I really cant see why 3d shutter glasses are so expensive. The tech is... well its old. The glasses have a single black channel LCD screen that just flicks at 50/60hz. Using IR to sync to the player.
It really isnt advanced tech by any means. Even the RnD costs wouldnt cover the high cost of the glasses. And as for materials they look to be the cheapest they could find.
