas and I cant stand the thought of something else coming to the market which might compete/ blow it out of the water....... FAIL'.
Get over it.
iPhones and touches are great devices and if you like splashing out on apps, even more so. However, Sony and Cowon are releasing devices that are, hardware wise, a step up in both audio and visual quality.
People moaned that although the S9 looked good and had superior sound quality = Fail as it didnt have wifi. The Sony comes with wifi and has superior sound/ vision...... on noes! that equals a fail because it isnt as cheap as an iPod. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT A YEAR OLD PRODUCT, AN i POD SHOULD COST LESS THAN EITHER THE S9 OR SONY.
For the record sSony priced their 16gb walkmans at 50% off over the Christmas period. I picked up one up on Amazon for £76 whilst my mates who know no better splashed out shed loads on the equivalent Nano. Didnt see anyone knocking Sony's price point then.
If the iPod Touch 3rd Gen can touch these two devices on auio or visual (should know by the start of June), I'll pick one up. However I bet it will cost more than the newly released Sony or Cowon. Does that automatically equate to a fail to you guys?
DRM worm? Denver Sony products have been simple drag n drop for years now with no need for theirs or any other third party apps. It plays very nicely on its own with Windows. Obviously it is 1996 for yourself;)
Was always going to be the 32gb flavour S9 or this. Looks like Sony wins out for me (also about £30 cheaper for the Sony on Amazon compared to the S9).
Shank, give it a rest mate. Anything that isnt an iclone you would probably consider a fail. This is a quality unit sound and vision wise and the firmware update sorted out many issues with the UI. Some people just want a good MP3 player and arent worried about the apps that make up for the lacking audio quality.
Nice looking bit of kit and the 32gb option makes it all the better
This is being priced about 20 pound less than the equivalent ipod in the UK. Add into the fact that I wont need to shell out for new phones, a great screen and Sony build/ Sound quality I certainly dont think it a fail.
If the reviews say it sucks i'll agree, but I doubt it.
Great little MP3 Player, not some lifestyle accessory for the clones out there;)
Which means that it easily compares to the 32gb touch. Also has the benefit of a good set of ear phones so you wont have to shell out a further 50 quid to make it sound as good as it should. How is that not affordable!!!!
Its always been a close run thing for me between this and the Cowon S9. However the wifi (ve always liked dling podcasts to my PSP just before leaving the house) and extra storage will probably see my money float the way of Sony.
Im holding out for the 32gb to be released (should be around Feb/ March) and to see what Sony bring to the table at CES. I own a NWZ A818 at the mo and love the sound quality. Exactly the reason I would buy the Sony or Cowon next time. Most of their lives are spent in pockets so Im not too bothered how bling the GUI is. I just want to know that the sound is good. Video quality is an added bonus.
