At this point I have a hard time believing that HD-DVD will win out. Last I saw only a very few HD-DVD players had even been sold (worldwide) and the PS3 launch is fast approaching. Sony expects to have 2 million ready for launch, another 2 million by Christmas (if memory serves me) and 2 million shortly after.
That is enough of an installed user base to kill HD-DVD right there as long as the movies get into stores.
I don't understand the line of thought expressed in these comments (which is typical whenever this discussion comes up). Why wouldn't you want a Mac to play games well and do everything you currently use it for? It doesn't make sense.
Nintendo needs (read absolutely must) make some concessions to the older gamers that are still interested in them. Releasing an inherently violent game without blood is just stupid and there is no way, IMO, that you can spin that for the better.
RE4 was the right path and if Nintendo has already forgotten that they are done. I was concerned that the Rev might end up being a brilliant console held back by Nintendo's "please the moms and dads" policies. It's looking like I may be right.
