British MP Watson leading charge against Modern Warfare 2 media controversy

Honestly, it's not the job of the government to protect the kids, it's the job of the parents.

What else is out there that can damage our little poor kiddies poor, poor, minds? Pornography? Religious (that isn't their parents') propaganda? Dare I even say, politics from either side of the spectrum?

Some of this is regulated. Some of it isn't. In either case, it's up to the parents to decide what they want to expose their children to, because there are censorship laws regarding advertisements (i.e. what will be shown in public) in both the UK and the US. Your kid's home is your home and you get to decide what to bring into it.

But don't punish the adults who are not children and have the power to make the choice on whether or not to buy the game. Don't make an injunction against selling the game that will target adults too, and trust in the parents of these children that they will protect their kids, whether that trust is warranted or not.

Sony streaming Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs free to new customers, expensively to existing ones

No, people are complaining because a 24 hour rental does not cost $25. Blockbuster never charged that much, nor Netflix, nor cable on-demand. Do I think it's a reasonable cost considering how people are now using post-theater and post-opening day options to bypass the cost of a movie night out, instead of rental being a rescue option for people trapped in by a storm, illness, etc.? Yes, especially since I think corporations can charge what they like because it's the consumer with his voting dollars who really sets the price in the end. But do I therefore see why people are complaining? And do I agree with them? Hell yeah.

Think of it as a ruggedized netbook. Whenever a normal laptop is sealed against moisture/dust etc, the price is generally doubled or even more. Insulating this netbook against water, flour, etc. will have the same financial effect.

Amazon's international Kindle surprises owners with $20 refund, limited web browsing

An eBook costs $10, a game costs $60.

A book often takes >10 hours to read through (at least). A game nowadays takes about 6 hours or less to play through.

An eBook's accessories are limited to cases and power adapters. Game consoles have controllers, remotes, wireless adapters, wheels, chatpads, etc. etc.

i.e., this isn't a fair comparison.

Operation Flashpoint patch coming alongside first DLC

Unfortunately, neither MW2 nor OFDR has dedicated server support.

Which makes any patch worthless IMO.

This is worth a separate article?
