My favorite scene was the one where that guy gets killed and there's all that blood...

Wii Tennis destroys girl's knee

Dec 18th 2006 1:31PM (Joystiq)
As someone who has dislocated their patella before, I've got to say that the injury looks legit...I've got a comparable picture of myself. To those that would ask "why take a picture?", it's because you've got nothing better to do while waiting for the paramedics, and it's a really cool thing to show to people afterwards.

To those that say "why call the paramedics", it's because that hurts like CRAZY and you can't even move yourself without extreme pain - you need lots of help and a stretcher.

And to the person that claims to work in a hospital and says they've never seen anything like this without major trauma, you obviously haven't seen everything yet. I stepped funny on short carpet wearing socks and down I went...apparently I have an unusually shallow "patellar groove" so I was more prone to this kind of thing. I've got no reason to doubt someone couldn't do the same thing if they were playing their Wii in heels.

Sure it could be fake, but even if it is, this could easily happen in real life, and probably will if it hasn't already.

Halo: Combat Evolved on XBLM?

Mar 18th 2006 1:24AM (Joystiq Xbox)
It wouldn't be a waste of resources if you could play it online! Oh, how I'd love to go back to the good old days of pistols on Hang 'Em High!

That being said, I don't think there's much chance of that happening. And as cool as it would be, I'd probably rather see them working full-time on bringing us the next chapter of the Halo story as soon as possible.

Shane Battier won't travel without his games

Mar 13th 2006 12:10PM (Joystiq)
That's funny, one of the greatest moments in my life was February 14th, 2001, when UVA handed Duke one of their few losses on the run to their championship. I think Shane only lost something like 5 games in his entire college career, and I was there for one of them...

What happened to instruction manuals of yore?

Mar 11th 2006 1:12PM (Joystiq)
I was JUST thinking this yesterday as I read through the GRAW manual. Not only did it contain a few mistakes (about what buttons do what), but it had very little to say about the multiplayer aspect of the game such as the different game types or player classes.

These days it's almost like the manual is an afterthought, written by someone who hasn't even played the game before...

Ear Force X2 headset is wireless... sort of

Mar 8th 2006 11:35PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I think Seth (and Turtle Beach) must have forgotten about one of the main selling points of the 360: standard 5.1 surround for all games! While I'm forced to concede his point that I'm not hearing some of the sound I should be due to the XBL headset covering my ear, I still feel like my 5.1 rig gives me a nice advantage in shooters...never mind the cool factor of hearing a rocket fly over your head in Halo 2!

Give me an all-in-one headset option that simulates surround sound and I *might* be interested. Otherwise, give me one of the two options mentioned in the original post. Or, how about this as a third option: a wireless headset that taps into the wireless signal that's already present between the controller and the console? All the data is already being wirelessly transmitted, you'd just need to intercept it somehow. I'd imagine this would be something only MS could pull off, and not a 3rd party, but it sure would be a pretty solution!

Quick, someone get me a spectrum analyzer!
