Used game retailers respond to 'Project Ten Dollar'

Feb 21st 2010 8:35PM (Joystiq)
I never said they were doing anything illegal. Just really shady. They are also reducing the value of the games I purchase new.

Used game retailers respond to 'Project Ten Dollar'

No company, no matter what they are selling, should have a say in what I do with a product I have purchased from them. They already made that sale and got paid. I understand your argument, but once I purchase something it's mine to do as I please. There is no way that the used game market is hurting new release games. It only really effects games that have been out for at least a little while (people have to buy it, play it, then trade it in). I just see this as another "defective by design" ploy to screw over people who are already purchasing a product. I can all but guarantee you that there will not be any kind of notice on the retail packaging that says this product is incomplete if not purchased new.

Used is used, If I buy a used game I know that I probably wont get a manual or original case, and I know that I have to deal with whatever scratches the original owner put on the disk. A used car that is a couple of years is old exactly the same, you deal with the original owners wear and tear. Warranties on cars are usually transferable so most major things are covered, unless the car is over seven years old (some models even longer). So while they have their differences it is still a valid comparison.

Used game retailers respond to 'Project Ten Dollar'

@aristokrat

For those to dense to understand.
There has been a used car market long before the fist video game was even made. If the auto makers had a problem with it they would have come out and said something or done something about it. Now, as for game companies, they cry and complain about it publicly all the time. I've also never been to an EA board meeting either, but I sure have heard them crying constantly.

The amount of imaginary intelligence in your post is also amazing.

Why is it that Game companies are the only ones that cry about a resale market? I never heard a single car manufacturer complain about people buying used cars. They act like they aren't already profiting hand over fist on their $60+ games and their ridiculously over priced DLC. Wasn't there just an article on here the other day about how much profits are rising for game companies? I'm not going to cry for or support any company that goes out and purposely devalues a product I purchase from them. I'm not a big fan of Gamestop and the way they do business either, but this just seems to me like greed that is just out to hurt the gamers. This is just my humble opinion, but I will not be buying any games that have this set up, new or used.

GameStop details three-point plan for digital distro future

Oct 22nd 2009 11:31PM (Joystiq)
If the current Digital Distribution model ends up becoming the only way to get games, then I guess I'll have to find a new hobby. Most of the content is way overpriced, and since the console manufacturers have sole control over the content and distribution it's just gonna get worse. I'm still waiting for those micro-transactions everyone was talking about.

Alright..........Time to retire the fanboys. Maybe they will all just dissapear someday.(one can dream, can't he?)
Just about every comment on this site lately is from someone who blindly gives money and their first born child to a company who could care less what they actually like or want. And then shows up here to try to defend said companies and the products they make.

Unless you own stock, why the hell do you care what people say about any corporation.
