Now if only you could sit down and play any of the actual games.

New copies of WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 include free online pass, DLC

Aug 19th 2010 1:51PM (Joystiq)
Another game off my buy list. Pretty soon there won't be any complete sports games left for me to purchase. Once these online passes start hitting real games I'm gonna need a new hobby.

Remedy MD: episodic Alan Wake release would be 'interesting experiment'

Aug 18th 2010 2:03PM (Joystiq)
Alan Wake and UFC devs = crybabies
Multiple games come out every month of every year. RDR selling a very well has absolutely nothing to do with their lack of sales. If you can't build enough consumer interest in your games they wont sell. I along with my friends didn't buy Alan Wake until we found it for sub $30. We didn't want to go out and spend $60 game that we weren't sure would have a complete story. All they kept saying was that it was episodic and the next episodes would be aid for DLC (which had not been priced yet). Since they overprice just about everything on LIVE, we weren't convinced that we wanted to invest money or time into the game on release day. As for UFC I along with most of the people I've talked to didn't buy for two reasons. Not enough different from last year and the fact that you have to more to play online.

Review: Hydro Thunder Hurricane

I can wait for a good sale, even if it's a year from now. I'm not paying $15 for these Arcade games. I have a long enough backlog already. Let me know when they hit $10 or less. Hopefully for the developers I'm still interested when they do go on sale.

Joy Ride MIA, but Microsoft insists 'BigPark's vision' will come to life in 2010

Now another site that begins with a K is saying that might be right.

Joy Ride MIA, but Microsoft insists 'BigPark's vision' will come to life in 2010

My guess is that it will still come out, and still be free. But only with the Natal, they're gonna need to put something that doesn't look like a tech demo in the box. If they give it away free to everyone or even Gold members I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I doubt it.

Report: EA retiring NBA Live name, replacing it with 'NBA Elite' [update]

@Anticrawl

Adding secondary content (skins, maps, side quests, etc.) via download and taking away half of the game (no multi-player or roster updates) are two different things. I have no problems with companies legitimately adding value to new game purchases. With online pass they are just taking value away from the product.

Used game retailers respond to 'Project Ten Dollar'

Feb 21st 2010 8:54PM (Joystiq)
No where in my post did I say anything about EBGames or Gamestop.
Once I purchase a new game and I'm finished with it I become the seller, and with these type of actions reduce the games value. People are going to want to buy, sell, or trade the games they don't want anymore. Gamestop didn't invent game trading, they just found a way to profit off of it better than anyone else.
Also if recent numbers are correct I'm pretty sure that profits for the gaming industry are just fine. They just posted on this site the other day that revenues are at like 46 billion industry wide and growing.
