Soulja Boy tells 'em about Braid

Sep 17th 2008 3:25PM (Joystiq)
To his credit, he doesn't sound as dumb as the people that complained that 15 bucks was too much for the best 5 hours of gaming 2008 has had to offer thus far.
And you think he sounds dumb, you should try teaching in urban communities. He's eloquent in comparison.

Rumor: LittleBigPlanet lands in North America Oct. 21, Europe Oct. 24

Exactly Dante, you don't know whether it's going to be good or not, so what's up with the hype for every darn game that comes out with a marketing push. It goes both ways.
Hype is retarded. PERIOD. Doesn't matter if you're halo or killzone freak, get a life. Try the game WHEN IT COMES OUT and decide whether it's good or not.

reviews are not going to help you in that regard, buddy. The game is hyped; therefore, honesty and unbiased assessments are the last thing you're gonna read from just about everyone. The trick is that you don't know if the high reviews are worthy or not until you play the thing yourself. From what I've played and read this year, there's about a 20 percent chance 9's and 10s are actually worthy.
That's not a jab on sony or lbp...it happens on every console with ever hyped game that has millions spent on marketing.

Metareview - Spore (PC)

The concept is unbelievable, you have to admire the scope, but then again i think the scope is what killed the game. Will Wright should have concentrated his genius on 1 "stage" of evolution and defined and perfected that.

I forgot to mention the save game glitches...not mentioned.

This game was sold as an online-brawler. It's ignorant to just ignore the online functionality in order to fulfill a score. That's not reviewing the ENTIRE game as it is, and not just playing it alone in a room for a night and throwing out a number to get your review out first.
None of the positive reviews mention how repetitive the game is. How the "hidden characters" are just skin changes or that the game is just as short as braid and at the same price point. That and how bad the arena and quaff games play out.

Hype > Reality

...that didn't rely on being a remake with waggle

Vegeta's right...the game was built to be bad. No wait, what is he arguing again?

Oh that's right, he isn't making any point. It's not the sports fault nintendo doesn't even try anymore. There's been plenty of clever, fun baseball games before.

GC 2008: New Killzone 2 footage shows game is 'pre-beta'

Generally to make a game you at least have to have some IDEA or CREATIVE CONCEPT of some sort. This game...I've yet to see something that I haven't seen a million times before. Even COD4, Crysis, GOW and Halo had 4 or 5 good ideas to it that pulled it away from everything else. No, none of them reinvented the wheel, but it least it had something.
This game is gorgeous but man, the style is extremely cliche, the gameplay looks like an after thought, there's nothing to it.
It's like the developers said "hey, we wanna make an fps." Then, they just started making it with hopes that a concept for the game will just happen in the process of making it. That's not how it works.

In other words, if you don't have an idea for a story, put the pencil down and brainstorm a bit longer. You can't throw money at it and expect genius to come out.

Cammie: Nintendo 'disappointed' with E3 performance

Aug 19th 2008 4:41PM (Joystiq)
"It" is quite simple. It is making games/peripherals for more than just making money. "It" is not entirely leaning on hype and demand and your battered fans that will bite at any crappy bait you throw on your hook. "It" is integrity. "It" is not lowest common denominator. Shipping another Pikmin wouldn't fix "it," but at least it will show that they are listening to at least someone.

Put simply - "It" is quality for quality's sake.
See: Braid.
See: TF2 STILL being updated for free with quality updates.
See: Banjo Kazooie deal
See: Microsoft and Sony constantly competing amongst themselves to keep quality at it's highest levels.

Mario Galaxy had "it." And that was the trick card in nintendo's deck on the wii.
