The original playstations, which also played music CDs so you can argue it did more than just play games, was notorious for stripping it's gears and eventually having to be flipped upside-down to work.
What? From who? I've only ever heard absolutely terrible things about the GameCrazy in my area. It always sounded like shopping out of the back of a black SUV in a parking lot at 2am would be less shady.
Disney has been fairly hands-off with Marvel. They knew they were buying a fairly well run cash-cow to begin with and don't really want to disrupt it. Just maximize the value of their IPs.
I had the same question, a quick wiki search leads me to believe they're basically digital-only games designed for the PSP but are usually compatible with the PS3.
