honestly, who can be surprised that developers are having problems programming for new multicore platforms using a brand new engine? ...but any good artist should know that blaming the tools for his own shortcomings isnt exactly fair...
but adding an expansion DOES require the base content to be present, its just not technically possible to avoid, especially in an MMO that has a leveling system and level-specific zones!
if you are pessimistic about actually PAYING FOR THE CONTENT, you should probably find another game. offering the burning crusade for free would be an insult to people who paid full price for it just a few months ago.
and seriously, how many players do you think will want to skip the burning crusade, after having made the commitment to play the original game?
well, can this really come as a surprise to anyone? how would players be able to level from 60 to 70 without the content offered in burning crusade? i dont think it would make sense to offer burning crusade for free, but lowering the price substantially (like blizzard have already done for the original game) would definitely be prudent.
well, i have a lot of respect for epic games and i love their engine, but what he is saying basically isnt true. pc games always looked way better than console games, at least a few years into each cycle. it was like that in the last generation, the one before that, and the one before, where games like quake were coming out for pc, and consoles were 16-bit like genesis or snes... would anyone honestly compare the graphics quality in say, sonic the hedgehog (and that was one of the better looking games) to the graphics in quake, descent, or even doom? no, of course not. anyway, i think its natural for developers to put these kinds of fright scenarios out there, so pc gamers will rush off to buy more games, to "prove the viability of the platform..." just another way to push profits, i guess. :)
why would u need 47 pc's and 7 monitors to accomplish what two modest, year-old desktop boxes could easily do? and running a separate monitor just for thottbot or whatever is like admitting u cant even play the game without resorting to cheating... :P
