That's not terribly uncommon. Most US-based studios are closed for the 2nd half of December anyways, due to the holidays and it is normal to give a team a couple weeks off after shipping a major project. Since MW shipped near the start of Dec., IW may have just decided to lump everything in together and give the studio the whole month off, rather than bring folks back in for a couple days before holiday break.

If the designer, engineer, artist, animator, etc. who works more than full time hours for two years to produce the game do not get a flat rate + a percentage of the sales, then why should voice actors whose work can be measured in hours get a better deal? Most game devs get a salary and MAYBE some kind of variable bonus at the end of the year, which is usually crappy and not at all in line with a percentage of the game sales. This is why game devs think actors asking for residuals on games is laughable.

Where SAG has a good argument is in defining principal vs supporting characters and minimum compensation based on how stressful the recording session is (lots and lots of yelling and screaming in games is very stressful on an actor's voice and deserves more compensation).

Technically, this is at least the second (maybe third) time Digital Domain has entered the games space. Previous attempts were shut down.

I used Onfolio back when it was 1.0 and found it to be a great web research/collection tool. Plus, the developers were very responsive and friendly on the forums. I sure hope everybody there got a piece of the acquisition action.

If you're a Firefox user (like me) and need to collect local copies of web pages for research, take a look at the ScrapBook extension. It's not nearly as robust as Onfolio, but it gets the job done.
