Square Enix sees gil revenue decline in FY07

May 27th 2008 8:16PM (Joystiq)
No kidding. Sad, I'm not even sure thay made a profit on LO. What really gets me is every JRPG thats been released for 360 has sunk, yet they're still screaming for FFXIII. Why? Looking at sales clearly shows this is not a JRPG crowed. I think IU and LR are testing grounds to see if they can make a profit on the 360 or if their going to be nothing more than another Lost Oddessy.

And how do you know that will help when as far as it stands they haven't even released a flagship game on one system yet (FFCC and DQS are far from flagship, they're spinoff's) Lets see how FF 13 does on PS3 alone first then you can start screaming multiplat.

I think that would be cool, FF I-IX and throw in some special features (maybe an older FF spinoff that wasn't released in the US), I'd Buy IT!!! But I'd have to warn you, if their the original Nes 1-3, they take A LOT of patiencs to play LOL.

I have to agree FF's are starting to become very linear. I'm really hoping they revive some magic with FF13, and that it's not just a longer X, or XII game. Also it would also help to balance out cut scenes with gameplay, It really gets tiring having to set through CG for every little thing you do. It would also help if they'ed release on flagship game a year (FF, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest, ect) for the system. Instead they're relaying on the 5th remake of FFIV on handhelds, wich don't do big buiseness in the US.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets multiplatform exclusives

Apr 6th 2008 4:48PM (Joystiq)
I know how I can explain this better. No these are not the real numbers, but they are simpilar, and easier for people to grasp. Lets scale the numbers down and say the install base for PS3 is 1000, and the install base for X-box is 4000. 4 out of five people baught DMC4 for their PS3, but only 2 out of five people baught DMC4 for their x-box. The percintage of people who baught DMC4 on x-box is lower, but because the install base is higher, more units were sold, were as the install base is lower for PS3 and thus fewer units were sold, the percentage of PS3 users who baught the game is higher than x-box.... However this is all old news, I am not the first nor will I most likely be the last to report this fact. There have been plenty of other posters who have stated these facts, and I'm still pretty sure your just a fanboy who thought he had found an easy mark to ridicule and inflate your eago. Try somewhere else.

On average the PS3 community baught DMC 4. Though X-box numbers were higher its only because they have a higher base (a year head start you know), the fact is on average not as many MS owners baught the game when compared to PS3 owners. BUT if you'd do your research instead of trying to be a FANBOY TROLL OF THE YEAR, you would have known that.

I agree 5gig's, and 30 min install time just to shave a few seconds off load times was pretty bad. But buddy, it was one game. And most players didn't mind (it sold better on PS3 than X-box. I agree in my oppinion Capcom screwed up, shave 3-4 gig's off and cut load time to no more than 10 min I wouldn't have a gripe with it, but like I said most fans didn't care. But your making it sound like every game for PS3 commonly requires this, when the fact is it's only one game.

Samus Aran spotted in Unreal Tournament III

Then lets see your work if you think you can do better. Or lets put this in better perspective: This Samus was Probabbly done by one enthusiastic Programmer in his spare time on his computer, where as Samus on Gamecube/Wii was done by a handfull of proffessional artist and another handfull of proffesional programmers working with more advanced, and highly specialized tools getting paid for at least forty hours a week. When you put it in perspective, this guy did a damn good job.

Not my kind of game, but seeing all the crazy mod's for UT III is alot of fun. I'd love to see modding abbility's added into an RPG or a Mario game, (I'm a big fan of fangames:) ) it would be a lot of fun.

Strong yen prompts Sony to lower production costs

Apr 4th 2008 6:53PM (Joystiq)
As parts become more common-place to make their production costs go down. and companies find ways to streamline productions to bring the cost down. Technology also gets streamlined as companies find more efficiant and cheaper ways build their tech to perform the needed fuction. Think about it PS2 went from this high priced monstausity to a cheaper slimmed down compact machine.
