Rock Band Drum Kits ship to American and Canadian stores

Feb 21st 2008 1:05PM (Joystiq)
I saw these in my local GameStop about a week ago.

January NPD: PS3 and PS2 top 360, everyone down for the month

Feb 14th 2008 7:57PM (Joystiq)
Anyone who's pointing to this as the PS3 beating the 360 in sales is a retard. Every console is over 2/3 lower than their December sales.

Any month where DS Lite sales are ~250k doesn't say much about normal, realistic sales.

PS2 backwards compatibility not dead yet

Feb 13th 2008 6:22PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Emulators aren't illegal; unauthorized copies of game data are.

And there are no decently working PS2 emulators out there.

The thing is Sony built the GPU on the PS2 from the ground up, and I doubt it would be any huge feat for Sony to write a working PS2 emulator for their own PS3.

Sony nixed BC on the newer models mostly because they wanted people buying and playing PS3 games. They need to show investors there's money in the next generation of gaming, so they're using anyone who buys a 40GB PS3 to act as their proof of PS3 game demand.

Damn it feels good to have a Game Boy

My original gameboy was on pause while i read this article. Playing Donkey Kong (not Land) on it.

Works like the day I bought it.

Xbox 360 as set-top box: 'not able to receive or record live TV'

Jan 9th 2008 5:57PM (Joystiq)
I like that some no-name chinese company can build me a $20 TV tuner for my PC, but the biggest software company in the world is too lazy to do it on their own hardware.

Microsoft offering free XBLA game due to Live issues

Jan 4th 2008 12:05PM (Joystiq)
Whatever, since two of the big titles I got for christmas were singleplayer (Mass Effect and Assassain's Creed), I didn't really care too much about the outages. Still a pain in the ass when I wanted to play some co-op rainbow six vegas.

Oh, and to anyone who says "PSN IS SO MUCH BETTAR IT IS FREE AND ALWAYS WORKS", tell that to my copy of Time Crisis 4 that absolutely refuses to download the 1.01 patch despite having no issues with its connection. I have to turn off WiFi just to play it. Ugh.

Harmonix: Blame Activision for PS3 Rock Band guitar issues

Dec 12th 2007 8:53PM (Joystiq)
The problem here is that the competition (Harmonix) doesn't benefit at all. They're doing Activision a favor by releasing this patch, and voluntarily giving them market share in a territory that Harmonix could completely dominate if they wanted to, the way Activision does with GH3.

But instead, Harmonix wanted to do right by the fans and put the patch out there.

There is absolutely no valid strategic reason for Activision to be blocking this patch. It's an amazing display of arrogance and stupidity.

Harmonix: Blame Activision for PS3 Rock Band guitar issues

Dec 12th 2007 7:18PM (Joystiq)
Who thought, a year ago, they'd be rooting for EA to stand up to a bigger company to stop them from throwing their weight around to hurt consumers?

The times, they are a changin.

But seriously, it's Sony, EA, Harmonix, and MTV Games versus Activision. Somebody, somewhere on the side of this dick-measuring contest that doesn't include Activision, show some balls.

Thanks.
